Thanks all, I’ve now ordered a couple from the US via eBay. I’ll update once it’s all finished.

Thanks for the replies so far.

GrahamS; I’ve read mixed reviews about the Smith goggles, mainly to do with the power and/or number of fans. I think the older ones had 2 fans while the new ones only have one? Also I like the wide angle vision of my Oakley Flight Decks so would rather use those.

jemima: I’ve seen those but my Oakley frames have a 15mm gap where the foam/ventilation is at the top. I’d rather not have the fan sticking above the goggles as it might rub against my helmet.

I’ll post pictures once I’ve got it working along with test results.

I’ve disconnected the central heating pump. Nothing happens when I switch the heating on, the fuse doesn’t trip either. Hot water still works fine. I did notice quite a bit of dampness in the pump cap although it was bone dry inside so I’ve left it off for the time being to see if it just needs further drying out.

Thanks for all your replies. I’m guessing if this last attempt at drying it out doesn’t work I’ll call a plumber in the morning. The strange thing is that we had a major leak about 6 months ago and the pump kept working fine even though water was pouring over it.

For poor conditions this year (heavy snow and whiteout) I switched to Prizm Rose. Not sure it was massively better for visibility than the high intensity yellow I was using as it feels quite dark but it was no worse and had the major advantage that if the weather improved I wasn’t blinded like I can be with the yellow lens as it lets so much light in. Perhaps the marketing/technical guff about better contrast etc. does work.

Next year I may check out their better condition Prizm lenses. I normally ski in VR50 Pink Iridium as I don’t like things too dark, even on blue sky days.

Another vote for TrueCrypt. We’ve been using it for a good while at work with no problems.

    What Stoner recommended +1

I’ve got a few of them knocking about and use them in all sorts of wet and muddy conditions without any issues.

Then I get an email from the buyer, saying he should get more than the refund, as he’d never get another at such a good price, and that was my fault.

I’ve just bought an SJCam 4000+. It features a gyro for image stabilisation and uses the Gopro mounting system so lots of options. It’s also less than half the price of the Sony. I haven’t used it properly yet as I bought it for a ski holiday next week but my first impressions of it are positive.

After much Googling & reading up I’ve just just ordered an sj4000+. What swung it for me is that it features a gyro for image stabilisation. I’m planning to use it on a ski holiday next week so hopefully it’ll work OK.

How about a Sonos system and a Spotify Premium account?

You’ll need broadband to stream your music of course but the library is vast so will probably have all/most of your old CDs.

That’s what I did and haven’t bought a CD or mp3 download in years.

Ask your local pub to charge you double for drinks. That should help get you in the zone.

    Best skiing quote ever. 😆

I’m down in Brighton visiting family and spent an hour or so sat on my sisters front doorstep with a glass or two of wine while groups of kids came round as it seems massive down here. All good fun. My brother in law says that next year he’s really going to get into it and make their house the best/most scary on the street. I live in a rural area so have never had anyone come round.

I like him and am glad that he’s back on the radio.

It’ll be interesting to see how many listeners he gains from the other breakfast shows.

I’ve tested a few routers with my BT Infinity as I can borrow them from work. The HH5 works great and as it was ‘free’ from BT I decided it wasn’t worth spending money on another router.

If money is not a consideration than the best I found of the ones I tested was the Vigor 2860 which is about £230 for the wifi version. We use these at work and they are a great bit of kit.

I was thinking the extra weight of a big thick hearth and the stove would be too much for a non constructional floor area? We could pull up the floorboards and fill it up with concrete …

Thanks for the explanation. We’ve got tiles on a concrete floor so should be OK.

Out of interest as we’ve been thinking of putting a stove in our conservatory, why are you limited to a 12mm hearth? Can’t you just stick something thicker down?

If I sell anything then it gets posted within 24 hours/next day. 2+ weeks is a joke. How long does it take to pop to the post office? If it’s a large item then they should have figured out a courier before advertising it IMO. If they have a genuine reason for the delay then it only takes a minute to keep you updated via an email.

I’d start a claim via Paypal and get your money back.

Could it be that they wait until they have enough orders to buy in bulk rather than having the stock in their warehouse and then hope to sell it?

When I was on BT ADSL and then BT Infinity I found switching off 5G wifi and just using 2.4G sorted out all my connection issues.

We’ve just been through the same thing and decided on quartz.

The thing that swung it for us is that we put a couple of quartz samples down (gently) on a corian worktop in the shop to compare and the assistant came running over telling us not to do that as it could damage the corian 😯

I had a similar sounding issue. I fixed it by using the usb lead that came with it rather than a cheap eBay one and plugging it into its charger rather than a usb socket on the telly.

I have Spotify premium which allows you to download music to your devise so you don’t need to stream when out and about.

At home it links to my Sonos speakers. I use YouTube playlists with my Chromecast.

I haven’t tried any of the other streaming services though.

Could someone please tell a simpleton how to take advantage of this development, in as few words as possible, please – I would like to become rich with as little effort as possible. Thanks.

Short sell shares now and then buy them back at a lower price later. Simples*

*The value of your investment may go down as well as up. Short selling can lead to unlimited losses, etc.

the status has now changed to Thursday/Friday 27/28th delivery

I sell lots on eBay and have had this happen to customers even after I’ve dispatched the goods and marked the item as dispatched. I havent knowingly changed anything in eBay to change the expected delivery date. So he/she may have sent your item already. However there is no excuse for not communicating with a customer when you’re selling something. It takes seconds to fire off an email. I’d send a second message via eBay messaging and if he/she doesn’t respond within 24 hours then raise a dispute.

    Good luck.

I’ve used CBL Data Recovery[/url] a few times for work. They will let you know what they can recover and how much it will cost. They’ve been in business for many, many years and really know their stuff. If you decide not to go ahead then they just return your drive. Very nice people and I don’t think their prices are very high although I haven’t used them for a couple of years.

I’ve been testing a Vigor 2860 which has ADSL/VDSL with my home BT Infinity as we’re looking to get Infinity at work. So far it’s been rock solid (3 days) which is far, far better than the Asus N66U I’ve tried before which couldn’t hold a connection for more than an hour at most. It’s not cheap though.

We use Vigor’s at work (have about 12 throughout our sites) and they’ve proved very stable and reliable.

Sorry no experience with Sky broadband.

Sorry for your loss. At least she didn’t suffer and wasn’t alone which should be some comfort.

We lost ours to old age in January. We’ve only just felt able to get another and we now have Monty who is a 6 year old from the local rescue center. Although he’s ace we still miss our previous cat.

Rather than have a join, I’d buy a new length of cable and run it from the dish to where you want it to go.
