As others have said above, if you can lose some weight then you may never stray in to the diabetes zone.

Pre diabetes is a bit of a vague concept as it is measures by blood sugar, its a bit like looking at a paint chart and deciding where black starts on a range of white to black!

Low GI foods would be a good idea as they reduce the spike of sugar after a meal (this stimulates a spike of insulin).

Your body basically is becoming resistant to the insulin that it makes, don’t underestimate the good that exercise can do to restore this.

Diabetes uk is a good website to look at, there is lots of nonsense on the web related to diabetes!

I was really surprised when I sent my Kirium back to tag through a local jewellers.

They said they fit a new battery and then monitor the voltage drop over a few days. If the drop is high, the watch needs a service -£120. If the drop is OK just a battery – £50

Imagine my surprise when I picked it up with only a £50 bill!

ONce you have managed to stretch it onto the rim, it is easier to refit if you have a puncture. IME

I use SPD’s for both road and MTB

Usually I use new shoes on the road bike for a year or so then trickle them down for use on the MTB where they get proper dirty.

This way they do seem to last a bit longer and I have nicer shoes for the road bike for longer!

I’ve played for the last 8 years or so and find it good to mix up the cycling

I also heard that too much cycling can shorten the Achilles – football is a good way to counter that (if it really happens)

I think it is a quite different cycle of exercise, think high intensity reps for 40 mins, rather than a few hours of sustained effort.

I am sure it must be good for you!

Also worth using a bit of car polish on the frame to stop it getting dirty again.

Apparently Silicone spray is good for this too!

They do a very simple light set at Aldi/Lidl occasionally.

For the princely sum of about £3!

I have a few sets and always have a set in the back pack for just in case.

    – I think On one have some similar all year around.

    Hi OP

A bit left field, but Mercedes are throwing lots of incentives to fleet companies at the moment

You may well get an E class for the money if you want to keep it 2 years with 20k total miles

Although I suppose you wont have anything to show for it at the end!?

    Edukator – Troll
Some interesting ideas on here, just one made me suck through my teeth, the Clio V6. It’s a short car with a 13m turning circle which means it’s sporting credentials are zero, nul, nix.

??? Interesting way of deciding whether a car is sporty there Edukator!

How is turning circle one of the main determinants of sportyness??

(BTW I would imagine if you have a rear drive Clio and a heavy right foot it would turn around in a fraction of the quoted turning circle)

OP if you go for the tr6, definitely get a UK one (I had a US version on Stromberg carbs – sounded nice, but didnt go well)

I’m going to go through my list of potential classics and write a few off on the basis of their number of cup holders!

What sort of stuff would you be selling Rob?

Ebay has good reach, you are allowed to link to your business web site on the my information bit.

Could be useful to get some sales through Ebay and include a flyer with your website address on all items purchased.

Depending on the scale of the outfit, many people seem to be trying to sell on Facebook recently – no fees

I guess decinding what it is you are trying to do, then aligning everything to that end would be a good idea – is it more sales? Is it traffic to a bricks an mortar shop? etc

    Hope this helps!

Pretty sure it is the old gaslight lead pipe there Rich.

When you look at the end of the spur what can you see?

(the only other thing I have seen like it is some lead conduit in my house that used to hold a wire to run the servants bell system!)

I OP I am not sure exactly what you are looking for but I have a couple of 20″ kids bikes not being used

Its quite good as if you use it to buy the things you would have bought anyway online

I use it @ sportsdirect for the kids bike stuff / amazon etc

There really is no catch except you have to remember to click through from the Quidco site and I sometimes forget.

I think there are a couple of things here OP

Where did you buy the car – Shirley the insurance should pay up enough for you to buy the same car through the same route ie if it was a big main dealer then the price offered should be to get a similar spec / miles / condition etc from the same dealer??

Secondly I think the urban myth is probably true, only ever accept the 3rd offer (the other low ball ones are just to try it on)

I would be looking for cars that are as good as the one you lost from the same place and making sure the prices are as high as I could (and the miles low / spec the same or slightly higher) and doing the scrap book thing mentioned above!

Look at Carcraft if you want some comedy (high) prices!

    Nooooooo!

I had a claims company as part of my insurance service a while ago.

I watched helpless as a lady scraped the front of her mini down the front wing, both doors and the back wing of my car. when she stopped I opened her door and took her keys. She was taken from the scene in a police car and got a 17 month ban for drink driving.

The claim company were still dithering about the claim almost a year later.

It took a fairly direct conversation with them outlining the above (as I was annoyed and fed up of repeated requests for information) until they finally sorted it. If I remember correctly one of the many conversations I had was them discussing a knock for knock offer from the ladies insurance company!

Do it yourself, you will save yourself time and hassle!

Condensing bikes seems to be a good idea.

Are they more efficient than regular bikes?

Like most my decision is based on

    Weather
    Amount of mud around
    Time available

Basically default choice is MTB as it is more fun

Road bike comes out when there is a limited time to use up or the trail conditions mean it would be a slog.

The road bike is also good when the MTB is broken!

I have been for a few family holidays, always to Malcesine, which is great.

We stayed at the Majestic Palace (great family rooms at the rear of the hotel near the kids pools)- You can do it almost all inclusive and the food is really good!

The hotel has a locked bike room and you can do many 2 hour or so loops from the hotel.

The cable car is also an option, with 15 mins past the hour being the designated bike uplift cars (only). I did a great day going up to Mt Baldo and then a further 400m of climbing before taking the well signed route towards Riva / Torbole back to the lake and hotel.

Take your bike (lots of hire shops but brakes the wrong way around!

Its a really good place to be whether you cycle or not, beautiful and lots to see an do!

A mate of mine ended up with a holiday for 8 in America.

He also bought a ceramic urinal! – This came in very handy when he built a frame for it and we took it camping in Silverstone for the grand prix!
