Nice collection there, i’ve still got my NES and Amstrad CPC464 (along with Amstrad Green Screen). I vowed never to get rid, much like my matchbox cars and Scalextric.

Even though the parents dont like it cluttering up their loft I cant force myself to let it go. My lad is now 12 months old and I cant wait for the day when i bring it home and see his eyes light up.

Easy fix, dont ride the roads, quite simply why anyone gets pleasure from riding a surface like our UK roads is beyond me.

He’s obviously playing ‘Spot the bike’ and he’s ticking off the road going bag of poo in front of him.

Brian Simpson is the one your on about i think. The Bone welder, never used him but in the Motorbike racing world he has legend status. Riders come back from all kinds of nasty injuries only a few weeks after.

You should have seen him before the plating though, as he can get amazing results without the need for pinning.

I’ve always found a good workout makes me feel loads better when suffering. Its hard to get the motivation to go out on the bike but smashing out a load of miles works for me.

I’ve just read the Sheldon Brown method. While I cant argue nothing would get it cleaner and better lubed, its a reet ball ache isnt it.

I’ve found my Endomundo is lower than a Garmin but not by loads. That however is some difference

Bloody hell Davesport, I could really do without time off the bike. Well sport in general, I play hockey too and its always worried me running about like a loon on astroturf, the twisting and turning on such hard ground. Both my dad and his twin suffer with their knees and my cousin a couple of years older also has issues with his.

Like you say maybe some proper medical advice is needed.

Saddle height it is then as I dont use cleats. Its not a long time in the saddle, a quick lap round local trails. Prob 8/8.5 mile in total.

Thinking about it, i dropped the seat a bit more last time I put the bike in the car just for easier loading. I’ll have a look next time I’m out.

Very very little. Her domain is indoors and mine is outdoors. So i do the bins, garden etc and she gets the lovely tasks of cooking, ironing, washing and the rest.

    It works for us.

Met dave last year when my friend was planning a Midlands to Amsterdam by MTB ride. Very nice chap and what he has been through makes you realise how determined people are. If anyone can break the record the Hobbitis your man.

Top guy and went right out of his way to help my mate out.

I can only stomach the Monster/Relentless ones which are a bit more fruity. Redbull will give me the shits within an hour of drinking it. Hence why i dont drink it.

Not done it myself as I’m always in the Paddock when staying at Oulton, but plenty of fields with Toilet blocks everywhere and you can have a walk over to the paddock for shower blocks.

The mrs will be roughin it though. It aint like staying at the Thistle Hotel at Brands Hatch

Well its a case of taking my Blur LT2 or hiring one and i dont fancy the BSO’s they tend to have there. That map looks pretty good to be fair, we’re right near the trails by the look of it as we’ve got some fancy 4 bedroom shack thats up in the top left of the CP complex

Look where you are going not down at your front tyre, hang off the back like a gorilla until you get the hang of it. Like others have said though, it really is nothing once you’ve done it a few times.

We’re off there on 6th June for the week. Was wondering wether to take my bike or not but sounds like Sherwood is worth a little exploring.

I once had a PC game and Rincewind was in fact voiced by Eric Idle. I thought he suited it perfectly.

Sounds a perfect weekend, the mrs can be pampered all she likes while you go off exploring. I might have to sort one of these out myself.

I’ve got a Santa Cruz Blur LT2, its amazing. Run it with 130 forks for an XC feel but currently running it with 150 Rev Teams. havent weighed it as I dont care. It does everything and more than I could ever do on it and goes up hills almost as well as my old FSR XC.
BUT i didnt buy the SC model, it was a frame and built it up myself as I wanted exactly what i have on it.

Surely the way to keep bridleways and waymarked paths in good condition is for everyone to make up their own routes is it not?

Its gotta be better for the environment to have an occasional mtb go over it and have time to recover than thousands of mtb’s all following the same path.

Are we gonna start killing Wildlife who make up their own paths too? As i said in previous post I regularly follow some deer paths to find new routes. Just makes it more fun.

I got some Atomlab Aircorps, massive footbed but quite thin too. No bearings to mess with just DU Bushings.

    Awesome pedals!!!

What size rear mech do you have? Did you change when dropping the outer ring?

Consider a smaller one for more chain tension, maybe a few links out first before shelling out on a mech.

It sounds like a slack chain and its jumped onto bottom ring then the crunch is when its working its way back on to the middle cog.

Not a chance, love mine but then its been faultless for the 6 months i’ve owned it.

Dont think i’d ever go back. Just buy the latest greatest one if(or should that be, when) mine becomes beyond repair

Pay someone to build a PC for you. It’ll work out slighty more expensive but if built using quality components it shoud outperform and outlast any generic PC

Fanblummintastic at the moment, tyres wont matter as much now its this good. I’m still on my Minion DHF Front and Medusa rear.

Ok still a mud steup but they still grip more than i need and havent had the front or rear break away for sometime now.

I really like the bloke, funny on both Celeb Juice and Argumental.

His take on Cheryl Cole’s ‘Fight for this love’ on Lets dance for Comic Relief was great too.

Discs and pads on a Golf….30 mins and you should be done, thats working on your drive. If you have ramp access then its a 15 minute job.

Dont forget a bit of copperslip behind the pads to stop any unwanted squealing later on.

What about the preload bolt that should be on the outside of the crank?

    Surely that stops this happening?

I’ve had mine for over 3 years now. Only problem I had was when it was new and it got a small air pocket inside somehow. Forced a load of grease through and heard the air bubble pop and since then its been perfect. very well controlled too.

I cant believe some of the comments, how can you say its easy to pass on a bike? I presume there are a few non motorbike riders or even better, non bike racers!!!

If you’ve ever experienced motorbike racing then you’ll know full well how hard it is to pass. On about tiny little things, yes they are smaller but youc ant just change lines like with a car. Everything that happens is more fluid when you on a bike. You have to think in ‘arcs’ as thats the only way a bike will turn.

Anyway, cracking GP race as per usual. Thought Stoner was quite magnanimus in his little speech to Vale. I think if the tides were turned then Rossi wouldnt have been the same. He would have been slating him for an idiotic pass. Which in all fairness considering he was 50yards back at the start of the straight just shows that even the great one can make errors in judgement.

Anyway, cracking result for the Brits over the weekend, gutted for Scott redding but Bradders did aawesome for his 2nd Moto 2 race and for Danny Kent and taylor Mackenzie to get 4th and 5th was awesome!!!!
