Ben Spies description and opinion of him on BTSport live was bang on. As fast as Stoner but more well rounded.

Amazing riding by him and hes only going to get better/faster

Plenty of options Jonah, pay BT or pay Dorna for live feed.

Either way you’ll have to cough up though.

Best way though Jonah, is befriend a BT customer who doesn’t use his web login when watching it live via Sky/BT Fusion/Virgin etc

Was it a full service, including fork service, or just a service?

I’d expect to be paying a much higher premium for forks to get done at the same time.

Saying that I do a lowers clean out for any bike I ‘service’ and usually recommend a full fork service based on what I’ve seen.

    Midland VW in Cannock – 01543 495700

Best Indy VW place out there.

Slightly more pricey than average indy but worth the small increase considering they are still way cheaper than stealers.

If you can speak to Jody then hes the gaffer and loves anything 2 wheels ;-)

Very interested in this but cant help thinking your missing out on some essential bits while its all apart.

Your comment above about bearings shows exactly this attitude.
No matter when they were done, if the bike is apart I’d be making sure the races and rollers are thoroughly cleaned, inspected, degreased and repacked with RG2 (THE ONLY grease for MX bikes ;-) )

Same goes headstock(are they old style loose ball on that age?), swingarm, shock and both wheels.

Like what your doing as I love tinkering up the garage but when its done to that degree then I find being extra meticulous pays off dividends in the long run.

EDIT: Writing that as your post was posted. You have taken the time to strip things down and repaint….although not removing nuts, bolts, washers, bungs, rad caps etc means your just polishing a turd.
Getting kind of wound up here over this as its restoration at its worst.

Been using these Teng Torque wrenches for a while and they appear to be in line with the torque set by a friends much much more expensive and regularly calibrated ones.

Start with the 1/4″ drive one as its perfect for bikes

Typical long fork action of 32mm stanctions

Worth getting the bushes checked (they are easily replaceable BTW) but if you plan on long travel forks (anything more than 140mm)I’d opt for 35/36mm everytime.

Dab of paint method….does this garage think its 1970?

Sounds like pump timing is out to me. Is it churning out soot at an alarming rate or just a little more soot than usual.

    AS Jacket Weeksy??

I had you down as a power ranger rather than middle of the road, must be an age thing ;-)

Stuff that appears in my house:

Food, clean clothes (and rags), tea, more tea…I have a vague recollection as to where it originates but for me they just appear.

My garage seems to get the better deal as it acquires tools and bottles of ‘stuff’ at an alarming rate

The only manufacturer who can get Cannock Chase right is Maxxis IMO

My trick for god knows how many years has been Coco Pops!

Don’t know why but it works for me.

Kona, you’re a happy chappy aren’t you. All the people I know who are OCD about bacteria and germs etc are the ones who get ill the most often. Are you helping yourself by being so clean? (I do wash my hands after a poo though)

As you’ve already gone past the point of no return, I’d suggest using an alternative but more pliable material to get a chaser through the hole.

String is much easier to vacuum out of a hole than a gear cable!

Once you’ve got your chaser you can start to use the methods above fixing your new cables to the string and pulling back through the frame

Had exactly the same symptoms with Mrs D’s old TDI Golf (2000 model)

Now this may sound slightly odd but how is your coolant level? Have you had any blown radiators?

The reason I ask is that for 2 years she endured having this ballache to get the car going first thing in the mornings, even worse when cold up to the point it occasionally required bump starting (Thank god we live on a hill)

Anyway, after the 3rd radiator went in under 3 years (suspected stone damage on first 2 occasions) and a couple battery changes the garage reckoned it could be something else and starting looking into what could cause this.
It didn’t take too long for them to diagnose a knackered head gasket once they’d whipped the head off. They had suspected the head going slightly porous but this was much better news.

We got the vehicle back and it was night and day, no more slow turning over, no more flattening of the battery, car was like it was new again. Breath on the key and away it goes.

I am not saying this is your issue but just my tale of a similar issue we had with a very similar car.

I’m not reading much into his pace, he’s always gone well at Sepang, look at last year when he was 3rd in same test. Everyone got the Rossifever then and look at his season.

What we were missing from this test was Jorge on song, he’s claimed to have taken to the new fuel limit badly and its affecting his bike/style possibly more than others.

Honda have also been working on the seemless shift gearbox even more and if you read up on Motomatters website (David Emmett) has stated that coming down the box the Honda’s sound like a CVT gearbox which is making it supersmooth corner entry, something the Honda boys were moaning about last year.

I think he hits the nail on the head with his comment about the irony in 1000cc 4 stroke bikes finally entering a corner like a 2 stroke

It did sound to me like they were trying a little too hard to emulate Warner, rather than just being themselves. I bet they have been listening to him quite a bit.

They have commentated on quite a bit together so I’d expect each of them to show slight idiosyncrasies in their style.

Taki, my last good laptop kept melting graphics cards and Dell eventually told me to piss off and wouldn’t cover any more replacements. It was just over 2k when bought new. I paid a small chunk but work picked the rest.
Dell XPS M1710 with the red hot(literally) Nvidia 7950 GTX card, subsequently I got used to taking it apart, removing the gfx card and reflowing the solder by placing it in the oven on low for 10 mins.
Mind you now its not used on a daily basis for gaming its been mega, runs Ubuntu very nicely.

I’ve had many power cuts (sometimes my own fault) and each of my Crucial M4 (1 x 256 and 2 x 128’s, the 128’s are 3 years old) have been rock solid.

Intel are the best SSD’s but you do pay the premium for them(didn’t realise they had batteries in them for power failures), having one as a boot drive will make you wonder how you dealt with mechanical drives before.

No need for UPS or anything, make sure only your operating system and primary apps are on that drive and use a old school mechanical drive for storage of data you wish to keep. If you are really worried then I’d suggest WD Reds for that drive as they the NAS spec drives

I’ve a sad passion for bearings. Even when they are cheap to replace I find myself spending hours removing them, cleaning out all the old grease and grit and packing up with nice shiny RG2.
Its red too, so must make it faster!

Was the first one to get BT infinity in my area according to the guy who installed it. That was almost 2 years ago now and happy to say its the most stable internet I’ve ever used.

Just tested as it does vary slightly but I cant complain at this:

Huge line rental can be problem or you can pay for 12 months up front for a slight reduction.

Sata backward compatible no worries usually, but I’d be going for a full on SSD rather than a hybrid option unless you specifically a large capacity drive. If you want extra space an external HDD/NAS would be more than quick enough for music/films/hd pictures/etc.

I would be picking a drive which best suits my needs not just the largest.

mrLugz, an MD110 would no doubt work, however this is not a commercial deployment, this is a grey market bypass route intended to be deployed on site in minutes and can at worst case be thrown away/removed without too much of a loss to the business….ROI should be no more than 2 weeks for each deployment.

    I’ve ordered one of each of the following;

    Sangoma Vega 50: 1 x 4 BRI and 1 x 4 FXO

The key to this is being able to rapidly deploy anything from a couple to a couple hundred and not have the interoperability issues between Gateways and SP’s. From speaking to the Manufacturer of these boxes I am happy I’ve found what we need for the testing phase.

I just hope I can tunnel in/out of Venezuela without too much issue 8O

Thanks Dales! Think I’ll need it.

Swedishmatt, the whole point of this is to undercut anything else available. I know plenty of wholesalers/carriers who I could give the traffic to and we all make a little money.

Already spoken to manufacturer of gateway and they have no issues with their kit working down in Latin America although they are not sure if anyone has tried to do this in Venezuela.
