The nearest I know of is an add in from a guy called Thomas Champagne (great name!)
It looks at your time for this year and compares it to your best (as well as a lot of other stuff)
Might that help?
alibongo001Full MemberYes if they are pointed the right way.
Depends on the distance involved – more of a push than a blow.
alibongo001Full MemberI bought another this week, the Aldi one for £16 I think
Seems as well made as the £20 one I bought a while ago and might work a little better (faster spinning for the same temperature & starts at a lower temp)
I would definitely get another
alibongo001Full MemberYou can often get them on Ebay cheap if you look at the sort of end you need?
Also there are some universal ones with lots of different connectors if you are not sure!
(I think I might have one of those around somewhere!)alibongo001Full MemberSurely the first stage with this problem is to look up at the sky, quizzically?
(I know I always do this, then think to myself – what am I expecting to see???)
alibongo001Full MemberRoute 66 – the greenway can be followed the other way, ending up at the navigation pub.
Its only flat canal but pleasant enough and very few gates to lift over.
For a bit more fun you could climb up to Ainley top and come down into rastrick woods or do the mink farm etc
alibongo001Full MemberI plug a dot into my stereo with a simple headphone jack to 2 phono leads – the dot probably doesn’t even know!
alibongo001Full MemberIt is always the Valleys!
I have what might be a similar roof and have had some issues over the years which has driven some learnings that might be helpful
If you think logically the valleys are always going to be more of an issue than a regular bit of rook as the water has collected from a larger area to concentrate flow there – always check the valleys first
If the valleys have lead liners (like mine) then I think the best way to lay them is in lengths of around 6 feet with an overlap of 6″. This is to allow some expansion and the upper layer to slide over the lower ones. My valleys are done in one long piece and I think that is why they leak. Expansion and contraction cause stresses which eventually crack and leak
If you are having the valley re-done it might be worth having this conversation
alibongo001Full MemberI saw a post earlier that it can now automatically send a text based on certain conditions e.g. send a text to say you got to work/left work
That could be useful for letting people know where you are automatically!
alibongo001Full MemberWe have used malaga car a few times for a cycling weekend
cheap – no issues on handover etc
Sometimes they received a very dirty Doblo after doing uplifts for each other on the dusty roads!
alibongo001Full MemberMine’s for sale if any of you want to scratch the 911 itch!
https://specialistcarsltd.co.uk/autos/porsche-996-turbo/
I don’t think you would need anything that is quicker!
alibongo001Full MemberLeftfield choice – you seem interested in stats/numbers and healthcare
Have you thought about HEOR? There always seems to be lots of health economics roles out there.
Most products are now sold on their impact on the healthcare system, rather than the amount they reduce a surrogate marker – this needs robust modelling
Good luck with whatever you choose!
alibongo001Full MemberAre M520s the ones without the cage?
I’ll see if I can find some caged ones cheap as I prefer the security of a larger platform on the MTB
Thanks for your responses lunge & qwerty
alibongo001Full MemberI have driven quite a lot for work over the years and also am doing some support work for a mate who holds advanced driving events for companies.
There is a lot of (quite appropriate) annoyance in the posts above – another’s poor driving could obviously have a massive impact on you or your family.
The problem (as I see it) is in 2 parts:
1, Mindset
2, SkillSome people are dicks! Their mindset is to get what they want and any cost to others. They also have a shallow understanding of the wider topic and particularly the consequences and risks involved. No amount of training would really help these people as they don’t really want to change!
If we take the dicks out of the equation, then training can really help as good quality coaching can tease out an understanding of a situation and train appropriate defensive driving techniques to minimise risk.
One of the first posts said that driving is the most difficult thing most people do – its amazing that we have so little input for a task after our test.
For me practical training with qualified instructors who enjoy their role is the best way of improving the situation (CPC training for HGV is a joke – 7 modules to be present at – apparently you could pass by doing one module 7 times!)There’s no silver bullet for this one – attitude changing is difficult!
alibongo001Full MemberI have had several phones and Ipad from Smartfonestore
They replaced one with a battery problem quickly and with a better grade of the phone that I bought
All the others have been just as described
alibongo001Full MemberI just put some comments on the petition
It’s difficult to read the document as it’s so long!
Am I right in thinking it 5m to close it? How much is the refurb and cycle way plan?
It seems daft to lose a historic bit of engineering and pay millions of pounds to do it when we could generate local revenue and promote other uses like cycling
alibongo001Full MemberI ended up with a VW FOx for my lad – small engine and very low insurance group – £1400 for the year just after passing at 17
The 107 / C1 and Aygo are good from a cost perspective but their driving experience leaves much to be desired
There are specialist young driver insurance brokers that can help – can be worth putting an older parent on as well to reduce the percieved risk.
Black boxes generally help reduce the price by around 300
Hope this helps!
alibongo001Full MemberDr P – unfortunately there seems to be a rule in life that for everyone who gives there are several takers.
Normal rules do not apply!
You can only create the environment for people to behave appropriately – they have to actually do it!
Look after yourself and your family
alibongo001Full MemberLooks nasty!
What is it you are looking for in the lounge?
I have some stuff you could gladly have!
(Also a van that can move big things around if it helps)Let me know!
alibongo001Full MemberFiddes wax is another contender for the grain enhancing / slight protection it offers
alibongo001Full Memberits an interesting debate.
I also read that there are plans to make a black box type facility in each car available to any crash investigators.
perhaps that might stop some people from behaving the way they do?
Speed is not the only factor though in many accidents (clearly is is a significant one in many thought). Perhaps the thought of big brother knowing what speed and inputs were going on when you crashed would make people think twice? _ I doubt it, some seem to have a bad attitude to life!
alibongo001Full MemberI have a wall that still has some old whitewash / paint and came to the following conclusions:
1 its a pain to get off!
There are 3 methods:
1 Wire brush (slow but should not damage anything)
2, Pressure washer – fast but effective – messy
3, Pressure washer with a sand blasting attachment – more effective quick but more messy
4, Pin gun – noisy / messy but effective – its an air tool that fires captive pins at the wall to agitate the paint offThere is no easy way!
Hope this helps!
alibongo001Full MemberI just checked my Five has done 2200 miles with me on board 95kg without kit over 3 or 4 years
Stopping me has been the faithful M4s – still got good bite / modulation and overall power
Have only needed new pads and the rear bleeding / cleaning once!
alibongo001Full MemberAnother vote for Malagacar –
Close to airport for pick up – reasonable on state of car at return point – even after using the doblo for a number of uplifts on disty trackscheap too!
alibongo001Full MemberI helped my father in law buy a second hand car from a local dealer.
Pick up time was Saturday AM and I had an upset father in law on the phone Friday night “we wont be able to get the new car tomorrow – someones stolen my old one!”
Why someone would steal an old very high mileage battered Mondeo was beyond me – but I had a chat with the dealer and asked how much he could reduce the new car by as he no longer had to dispose of the Mondeo – £500 off!
Needless to say my father in law was ecstatic going from no new car to a better deal!
It just shows the mechanics of selling a car are not always obvious to the public.
alibongo001Full MemberI’ve always wondered if you have a dashcam in your car and running are you bound to share the footage?
For instance there are a couple of examples above where others dash cams could really scupper their own claims!
alibongo001Full MemberAny top tips for log sources around Halifx?
I have used some thick briquettes from a Wood place near Corby and they are great if you dont mind them not looking like a proper log
I think it was 180 for 900kg and they have about 4% moisture!
alibongo001Full MemberThe only way here is to refund….
Although a bid is a legal thing and you could go down that route – they will then be looking for a reason to back out and cause you the grief of receiving the cans back. I cant see a case of cans making 2 journeys unscathed!
Hope this helps – I’ve done quite a lot on eBay and have the worry lines to prove it!
alibongo001Full MemberI have the 24v Vax blade and its been great – so far.
There is a new one thats more powerful for about £249 – that one must be really powerful!
alibongo001Full MemberAgree with the main theme of peoples comments above
However if you have family I think they are worth having for use on hols in addition to the occasional cycling gnar fest!
We have taken ours on holiday for a few years now and we all enjoy a robust camera to take beach / water shots etc This year our simple go pro was excellent for taking pictures of the thousands of fish we saw snorkelling
alibongo001Full MemberJetparks 3 was a pain in the ass a few weeks ago.
The roadworks meant it took a while to get to the site – then there were no signs saying which zone spaces could be found – 20 mins later I eventually parked only to see the bus sail off into the distance!
Bus also took ages through the roadworks – allow plenty of time
Sound like people favour the park and ride overall – I can see why!
alibongo001Full MemberIve got a 32v Vax Blade one and its great – they have just brought out a more powerful one too!
If you sign up to their website, they often have good deals, but the baseline is cheaper than Dyson anyway
alibongo001Full MemberIve been and its mostly super tech and steep!
There are a few threads on it – main ponts
Riva in the North is quite bikey and there are some good shops and organised tours from there
I’ve stayed in Malcesine with the family and managed to go from the hotel for a good loop (expect lots of climbing!) and also take the cable car up to Mt Baldo & ride a way marked trail (the 601) down
If you hire a bike remember that the brakes are the wrong way around!
alibongo001Full MemberI once followed a guy who was all over the road – very erratic driving in terms of road position and speed etc.
I was convinced he had been drinking so pulled in-front of him at a junction and challenged him about it. The smell from the car did nothing to reduce my view!
He made up some story about fiddling with the radio and drove on – I phoned the police with a description and number plate and the road and direction of travel.
I’ve no idea if they did anything, but it made me feel better to have done all I could
alibongo001Full MemberI think Go Henry is excellent!
It also has tips on money management and is good for helping the little darlings understand money better
If you know someone who uses it they can introduce you and split some introduction bonus = free money!
alibongo001Full MemberI have has similar experience on a Charge cooker I bought a couple of years ago.
Derailleur went on a trip through the spokes and broke the hanger.
I went for a Shimano derailleur and shifter as I had lot of shifting issues – more ghost shifting than on my full suspension!
No issues of indexing since the move
(I still have the remains of the GX unit with barely worn jockeys if anyone would like it for spares)
alibongo001Full MemberI have a Delonghi machine which is excellent – magnifica
As mentioned above you can use normal coffee in the grinder bit and turn the switch for the de-caff coffee on the odd occasion to accept ground coffee in the top.
If you shop around I think you can get them for around £200.
I’m not a coffee snob – but when real coffee is so easy it makes sense – although I really don’t like instant now!
