Scruff: I think I can beat that – I saw Nirvana at their only ever gig in Scotland at the Calton Studios in Edinburgh.

Mossimus, I saw them a couple of months back at the o2 in Glasgow. They played the eight legged groove machine start to finish and then went off, came back and played soem of the later stuff. It really was good. Funny to see all the thirty-something forner indie kids outisde the venue checking their blackberrys and iPhones when 20 years back they'd be smoking a spliff!

Rusty Spanner, Freak Scene is truly one of the greats. Can't beleive I forgot about it.

I think this was 1989: I went to see the Wonderstuff at Glasgow Barrowlands and the support acts were Neds Atomic Dustbin, Jesus Jones and Mega City 4. That was some gig.

When I were a lad, Robin Guthrie used to come in and see his brother who's office was across the corridor from my dad's in Grangemouth. He was a really nice guy. I made him tea a couple of times and he gave me some CD's.

I'd avoid the Glentress Hotel: good food, crap bar, really crap rooms. good location though.

I certainly wish I had the nerve to do this. I'm heartily sick of the daily grind and wish I could do something else. Problem is I earn quite a lot (don't want to come accross as a dick so sorry if I have there) and my wife and kids would have to make some serious sacrifices. I'm genuinely thinking about not coming back in after Christmas.

i've dropped a couple of hints to my wife to get me a LowePro Slingshot for my birthday next week. As its a rucksack (kinda) it looks like it'll be a bit more steady on the bike than an ordinary camera case/bag.

Nissan Navara for me. Five folk; five bikes; 2 dogs; some bags. No probs.

Rides a bit like a van though. And it smells a bit of its last home – a cowshed.

They should encourage them to learn for learning's sake and that you don't stop learning when you pass through the school gates at night: My lad was watching something on TV about how ethylene in ripe fruit helps to ripen other fruit – he told me about it and that he was going to tell his science teacher about it the next day. "Good on you, son" I said, quite proud. Next night I asked him what she said: "It doesn;t work like that" she said, and walked away. Nothing like a bit of encouragement, eh?

Looks like a load of toss. I really can't stand these shows with affected scottish accent: Chewin' the Fat, River City, City Lights (remember that?), Happy Holidays. Nobody up here speaks that was – except actors.

I got a bose one last Xmas and I think it was about £150. Its not brilliant but its only in the kitchen so its acceptable.

I hope to get a B&W Zeppelin for the living room this year but Mrs B isn't to keen.

His version of NIN's "Hurt" is one of the best cover versions ever. And the video… sadder than Bambi.
