Unfotunately, the market has moved on so, as it’s been stated several times, if it’s not 650B/29, tapered head tube yadda yadda yadda then it’s not very desirable anymore. That’s not to say that the new stuff rides any better but fashion is moving on. Of course, this means that people will probably pay a LOT less than it’s worth to you. Exactly as Tomaso says, if you don’t want to drop the price, then keep it and rag it until it breaks.

Our instructors used Band of Brothers as training aids when discussing leadership in training. I’d never seen it before but then watched the lot in one go. I was exhausted by the end but that was a great day…

Another of Molly and I this evening. I reckon she’s pretty happy.

Rexated: correct, she’s bonkers. We reckon there’s another breed in there too…we reckon she’s a sprollie/terrier cross. Very independent and strong willed and very clever: she’s worked out how to open a baby gate by lifting the catches and biting the handle until the catch releases.

This is Molly, an 18 month old rescue dog. If anyone can guess what she is, then please tell me!

I thought that too. Then I experienced the next step up when I tried a road bike on rollers where coasting is virtually impossible – 45 mins of that and I am a very broken man.

I’m with Boblo on this: stop doing this to me!!! The last time someone posted about Westbrook cycles, I read it after a “few” beers and woke up with a £500 hangover… The new CR1 rides really well though :)

Depends on the cap badge. Not sure about other cap badges but my guys are kept very very busy with equipment maintenance & repair; admin; sport; prepping for exercise; going on exercise; career development courses etc. The more senior you get, the more paperwork & reports dominate your every waking moment though. There’s always more than enough work to be doing and not enough time. That said, they still find enough time to get up to mischief…

At 9am by any chance?! Nice one – had the privilege of giving the good news this morning to a few guys. Happy days!

    CSJ That’ll Do/Hi Lost.

This was recommended by the rescue centre where we got Molly. It’s good value but seems to have all the sorts of things there should be in a dog food, without the stuff that’s not…if that makes sense! Moll seems to like it and she’s full of energy and happy.

(Edit) But watching last night we’re considering mixing in some raw for variation and to see if it makes any difference.

I’m in no way medically qualified but that’s an AC joint separation I reckon. I did mine back in 2011 in Nepal and after a few weeks in a sling/support I as able to start moving it and increasing mobility. Make sure you do the exercises as you’ve been told – I failed to do so as I thought it was ok and it would continue to get better. That’s probably the reason I struggle with stability in my shoulder now and it’s noticeably weaker. I didn’t realise it until later, but I probably ripped my rotor cuff as well. Get it sorted properly otherwise it will linger.

’97 Kona Cindercone on the moor out the back of my house, between H’West and St David’s.

I got a mid 90’s Kona powder coated by these guys Link.

I just took them the stripped down frame, chose the colour and they sealed all the threads for me. Top job in about a week and cost about £50 I seem to recall.

@blister: cheers, I’m very happy with it. It’s considerably heavier than my traser but it’s hardly noticeable when on the wrist. I’ve not got particularly large wrists but it fits fine – large but unobtrusive if that makes sense. I think any larger and I’d be having issues!

Got hold of my Elliot Brown Canford today and I’m very happy with it. Ill let the pictures do the talking. I will say though that in the box was a hand written note addressed to me from Alex (who I had emailed with a few questions) saying that he hopes I like the watch…a simple but nice touch I thought.

Ver clear to read with lovely detailing on the face – it looks like an old vinyl record.

With the original olive green NATO strap.

Blisterman – my Canford arrived this morning (pretty impressive considering the guys only started back at work yesterday after Christmas). Unfortunately, I was at work so missed the postie. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it by Thursday. I’ll report back when I’ve got it.

Go on…get one, you know you want to!!

Tell me about it. That lake on the right hand side is the campsite right behind Newgale. Thing is, that’s the main route to work for me and a lot of others with whom I work. Good job they gave us an extra 1.5 days off because if it then?!

I live not far from Newgale in Pembroekshire and this was the scene on Saturday. The pebbles were a massive beach defence. Now they’re covering the main road between Haverfordwest and St Davids.

There’s a main road under there somewhere!

I’ve not had Graham’s 30 yo before but I’m looking forward to cracking this one when the time comes.

Normally, by the time the port comes round at a dinner, I’m too far gone on the wine to appreciate a nice one. :)

I received this for my 30th. Unopened, it’ll keep for 40 years so I’m intending to open it when I retire. Even the box is lovely and lined with what appears to be felt.

Oh I do like port. :)

Not sure what servicing costs are for the EB but I’ve had my Traser battery & seals replaced and watch pressure tested every 2-3 years for £30 a time. All being well, the EB battery’s meant to last for nigh on 5 years so I don’t see servicing costs been a problem! (famous last words…!)

Twoniner – it was your original post in the best presents thread that put me onto EB watches. Very nice!

I bought the strap as extra but I wanted the canvas one as well so didn’t ask if I could get it instead. They’re going to fit the leather strap before sending it out though. It’s probably worth dropping them an email though as they seem really good at replying to questions. Look them up on Facebook as they’ve got loads more photos of the various options on there.

I’ve ordered an oxblood strap as well as having the canvas one.

The guys are still on holiday at the moment but once they’re back in, it’ll be in the post. I was after one to replace this Hamilton (a lovely watch but I couldn’t find one which didn’t suck up water like a sponge), but which was as tough as my 18 year old Traser. Judging by the reviews, the EB sounds indestructible.

Interesting, Alex Brown was particularly happy that his watches were being mentioned on STW – we’re famous!

Someone on here got a new Elliot Brown Canford which is gorgeous in my opinion. So much so that I’ve just ordered my own. I emailed the company and got a reply almost immediately from one of the owners with all the info I asked for. Turns out he designed all of the watches for Animal back in the day before forming another business the founder of Animal – Elliot Brown watches. So, not strictly a watch for Christmas but Christmas money is paying for it!

2010 Santa Cruz Heckler with 2012 Revs. Not the lightest bike out there but is bomb proof and awesome fun to ride.

@ Rickon: recognise the forks? Very happy!

Also, is anyone else looking at the stuff others have received and going, “Wow, that’s awesome! I know, I’ll buy one of them now with my Christmas money”?!

This thread has cost me a wedge so far!

Got my last present this morning and for me and mine it was our best….

I’ve just gone from a set of 140 Float RL from 2010 to a set of 2nd hand 2012 Rev’s with a QR15 on my 2010 Heckler (1 1/8 head tube). The change to the geometry and handling is negligible but the extra stiffness is very noticeable, especially when I was playing around with pressures etc on a rocky descent at speed. They just feel more substantial than the Floats – I don’t think I was riding any faster than normal but I certainly felt more in control.

@Captainflasheart: cancel my last, it was very wrong. The first one is the Science museum and the last is Les Galeries Lafayette. Am I right this time?

    Alpha1653
    Full Member

@CaptainFlasheart: the first reminds me of Parque Guell in Barcelona played around with on photoshop; the second is in Birdcage Walk in Clifton, Bristol; the third is a hot air balloon at Bristol’s Balloon Fiesta at Ashton Court; the fourth is the same location; the fifth is a bit of a long shot but is it the Whispering Gallery in the Marriot Hotel at College Green?

Am I right??!?!? What’s the prize???
