there’s ‘something’ about VW’s that gets under the skin.

Having lusted after a White MK1 GTI when I was very young. Posters on my bedroom wall of various Mk1 and Mk2 Golfs(and a cheeky Flatnose 911) when I came to buy my first car I knew what it would be….sadly I couldn’t afford one so settled with a Nova for my sins….that didn’t last very long so I saved a bit more.

My first ever VW was a beautiful, unmolested 3 door Mars Red Mk1 1.1…..It was love at first drive.
I’ve since owned nothing but VW’s(well strictly, VAG cars), but I cant see that ever changing. Currently a T5 (Sorry haters, but the bikes and motorbikes have to be moved about)

If we are willy waving with some pics, I’ll post up the one I miss the most though! Built up by myself and my best mate some 16 years ago from a std 8v GTI into a wonderful to drive, short block 2ltr 16v engine. A true labour of love for myself, with so many subtle mods(What myself and my best mate call OEM+) it sold at the time for a stonking amount….what a pity I was young and foolish as I’d love to have OYN950Y back in the stable.

It came up for sale on Ebay this year, but it’d had a Carbon roof conversion and the ‘truly mint’ interior had been stripped for track daying, as much as I wanted it back, I felt it had been taken too far with the Carbon roof….if money was no object it’d be sat in my garage.

Do you not need to eat a playdoh shaper to get the ridges?

Don’t you know anything about Unicorns?

Never thought to use Mini Dutch’s little plastic step.

Never has footstool been more apt….I presume it means average length of said evacuation

Yeah I was told go medium but sat on a small before I bought mine and decided it’d be ok with some fiddling.

Its only due to medium frame coming up without shock I thought sod it I’ll try it…..I bought the frame 6 months ago and still haven’t made the change. Possibly down to my frame being mint and the medium is well used.

Sorry should’ve been clearer, I’ve ridden my small for 4 years and while I love the thing(and nothing else about better for the money) I’ve always wondered that being 5’8″ if a medium would suit me more.

I bought a medium frame without a shock a while back but not had chance to change everything over yet. But I’ve had the shock valved for me so was going to move it to the medium frame. Hence small frame no shock.

Dunno how much you wanna offer for medium frame and shock? Email in profile if you want.

What size frame are you after?

I have a small BLT2 without shock that I need to strip down and rebuild into the medium frame I’ve now acquired

You cannot get lost on The Chase…..its simply not big enough, unless your sense of direction really is that bad.

Sorry, local lad who knows it like the back of his hand hence no garmin routes and not rode in months so a bit unfit to say the least

As per the Moto GP itself was mundane compared to support races, Moto3 was amazing again!!! Gutted Mr Kent didn’t use his head a bit more.

GP was the usual JL99 clear off and manage gap, shame for MM93 falling as we needed someone to fight Jorge but couldn’t fault Dani’s effot in stopping Vale. Not seen moves like that from Pedro in years!!!

Thanks Belugabob but yes I know how to fit a crown race.

I also now know I have a part missing, its a spacer cap that provides the flat for the crown race to sit flush against.

Finding this part may be tricky!

Fingers crossed but yes failing the ability to get the original part, I’m sure someone could turn that up for me. See if I can get original black first as a silver slither below headset would look slightly unsightly…..unless I get a silver headset

I bought them a while ago so sending them back isn’t going to work…..I thought Id be able to source the part pretty easily DOH!!!

Yes they are tapered but bought the forks 2nd hand, guy I bought them off says he knows nothing about it as his shop removed his forks before sale.

I’d rather not be buying a new set of uppers to rectify this.

Sadly not, they are not my forks but every picture of full carbon steerer and crown show this little spacer…..it stops the crown race going down too far but 100% isn’t the crown race as the crown race slips down so far then stops leaving a 4/5mm gap between itself and the fork crown

Yes but as others have said you’d require a SIP provider to be able to make calls.

Plenty mobile apps where you can ‘buy/rent’ a virtual landline number which comes straight into your phone so the outlaw could still ring at same cost. (Tringu would be default for this)

Mogrim, I believe that’s the roadmap for Windows devices.

Think of using whatever device you have with you as a terminal to access YOUR online PC….

We’re talking projector keyboards and screens, motion detected mouse cursor movements etc.

Wireless charging will be the next big one, especially when its compatible across all devices not manufacturer exclusive

Imagine walking into your home/office/car and never thinking about charging your device

Taken from channel 4 website purely to regurgitate:

Smoking has a huge cost to the NHS – an estimated £5.2bn – but boozed-up Britons put a massive dent in the overall economy because of the additional £11bn burden on the criminal justice system. All too often, drinking results in violence, either at home or out on the streets.

So sod the personal wars on smoking and direct your anger to everyone in the pub

Passive smoking in open air gardens…..do me a favour and wind ya necks in.

What I cant stand is eating outside and some dirty fecker floats an air biscuit my way….can we ban farts next?

Happy smoker here but I don’t go to pubs based on the idiots inside, not the lack of smoking facilities.

Telecoms erm Engineer/Manager/Developer and general computer dogsbody for a very small firm.

Been at it for 15 years and I’ve fixed anything from PC’s to blenders or put up a very large sign on the new building but then I was an integral part of an MVNO launch a few years ago.

Madness everyday which half the time is showing the accountant how to actually use a PC…love it to bits and everything above is expected in my role as ‘The IT Guy’

forward the text to as many others in the company as you can, let them see how badly you are being treated…

I can arrange for everyone in your company to have the same SMS message that would appear to come from your bosses mobile if you want some fun.

DezB, classic highside. He’s gone for the throttle and the rear tyre didn’t have the grip he expected. Bingo out the top door!!

Lucky it happened as quick as it did as that tree was very close.

Yep, managed to fracture both scaphoid and trapezium in one fall. (I wasn’t drunk honest)

Lovely bright pink cast for 4 weeks and job done. Fingers were fine but thumb grip and overall wrist strength was terrible for 8 weeks or so.

Office desktop from HP with sticker on side….is it the OEM stuff they wont upgrade?
Being a work machine, has it been reinstalled with an Enterprise edition? You can’t upgrade those as they use a VLK.

No its been a machine that’s been dormant for a few years as we had some employees leave. Sticker on side box is ‘Windows 7 Pro OA’ (OEM Activation) which I thought was included and why it went through the upgrade process….

Ahh I think I see whats gone on, as I ran the upgrade I should have then ran the tool to find my new Windows 10 key….as that partition got wiped due to it being so damn slow and laggy then I’ve effectively screwed that install…sounds like a reinstall of Win 7 and upgrade but be careful to obtain the new product key before I wipe the partition.

Upgraded a spare work machine yesterday, what a god awful thing to do. I chose not to keep anything yet it still was laggy and hanging half the time.

So download the ISO and mount onto USB, install this morning and its telling me that I don’t have a valid product key…yet the thing allowed me to forcefully update yesterday and told me it was authenticated, today it wants nothing of the sort. Office desktop from HP with sticker on side….is it the OEM stuff they wont upgrade?

I did speak to Micrsoft and the unhelpful lady told me to wait a few days as this is happening a lot!! Maybe they will fix it, or maybe they lost track of the ‘genuine product codes’

    You can force the upgrade process start by following these instructions;

Everyone should own a golf at least once in their life.

    This +1 (or +6 in my case albeit 2 non GTIs, a 1.1 and a VR6)

Really miss my beautiful White 16v Mk1 Golf….almost bought it again this year after it came back up for sale on Ebay…but due to the nasty fitted carbon roof I declined
