That is the girl wearing the bikini for the avoidance of doubt!

Surely the best way would be to be driven in an open top Ferrari 458 buy the dark haired model in the blurred lines video, wearing only a bikini?

Our process here is the 10 commandments!

Basically they have a list of 10 things they have to do, which relieves them of the bad thing that could happen to them at the end of the night.

We have had a guy who was training to become a pilot stand on a chair and sing “come fly with me”, with a pretend hairy muscly chest showing through a wide open shirt……………one of the best night I have had!

This is an interesting thread, as much for the content and debate on topic as much as it is for a bit of people watching!

I am doing this to reduce the 25% free body I have at the moment and would chip in with the following:

1, Eating less on 2 days of the week may be helpful for some people, based on the fact that for some 2 days of high effort is easier than 7 days of consistent “dieting”

2, The fast days seem to make you think about food in a different way, basically a better understanding of the calorie content of food to keep to the 600 calories means you are less likely to blow loads of calories on the other days

3, I think there is also an emotional investment in that on fast days you put effort in, then you are less likely to make poor food choices on non fast days (weight watchers is successful partly because of a financial and group investment like this)

4, I am not sure about the claims of this diet replicating a more historically appropriate diet (early man struggled to get enough food). But there does seem to be some positive markers e.g. Leptin etc in studies suggesting that this way of eating has physiological benefits.

Hope this adds to the debate!

OP One of the things this diet may do is help you “listen” to your body, if you are shaking / bonking then clearly food would be a good idea! Protein is digested slowly and may help?

Another vote for the Delonghi Magnifica here (some company in Nottingham if I remember right)

I bought it from Ebay as a refurb (about £200), but was pretty new looking when we opened it.

So far it has been used for over a year with no issues, easy to clean and makes a nice brew.

It does benefit from better coffee beans in the top!

Had a great time in the Italian lakes.

The best day was when I took the funivia up to Monte Baldo, then carried on up to the top of Altissima.

Lots of snow at the top, lots of fun at the bottom.

Very rocky and technical riding………….great fun!

Thanks for the suggestions, will look out for skull / anaconda next time.

My vote would be Sparky dave @ cycle fast, nearish B & Q in Halifax:

I have used him and found him to be quick, well priced and reliable.

I am taking my Orange 5, so might struggle!

Last time I hired a bike, only about 100mm suspension and brakes the wrong way around was a recipie for disaster…………so I fell off 3 times and did myself a nasty knee gash!

Will look at the above suggestions, thanks!

Rice is good, but silica gel is betterer!

Check around the house to see if you have some in any old shoe / electrical boxes.

Or you can order some online.

It works many times better then rice!

(I once had a thought to sell a sealed bag with 100g silica gel packet in it as a phone saver- keep it in the messy drawer until you need it – never sold one!)

The larger SB8 is a lot better than the smaller ones, has a bit more meat to it and is less likely to puncture from my experience.

I have just gone tubeless with mine and it is performing well on the front.

Your post has got me thinking about putting one on the back as it is going to be dry until September!

I am just in the process of doing the same.

Front one done and successfully ridden 16 miles on Tuesday.

To keep costs down I would suggest the following:

    1, Valves from Superstar components=£7
    2, Tape from superstar =£7
3, Stans fluid = £13 from most places if you ask!

I guess the advantage of doing it with the tape is that it should be good for about 4-5 wheels and the fluid should do the same.

There is also something that seems wrong to me in using the rim strip with the valve in as surefly it is almost the same (weight) as an inner tube?

Anyway, hope this helps……..no probs so far!

    Hi All,

I have gone for a 25 rear and 23 front.

I could propose that the front tyre needs to be as thin as possible for good aerodynamics and that this is less important for the rear.

However the reality is I was getting more punctures than I would like and thought a (marginally) fatter tyre would help with less snake-bites.

No punctures yet and the bike does not feel too different to before.

Is this the best solution or a compromise with the worst of both worlds?

I am sure I will find out below!

I have been offered a free month on Premium, so am trying it.

I don’t think I will be continuing it after the month because:

Most of the extras need a power meter to be useful

You can download GPX of routes by other methods

Velowviewer does a great job of adding to the data for free.

I do like the suffer score though (how often do you get told you are Epic?)

Not really enough to justify the cost for a year really!

There is an option within strava to make a part of any ride you have done into a segment.

You just need to let it know the start and end of the area you want and give is a subtley obtuse name!

Apparently some silicone lube on them (with no brake pads in) might help them become unstuck until you can do a proper job on them later?

a couple of things to remark on your post:

1, You must have very large testicles to take a picture yourself at that speed!

2, You will be running out of fuel very soon at those revs!

    3, What is your job?

I have Admiral and have found them OK, although no claims yet.

They were significantly cheaper than insuring separately as our x5 went up to about £1100 on its own one year. Managed to get my Scirocco and a 911 all done for less than £2000.

Each year it seems to go up, but a few challenging questions seem to shave a couple of 100’s off!

Firstly, I do have a vested interest in this topic as I have a bike for sale!

    But…….

My mid 2000’s Marin Wolf ridge has served me well over the last few years and taken me to the same places as my friends with much more expensive machines.

It is a large 17.5″ and has a lot of good kit (fox suspension, Hope brakes etc)

Marins could be a good choice for an older FS bike as the bearings have a lifetime guarantee (not many others do), they also seem to be less trendy than some other brancs and therefore are relatively good value.

PM me if you like the sound of my bike for you friend!

    I agree skids!

I can’t get past the wanting to know what car people drive as if this in some way highlights their skill as a driver / quality of risk assessment etc.

Do I change personality if I am driving my BMW 320d, X5 or Porsche? (or Fiesta / Fiat 500)

    Interesting thread this!

Lots of jumping to conclusions about other people’s driving and the safety thereof.

I have to drive a lot for work and have done so for many years, probably averaging over 20k a year for my working life.

I have noticed a lot of the behaviour in the above trail, same speed regardless of conditions etc It would seem the average speed on most single carriage way is 44 mph currently.

I do overtake (more than) occasionally and have had some indignant flashes of the lights for my trouble, regardless of the distance left pre and post overtake. It seems that some people do not like anyone exceeding their definition of the safe speed!

I guess the take home message is that speed needs to be used safely, sparingly and with consideration for the conditions and other users of the road.

I would say that the fault is as much with the mono-speeders as the charge of the late braking Audi brigade!

Objects in a vaccum / space would continue in the way you describe.

On earth the friction with the air acts as a brake and ultimately the 2 opposing forces call it a draw @ terminal velocity.

I had a great time yesterday at the city cross

The atmosphere was great and the whole event had a good feel to it.

Falling off and breaking a finger did take the edge off it for me, but I am looking forward to next year already

If the cassette swap does not fix it, that is what I would look at after.

I did it and probably would not bother again!

    Issues were

1, Cobbles / general bumpyness of the path making it uncomfortable

    2, Mud

Didnt have any clear bike issues although I have noticed another rear wheel spoke going!

    Hope this helps!

Looks like they are 1/4 inch ones from a bit more research.

Apparently most common for a rear wheel is 9 of these per side.
