Used mine on a natural xc trail at the weekend.

I wasn’t very happy with the front end grip but at least a comfy ride. I’ll be switching back to 29″ and doing the same route to compare.

Trailblazer on the rear handled mud well. Trax fatty wasn’t impressing me when lent over on the front.

Just like having your seat clamp too tight, reverbs won’t like too much clamping force on their main body, so go easy.

Mine lost air pressure because of too much clamping force.

I always go top tube mounting (or floating) about its cog with a very light clamping force.

If I had the choice of riding with anyone, I’d pick Tony because:

I’d be guaranteed to learn something about my riding, in a friendly and non condescending way

I’d be guaranteed to have a laugh

I’d probably surprise myself and scare myself in equal measure

I’d know there is still plenty of work to do on my riding

There would be plenty of high 5’s

There would be a wheel size debate which would dismiss anything north of 26″ as a gimmick.

6 months with my chain incorrectly through the new rear mech, rubbing on the metal tab. Which then fell off in my hands.

Cross threaded a newly restored old school bmx frame bb shell.

Various times forgetting to torque up car wheel nuts.

My favourite was putting a woodruff key into the main crank pulley incorrectly, on a freshly rebuilt Peugeot mi16 engine that had been fettled by cosworth. Pulley slipped, and smashed a couple of valves into my shiney New head.

best bit for me is that I’m in the bushes/down the slope/clinging onto a tree/crippled on the floor a lot less.

That’s nice to hear. I think he is superb.

I’d not thought about taking the family along, good shout (although knowing my lot they would take over the sessio as they are bike mad)

Just 4 questions….. That has changed the mental side of my riding no end.

I’m with northwind. 30 min of brutal intervals, or until I pass out/ blow chunks. I just can’t motivate myself to do more indoors

I bought some useless paragon tape too. Just would not adhere to contours, even with heat.

    floval flyer

34, intent on getting back on a track when my kids are a bit older and join a club.

I had a quick blast on it when I got back from work at the local track. A few laps and I was knackered

I slapped an on one steel fat fork and fat wheel into my specialized epic last winter as a hack bike.

It worked ok, but that’s a short travel bike.

Frankenbike was its nickname and it looked pretty horrible

BadkyWiredDog, that would surely require me to answer your question with a question, would it not?

    Those stats are 34% correct.

    For 400, I think that’s a good move.

Jedi is worth the trip, especially so if you have ridden so long and feel the way you do about your riding.

By the op own admission, he has no skill.

A better fork is just a band aid over skills, and could even get him into more trouble. Still, 99% of people will plump for upgraded kit over tuition.

Yeah, yeah I occasionally ride a rough, abused Bronson :) needs must at some places but I prefer a light it. there is a time and a place for a bouncy bike. I realised after my bump the Bronson really wasn’t helping me . It was patching over my confidence, body weaknesses, poor positioning and bailing me out. Stripping it all back to riding my ht and bmx got me back where I needed to be, and now I’m starting to ride the Bronson a bit better.

Building a garden bridge is not impossible, it doesn’t mean it should be done.

Havoc, possibly over selling it somewhat if we are just on about cyclists.

Cyclists give way to pedestrians crossing, what a noble thought. That’s the biggest part of the change that worries me.

If we are talking cars and cycles turning left, then it’s a lot more involved and havoc in terms of physical changes and legislation

Circa 2 hours to cannock for you? (if the traffic is ok, which it probably won’t)

I’d rather go to fod as you can nip onto the dh trails for something more technical and have a roll down launchpad, and it will probably take you about the same time as getting to cannock with poor traffic

Pearce xc is about the same travelling time as fod…. Much more of a challenge

I’d buy a cheaper fork and go see Tony aka ukbikeskills.

Then I’d invest in the forks when your base skills/pace require better equipment.

Better kit doesn’t make you a better rider. If you have been wise enough to self diagnose some skill issues, go make an investment to your riding.

It will cause havoc with the controlled pedestrian crossing on the left of the junction you are approaching. It’s no longer controlled. This puts vulnerable groups at risk and would fall foul of the discrimination act… (Please, just don’t…I have to deal with this on most projects)

It will also require an update of various legal documents, for passing through the ‘controlled zone’ of a signal junction.

Nice idea, difficult to retrospectivley fit into our infrastructure.

Christ, swinley must be pants and flat. I find cannock dreary and not worth the 60 min drive any more.

See how far it is to pearce xc (Hopton woods) near Ludlow. It’s way marked and far more involving (up and down). Couple of Laps of that and I’m totally done in.

I’ve just restored a dog rough se floval flyer so I can have a ride with my kids at the local tracks.

I swear this has done more for the hole in my core from some broken ribs, than any other riding.

Only problem is the bike attracts too much attention from the local kids as said tracks

That you should also find a local track and teach yourself bmx kung fu, which will translate to riding off road far better. Never too old for a bmx.

I’m using a light bicycle 38mm rim with trailblazer rear and vee track (both 2.8). My yelli is a mk1 but 2013. Mud clearance on the rear has been fine so far. The trailblazer having no tread on the side doesn’t appear to hold mud on the sidewalk (the main pinch point to the stays in the rear).

I’m going to build up my 29″ wheels again

So, last time it happened my banks changed my cards.

The credit monitoring has got to happen now. I’m tempted to just get it organised myself.

Are there sufficient grounds to leave talk talk based on this?

Same here, waiting for the reckon to replace the trax fatty.

I’ve found it steers less above 15 psi. I’ve ran mine a touch harder of late and I’ve not noticed any performance issues. I’m not brave enough to try 10 psi on the carbon rims with how I ride

I’ve used the Mont blanc barracuda’s for a few years.

They need an updated design as you cant fit anything wider than a 2.2 fully inflated in the scoop for the front wheel.

Spank oozy do some nice rims.

I’ve used arch ex on my 29″ but I’ve just killed the rear. I wish I’d slapped a Flow rim on the rear now.

As above, I’d plugged in my cable for charging my light, and not the Garmin cable.

I found this out after wiping the Garmin

We went after a very wet, cold week in Dec. I could barely stand up where you park the cars.

The trails rode perfect though, so just hope it’s not too grim when you go.

If not competing, I’d be using the + wheels, its just more enjoyable if you are riding with friends. When I hit a trail centre though I reach for another fs bike (normally)

I’m a couple of seconds slower a lap round the local pump track with the + wheels on, and I think it’s just the tyre weight for throwing it round. On the single track my times are pretty similar, but I’m still recovering from injury atm

I’m still on the fence, for my ht the extra rear compliance is nice, makes riding it all day a pleasure. The extra grip is also reassuring, and downhill tech sections are a lot easier.

    But,

Outright pace I think I’m quicker with the bigger wheels when I’m on it (just beaten up a bit more).

As for type of riding- natural single track in wyre forest.

Rich, nice yelli! Thankfully I wasn’t doing it off my own back. My lbs built up some rims for me to try and assess clearance. Tyres do grow a touch, my vee has stopped thankfully or I’d need new forks!

That depends on how long the carbon rims last! Touch wood they are ok for now and I did go for a stronger lay up.

As its been dry all week I dusted off the full sys and I didn’t ride mine today. I missed it.

I’m going to try the bike with a 29″ front slapped back in.
