Good sand down (with a machine) is best.

Try rubbing the grooves with some coarse Wire wool

ESP is great (Easy Surface Preparation from Owatrol) if you are worried about the paint not sticking well.

Probably need a couple of coats or more if going from Brown to whit(ish)

Exposure have a seconds sale at the moment – I would defiantly go with one of their lights after years of Chinese cheaper – I have a maxxd and it just works!

I’m spending some time cleaning out the bike store and fitting some old kitchen units.

I appear to have never thrown out any

Pedals

Tyres

Wheels

Since I started cycling around 1991!

So many 26″ tyres (although I do still have an old Orange 5 to put them on.

Anyone want some worn out SPD pedals or used 26″ wheels?

So now STW is a homeopathic cycling forum?

I had a Specialised Allez that died after about 10 years and replaced it with a Arkose.

Obviously the size of tyres you can add increases on a Cross bike and the disc brakes are a real benefit compared to rim brakes.

The only issue I have is the gearing can be a bit low – spinning out happens often where a road bike would not

Another vote for the Magnifica from Delonghi

You can definitely dose the lesser used coffee through the top of the machine, using the measuring spoon.

Re-furbs can be sourced at much reduced prices if you don’t mind that idea!

KMC are great chains and Shimano make great cassettes.

Assuming you have the right chain and cassette for your bike, then it would either be a set up issue (derailleur needs adjusting) or potentially the derailleur is bent!

Just north of Newquay is one of my favourite beaches – Watergate bay.

There is a lovely sandy beach with the usual waterspouts on offer – surfing mainly – not sure about motorised ones.

There is a Hotel or holiday apartments for accommodation or camping sites depending on your tastes.

The beach hut has good beer and food or if you are feeling fancy there is a Jamie Olvier 15 restaurant.

You can experience Newquay and then go back to the beach – best of both worlds!

Ive done a couple of pallet wood walls in the house – my wife loves upcycling and the rough look of them.

I find the easiest way to take them apart is to bash the blocks and then use a crow bar on the tough bits – a rubber mallett can be used to loosen the planks without breaking them.

I’ve also made some wall plaques and bottle openers – a bit of fiddes wax brings out the character of the wood.

Always worth running a plane or sander down the edges to avoid those splinter moments!

Genuinely sorry for OP’s loss.

A friend lost their brother last week to pnuemonia – he was 50 and had a horrible cough for months. Family kept asking him to go get it seen to and eventually he was admitted.

6 weeks in hospital an his body gave up :-(

She sounds like a remarkable lady who managed to enjoy life to the end!

If you or your family have “flu” and its not getting better after a few days – get checked out! (A couple of years ago I have pneumonia that I thought was flu – a weekend in hospital with IV antibiotics that stung when administered sorted me out)

Stories like this and my friends brother make me realise that it was potentially a closer call than I thought at the time!

Hi Andy

I have a mate who does lots of building type work in Brighouse that might be able to help.

Adam midgley (search for his name or midgely properties on Facebook)

You might find that 8 would be too much for a room of that size – I just fitted 4 in a bigger room than yours and it feels like an operating theatre with them on!

If you check my Strava I have done a few rides around there.

There is a Shibden CC which runs out of Queensbury – might be worth checking them out?

I dont think that this area is particularly difficult to navigate – if you are taking the MTB then there would be a great route awaiting a little muddy discomfort!

I could put something in Strava rides to use on a Garmin if you have that facility?

I used to live in Birkenshaw and cycled around there for years- considering the proximity to Leeds and Bradford the cycling is excellent!

If you want a loop check out my Strava rides or let me know and I’ll do a route for you!

I wanted exactly the same thing about a year ago and found some on Amazon called onebyone

<span style=”font-size: 12.8px;”>https://www.amazon.co.uk/1byone-Bluetooth-Wireless-Bathroom-Visceral/dp/B01FHF9DOQ/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1517157756&sr=8-1&keywords=one+by+one+scales</span>

They have been brilliant!

Stealth ad posed as a question? :-)

Or more helpfully – I had an MOT failure old van to get rid of. Put it on the local Facebook sales groups and sold it within a couple of days

My tips would be:

1, Get a value from a trader / we buy any car.
2, Add a little on to that and put on Facebook – ignore the offers for a fraction of your reserve price.

Not sure how old or how bad it is, but mine was a Vauxhall combo – had a couple of mechanical issues and failed MOT – scrap value approx £125 – got £200 for it.

I have had a few from Smartfonestore

few problems so far and when we did have a problem, they replaced the phone with a grade better.

Not as cheap as a good ebay find, but reliable and hassle free.

Its not fun at all is it?

I had it about a year ago – I thought I had flu and was in bed, but it was not getting any better after a week.

I was really short of breath – so much so that a visit to the toilet was a planned event!

I was admitted and put on IV antibiotics which stung as they entered the veins. After a couple of days of that I was discharged and have had no other issues since.

Be good to yourself and get the rest your body is probably telling you that you need.

Gently does it when you feel that the lungs are better!

Best of luck!!

I did a recent PSA for the Aether Cone a while ago – some got one and seemed to like it.

I think there are some great speakers out there – if you can listen to one in a shop or a friends house then thats usually best as people like different sounds.

I have a B&W Zepplin and love it ( a bit more expensive, but found it on here second hand)

I’m looking at this with a bit of other work around the house.

We have a system boiler for heat and and old style immersion heater for water – which of the systems can work both these systems? – Tried to look online for the answer, but could not establish!

With the current deals its seems like a good time to sort it out!

I had a 370 kg wood burning stove fitted recently and a shop type pallet truck was the way we moved it.

Might be worth putting some wood between the legs of the truck and the cooker to make sure you don’t mark it.

if there’s enough space a pallet would be useful!

The guy who brought it from the original owner used some bits of metal to slide it around on the pallet – they were shelf supports from a supermarket, but any thin longish metal strips would do.

I recently bought a new steam generator from a local refurb place.

It was 65 i think. – just looked on ebay for others and they are around £200.

Plus points of this one (possibly all generator ones)
Seems quicker as the steam is trigger generated, rather than gravity fed water falling onto plate to warm up

This one has the option of bypassing the generator bit if you just want to iron a couple of things too.

If you can find this one I do recommend, but the prices seem a little high.

Majestic palace hotel in Malcesine is excellent for familys

If you get one of the family rooms at the back of the hotel, there is plenty of space.

The kids will love the pools there and its kind of all inclusinve if you want.

Seems to be getting quite pricy though since I leas went a few years ago.

Main bonus is if you can take the bike, get up the cable car to Mt Baldo and follow the 601 trail back down – a really excellent day’s riding (quite technical and easy to fall off a hire bike if you forget about the brakes being the wring way round!)

They try this sort of thing on everyone.

I had a 3.2 Audi TT about 10 years ago – within about 1600 miles from new I had a puncture in the side wall of the front tyre.

They tried to recommend I changed all 4 tyres!

The sad thing is more vulnerable people will tend to believe them :-(

Awful situation – my sympathies

Couple of suggestions:
1, Get the best cardiologist you can – someone who has done work with the specific heart issues you have
2, I am sure there is a younger persons heart check charity – saw it on Facebook this week to get the boys checked out (I think it was on Jack Clarckson – hope riders feed)

Agree with the above suggestions about education – if you don’t know what’s going on you cannot be discerning about the treatment you get.

Best of luck – hope it turns out less bad than you currently expect.

Sympathies OP.

Just had 6 weeks out of action with a broken 1st metatarsal (lumberjacking accident!)

Say off it as much as possible.

Aches a bit when you come back into cycling but think it will be fine after another month

I have had a number of Chinese cheap ones

They are great when they work

However if you go out in all weathers they tend to stop working with water ingress (they are tagged at the ends of the cells with very thin metal that disintegrates at the sight of moisture)

I too have a Maxx d (second hand off here) and only use the Chinese ones as a secondary light on the lid for the faster sections.

Not had a single problem with the exposure over its first winter.

How old is the car / battery?

It does sound like a poorly battery (earths can be an issue too!)

If you have another vehicle can you switch batteries and does that help?

I got one from Tayna batteries after someone on here suggested it and it was a lot cheaper than euro carparts etc!

Definitely worth it!

Options

1, Just buy a frame and put the things you want on it
2, Add to the voucher and get something more expensive
3, Go for a cheaper last years model (Evans etc allow vouchers on sale models – not all shops do)

Hi Chief – just a kitchen, but might make it into the utility room depending on difficulty – main thoughts were around keeping the wall space for kitchen units as the room is a bit of a strange shape to it.

The room will also have a wood burner (true to STW type) which will provide most of the heat when on – but it wont always be on!

Room is about 25m2 so quite large

Have you used the stuff on your link Peter?

The wood ones do look great – I think we have chosen some limestone tumbled ones that appear similar to the Yorkshire stone we were hoping would be underneath!

They do some different sizes so that it looks more original – I think they call it modular!
