Northwind – have you posted the 12mm axle conversion yet? I need it for my mega build!!!

Yeah, I walked it a few years back – remember thinking it would be a bit of a mission on the bike!

    Its a lucky dip.

If your name gets drawn out of the hat first you get your order dispatched same day (as they state on the site), if not it will just fall behind the sofa and found x days later when the cleaner sweeps the floor.

I just got my 55 rc3 ti forks and stuck them on my current frame (2005 hustler) and though it’s really raked out with a higher than ideal bb I need to break in these forks!

Don’t have the cash to pay for the mega yet so need to get selling! Keep an eye on the classifieds people!

    Getting this back on track,

I have just taken the plunge and pre-ordered a med in silver through Descent Gear.

Fingers crossed the date doesn’t slip any more!!

Anyone know of any good deals on 2010 models? Singletrack Bikes has sold out despite their website. 👿

Nice looking tool, but I dont think it would work with the type of problem I have!

Its at the machine shop now 🙁

Ok, what headset will fit an ariel (taper HT) to allow std 1 1/8th forks?

    Worth the cash?

How did the new Heckler ride Mike?!

    alexonabike

Im considering this vs the NP Mega.

My concerns of the Ariel is the steeper HA (68 vs 66) and the higher BB it will have with 160mm forks on, having been designed around 140mm.

Anyone care to reassure me, or tell me to just get the Mega? I am wanting the bike to be Alps capable and trail centre endurable!

So if I go down the heat route, do I aim the heat at the frame or the bearing?

    alexonabike

    Right.. saga continues.

After a helpful spray of shock-and-unlock and a good bash with the largest drift I could get in, the bearings have both fallen apart leaving the outer firmly fixed in the frame. FUBAR.

    What next? New frame?!

Not sure how I can get a socket to pass through the centre of the opposite bearing. Im using an 8mm allen key as a drift as that the largest thing I can get through the bearing!

Aviod mobiles.co.uk. I read reviews online and thought ‘Hey, people only write reviews if they have a bad experience, so many people must have been fine’. They messed me around too and even though they are the same company as carphone warehouse, the high street shops wont admit this or help you out.

    Beware

Cheers for that info, It’s what I thought too. I think the psychological confidence from having a stiffer, burlier fork up front help in certain situations too.

I was thinking that I would need a soft or x-soft spring. I guess its a case of suck-it-and-see!

    What a nice job

I bet the money ain’t all that though

Money isn’t that important to me – as long as I have enough to get by. Who really puts up with a job they hate just so they can buy a new car each year?

I’m moving to Tresco (Isles of Scilly) for a year to work on the Abbey Gardens. Not many jobs get you to such random and interesting places – life is for living, not saving.

Ridings not much cop though – any excuse to buy a Pugsley!

I always thought the Gomtaro was fixed, not folding – not really suitable for carrying in a pack as a ‘just-in-case’ tool. Silky do make some folding ones too.

Is there such thing as an AUS equivalent to the distance selling regs here in the UK?

Nothing really, its an RSP with the John Cooper Garages ‘S’ conversion, done 3 month after purchase in 1990. I have just been maintaining it – the carbs are shot and leaking so much air that it wont idle at all. Still puts out 82 BHP and 85 ft/lbs of torque. Not bad for a mild 1275.

And you thought bikes were expensive!

Even with its flying colour pass, I may have to sell mine in the near future. I just can’t afford to keep 2 cars and the mini owes me some money! Really wish I could dig deep to keep it though. I have to leave it with my parents as they have a small garage! They want it gone! 😥

In my line of work, £16k is what you may get after 10 years of experience and numerous qualifications – academic and professional.

Not a bad pay for a ‘lifestyle’ job if you ask me.

I think it’s illegal to kill a swan as they are property of the Queen. Or something like that…
