I am 36 and I have one MSc however I was living abroad and working in industrial rope access. However a few hideous people, stand up arguments, thinking I was going to get punched, threats of violence, bullying etc I have also decided that I need a change. So I want to get a PhD. First I must complete a second MSc. So I am moving back to the town I was born (Sheffield), where I no longer have family, to move into halls of residence to complete this MSc(Res). Then I will hopefully go off else where to complete my PhD or EngD. I am quite scared/apprehensive and I don’t know what life will bring in the next 5 years but I suspect that in the end I will be much happier.

I am not an expert. It seems that there are experts who have lots of data available for you to look at if you wish. Or you could make statements based on opinion and then not listen/read the opinions of experts. Up to you.

In the interest of balance, I have returned to the UK. Admittedly to study further and I will probably leave again once I have gained all the qualifications that I want. I would also add that employment law here is much better than anywhere in the USA, Canada, Mexico, etc.

Is there any evidence to back up the claim that it will not get more expensive but that holiday pay will be reduced. Or the alternative that others suggest, it will get more expensive but holiday won’t be reduced?

My question is, as a person living in BC who is considering coming back. Will the legal payed annual leave, and relatively low cost of living/high wages be impacted by this.

Or to put it another way. Will the UK become as expensive as BC, and will you only get 10 days payed annual leave once Brexit happens?

IEC visa first. I would ignore the speculation of people here and visit the CIC website and look up IEC visa It is like getting a ticket to Glastonbury so possibly now, or when the boarder opens would be either a) busy as **** or b)not busy because people have speculated that it will not happen. Either way… Visit the website and create a profile. Getting a job won’t be hard. In a bike shop?

My job is out there. Rope access and geotechnical engineering/ground improvements. I fell into it. Trained mechanical engineer, however 10 years of life on the road sort of brought me here by accident. I get to see some cool stuff. I get to do some cool stuff. However the job involves many hazardous conditions daily as well as working in all weather. I don’t know if I love my job but it can be very satisfying. Though the projects I work on and the amount of diesel/aeronautical fuel they get through actually makes me feel pretty guilty/sad and worried for the state of the planet.

Aren’t most of the parables in the Bible lifted directly from Buddhism?

Historically speaking father Christmas was a fly agaric mushroom that reindeers ate, then the far northern reindeer herding communities ate the piss soaked snow and tripped balls. True story. So technically there is merit in the historical study of father Christmas. Just ask Jesus.

Offer to sit down and smoke some weed with him, whilst talking about it. Make it seem really uncool by calling it things like doobies, whacky backy, the devil’s lettuce, be one of those really embarrassing adults that smoke weed. Should put him off.

The UCI and the IOC have scientists who have constantly been adjusting the rules of a living document that determines whether or not someone can compete in a certain category.

This person has jumped through every hoop required. That is the end of it.

So until you are a person advising that council your opinion counts for exactly the square root of **** all.

Do Orange need to produce a carbon bike to survive. I have a couple of pals bought Specialised full carbon bike for less than my Five.

Presumably if they cannot make a aluminium bike for less than a carbon bike then the cost of there carbon bikes would be stratospheric.

Supermarkets don’t help either. I mean it’s never hard to find the chocolate and crispsready meals is it?

Never been able to watch a full episode because it’s crap. No matter how fit Kaley Cuoco is I cannot endure the canned laughter and one liners of the majority of American Comedy.

    “it’s all bollocks”

The thing that I find hard to believe is there is a heaven and a hell in the form described by organised religion more than the fact that there may be some form of life after death.

As Alan Watts puts it imagine going to sleep and never waking up in the same light as waking up after never having gone to sleep.

    damned to an eternal hell

Hell is where all the cool people are.

[edit]Even though the idea of such a polarised afterlife is daft anyway; if there is in fact a life after death[/edit]

Bullshit. A sweeping and insulting statement.
    People fail themselves.

You need to join the real world.

The real world where the NHS did not let my mother or three of my grand parents down during their final stage of life? The real world where the NHS have effectively treated my and friends for falling off bikes / cliffs etc whilst taking part in outdoor pursuits / sports. The real world where ignorance and stupidity is rewarded? The real world where people apportion the blame for their problems at other peoples feet because they are not willing to face up to their own poor choices?

Can people not work on their gears or something?

Ive never had any issues with either sram or shimano.

Not the function of either. It’s the way a sram mech will smash into a million shards if you look at it wrong.

    [edit]Plus Shimano a)has pedigree and b)looks way nicer[/edit]

$9k for something with Sram on it though!!

That is the biggest let down; that the command post and non-internal cable routing.

Really need xx1 to have a budget equivalent and drop the front mech forever.

Shimano to make an equivalent 11 speed drive train and stop bikes from coming with dog awful stock sram kit.

Arse-biscuits!! Well… everythings suddenly become a lot clearer now. Have you seen my usual riding partner?

Curse you!!! Relative rather than absolute judgement!!!!!

Though also when people are so judgmental it may be difficult to find the motivation to do what the guy in the picture above is doing. He could be a racing snake by now. Fair play I say; in pink as well.

is this country utterly going/gone to the dogs?

Based on some of the responses on this forum from ‘active’ people; in particular this on

problem is though if you do want to get off your ass it costs.
