Currently I have a Sonos Play 5 in the kitchen which I use with Spotify. Am I right in thinking that if I bought an echo Dot then I would be able to connect it to the Sonos speaker via a 3.5mm stereo cable and then access Spotify via voice commands?

I’m 50 and have a failing heart valve which will most likely need to be replaced within the next 12 months. It’s not a surprise as I’ve known about it for the last 20 years but it was a surprise how fast it’s been going downhill in the last 18 months. I’m not supposed to put strain on my heart or take vigorous exercise.

I bought an ebike which allows me to ride with others. I’m still towards/at the back of the group but for me it’s about spinning along with minimal effort and strain on my heart. I have put on some weight and I’m not as fit as I used to be but at least I’m able to get out in the fresh air and continue to enjoy something I love. I did give up MTB for a while but found walking/hiking to be more effort/strain on my heart than my ebike.

    Good luck.

Mines a mess. It’s been too wet for ever to mow. Just waiting for a few dry days in a row to give it a final cut before winter.

I’ve used a set of LAN extenders that plug into the mains socket to put our outhouses on our network. I’ve then run Cat5 cable within the buildings to connect up our IP cameras using a POE switch.

Our current kitchen is a Wren kitchen. There were a couple of design mistakes on the part of the sales chap which only became apparent when we came to fit the kitchen. There were also a couple of errors on the ordering front and we had a couple of units that weren’t the right ones. However it was all put right and swapped out with no fuss. We also had some things left over at the end which they happily took back and refunded us for. Even a couple of units which we changed our mind on when we saw how they would look in situ. I guess it helped that we fitted it ourselves to save their £!!! fitting charge and also we didn’t mind waiting a few days while they swapped units out etc.

Overall we’re very happy and would use them again.

I’ve been with them for 12 to 18 months. No problems and my broadband has been 22M+ download speed (I had slightly higher with BT). Their router does seem to reboot more often than BT’s router did but generally it’s all been good.

Does she actually need Word or could she use Open Office until you can get a student version of Word sorted?

I ordered some bits from CRC and received half the oder from Wiggle. The Wiggle half turned up before the CRC half.

Is this something that the greetings card manufacturers have dreamed up? Perhaps the shops will start selling storm season novelty jumpers too.

Have a Happy and Safe Storm Season everyone.

I think you’ve been very unlucky. Apart from food I order nearly everything else on line and rarely if ever have issues. I get my stuff delivered either to home or work.

You have my sympathy. I have a heart condition which means I’ll probably be having a spot of open heart surgery to have one of my valves replaced in the near future.

I don’t know if this is applicable in your case but I bought an ebike last year and haven’t looked back. I spin slowly up hills but it really doesn’t feel like any exercise at all as the bike does most/all of the work. Of course the downs are the same/similar as they always were. Sure it’s not going to be the workout you enjoy or are used to but it means you could still get out on the hills without doing any further harm to yourself*. For me it’s a lot less effort than walking up a hill.

    Good luck.

*Of course you’ll need to have a chat with your doctor about exactly how little exercise you’re allowed to do.

We moved rural/semi rural a few years ago from the city. We’ve now got sheep, chickens and ducks. Living the good life apart from hideous commutes. I’d say go for it although I loved city life when I was younger.

I’ve got a couple of whetstones in my kitchen drawer that I keep meaning to try out. Perhaps I’ll give them a go at the weekend as my knives need sorting out.

That’ll be £80k take home so equivalent to about £135k (ish) before tax?

Or do they take it as directors dividends from the business? 🙂

I once put together a very pessimistic business plan to some VCs. They said it was refreshing to see an honest business plan for a change and I got the funding.

WOW amazing photos and it looks like you had a great time. It’s really nice to see something like this rather than the usual GoPro movie footage. Hopefully you’ll post up more in the future.

I’ve got an XT-1 and am slowly selling all my Canon EOS gear and lenses. As has been said above, lovely cameras, lenses and image quality in a smaller than SLR package and cheaper than some alternatives.

I’m with Pedal Cover. My insurance went up by £1.48 at renewal for which they apologised but did point out a load of extras that they added in :D. Looks like I’ll be sticking with them for a while.

    “trading” is a mug’s game.

No, it’s just a different game. When I used to day trade we thought of investors as the mugs.

just Google ‘cotton’ and ‘hotel’ or ‘silk’ and ‘hotel’, for a hotel with the right name e.g. Cottons Hotel & Spa, Knutsford in Cheshire. Or does it have to be an item?

I joined to do tech support

I was asked last week to put a redundancy policy together

I understand that in small firms employees are expected to handle things outside of their normal roles but this seems to be stretching it a bit. I hope you remembered to add in to this policy that staff will receive 3 x their annual salary as a redundancy package 😉

What tjagain said. He’s trying (probably successfully) to wriggle out of paying return postage

I’d suggest you just take it on the chin, pay to have the item returned and sell it again to hopefully an honest buyer next time. Make sure you block him once you get it back so you don’t have to deal with him again.

I’ve usually let my tyres down to fit the wheels better in the bike bag. Left everything else as is although I’ve mainly flown with coil shocks and forks.

If you really want to wind him up, set up a new email account, contact him about the dog from the new account and then start a bidding war with yourself pushing the price up to ridiculous amounts.

Amazing. How many miles (or fraction of a mile) does it do to the gallon? They don’t seem to quote that figure in the write up unless I’ve missed it.
