just read it on the comments board dirt website regarding 29 dh bikes. It is the most pointless comparison. I have read it before and thought why compare two dissimilar things and then say that they are alike? Are mountain bikers/dirt readers this mentally, creatively and literary challenged? Or is this level of uselessness infiltrated throughout the world of cycling?

what on earth are you saying total shell? are you saying that if its not in the triangle you described its not Yorkshire? excluding Skipton, Barnsley and Scarborough?

Or are yo saying if you live in those areas the engineering techniques shown in the video are considered cutting edge?

i don’t get the retrospective banning. pointless.

also i am glad metallica will never be the same. crap over rated band for fat middle aged men who still live with mummy.

We have the same cnc punch & bender. That vid is a terrible advert for UK engineering, it plays on a very outdated but somehow romantic idea that the public have.

this was my point exactly. though i was not so eloquent.

i am an engineer. just not an engineering consultant. however engineers tend not to get their hands dirty; that be the job of welders, setters operators etc. probably far more skillful in real terms. considering I am currently sat engineering at my desk.

the drop outs were not in line in two directions. hence the man had to bend the bike with a big bar followed by a hammer. what is not to understand. yes heating metal causes miss alignment but there are ways around this. I am sure that trek don’t pay some bloke to bend the out of line bits with a leather hammer and bar.

They pay some small Taiwanese child peanuts to do it (bend the miss aligned frames that is).

by square i mean ‘in-line’ or ‘plumb’ or within tolerance. you know one drop out being square with the other. sorry for ambiguity.

yes they are a nice bikes. I am not a hater; I just think that they are over priced. Especially seeing the quality control procedures. Still I gues an item is worth what people will pay for them so I can’t really say that they are over priced. I just don’t think they are worth the price.

Where my money – is something a poor man might say/chant.

been thinking they were daft money, but seeing the workmanship

So you didn’t watch the video then?

Sorry but bending things that are not square is bad engineering not good engineering. The fact you have to pay over the odds for this shows what a bunch of plonkers orange owners are. Especially if this has made you consider buying one. I am a Yorkshire man BTW.

I do have a man crush on Guy though.

I’m suprised that no one has pointed out the government is at the same time as screwing over peoples pensions/reirement age it is also increasing the amount of money available to people claiming benefits. Some of the people claiming benefits are young and able bodied enough to work and contribute to the tax system. That is a bit of an injustice and probably a biter pill to swallow.

so in essence i am better just driving to work then going to the gym or on a night ride when i get home?

Well the job (which I havent got yet but do stand a good chance as I am up against one other person) is for a precission engineering company but I will not be doing any manual work. So I guess I will be working in an office alot. The route is not too steep but will require me going down the a61 from sheffield to alfreton so its not flat but equally not too steep. just trying to weigh up weather its worth me doing. I easily ride 20miles on mtb in a few hours or probably an hour on the road bike. most saturday i will ride 70 plus miles on my road bike. so I was just trying to weigh up whether it is a good idea to actually attempt it. been useful so far. I’m also pleased because it is easily the longest thread I’ve ever started. 😀

basically john peels favourite genre of music was dubstep. due to its energy, he died shortly after the genre gained his recognition.

Potential looking at a 27 mile commute. i am a reasonably strong cyclist but I am concrned that this may be too far so I am wondering about drivng part of the journey at first or driving one day then cycling home then cycling to work the following day and driving home. just weighing it up really.

after reading margrave of the marshes i can tell you that dubstep was john peels favourite genre of music ever. i guess thats partly because he saw the begining of something with so much potential. i guess he might have had something to do with it conception; by proxy. seeing how he was the first to play hip hop and jungle etc on public radio (bbc).

does any one drive to their work with their bike then cycle home cycle to work the following day etc? Also how long is the 25 mile commute taking 2ish hrs?

    alex222

does any one have a longer commute and drive part of it? anyone managing a 20 mile plus commute purely by bike?

From the way I gather is Prehistory is just another category within History, History is the study of past events.

    That’s some waffle right there

    😀
