Niterider…….is it still suitable to use your horse lorry / camp site during the race? Will have a kit back and cool box with me!

Was intending to park the car away from the main parking but would therefore need a base and somewhere to catch up, get a proper seat/hot drinks etc.

Good effort guys, keep up the excellent work. Did you have a decent posse today Niterider? At this rate you'll be half the man you were last week!! 😉

Planning a rekkie tomorrow nite to check up on all your good work.

Big thaw here today in the Muir/Inverness 😐

    Excellent day out lads……….

Hard work for sure but rather rewarding all the same. Don't think I've ever been so warm in -7deg before. The sweat was pouring down my back! And testing the descent's was awesome fun.

Plenty of work still ahead, so if there's any volunteers out there get in touch via this thread and someone will let you know the plan so you can meet up.

Lets keep it going 😀 I'm excited already……….

Certainly Doug. Tomorrow will involve a ride and some work though.

Bring your steed (leave the spade unless it fits in a camel-bak. You'll need both hands on the bars where we're going)

    Cheers. See you tomorrow.

    Tremedous………what a great day that was 😀

Bring on tomorrow. Will you be back in time Pitto?

Tyres changed and looking super 'narrow' 😐

AFAIA……we have removed all tree fell from the course 🙂 Cheers Chris, good work.

Most of the lower sections are easily do-able and serious fun. And I don't just mean the downs.

We are meeting at the shop tomorrow, heading off at 11am for a group ride and general clear to the top section. All welcome.
Bring a folding spade if you have one. No worries if you don't. Feet + tyres also work!

This has the making of an absolute classic 😀 but a nervous week of weather watching lies ahead.

A mate and myself will be heading (cycling) from the shop around 10.30am tomorrow for a rekkie on the course to cut out any tree fell we find! Spades at the ready 🙂

……..if any one else fancies a spin.

Hoping to go out both days……….

Cheers mate on the tyres front. Spot on. I'll call in to the shop with cash on Saturday and give them an outing

Let the work begin………Cullen, your more than welcome to join us. Just bring a spade and yourself 🙂

Will check with the shop first but was planning to spade out a line on the singltrack. A small section of at least.

Gonna be some hard work ahead 😐

Weather permitting – Decided to take the bike for a spin too! Folding spade and bow saw in camel back…………happy days 🙂

I'll be heading out on Saturday to clear some tree fell on the singletrack with a hand saw.

Not been out since before December so where best to start?
Park at Steves' old place and walk in reverse from there up to and past Bill?

Its evolution. The human race is accelerating it but no matter what is done we will still have a world that is getting warmer! Delaying the inevitable.

Invest in an ark or build on high ground. I strongly beleive that there should be a minimum height from sea level set, for all new house builds.
    (not trolling!)

    A huge disappointment…………

Used them for my last four holidays abroad and was very impressed with the service. Delays were minimal and staff all very approachable (but stood no nonsense!)

Parents-in-law were to fly out to Egypt on Saturday. Again, booked with Visa so should get their money back but no winter break for them.

Doubt I'll be going on holiday for some time but even if I had the cash I'd be very wary of who to go with.

    So far:

Solo entires: Puffer, 10Under, 10@Moray, Relentless.

Sportives : Bealach Beag, Cairngorm100, Ullapool.

(Not cheap! Racing 2010 will cost me a small fortune 😐 )

Acros – Ceramic. Best money I've spent on a BB (got two still going strong after 18months of 10/12/24hr racing in the Highlands of Scotland)

Tails/Barry Bethal…..your both right. It is a replica shirt the same as the ones the players wear, but you get some 'fake' shirts as well. Was looking for the real McCoy – Nike fit ones.

Caledonia……thanks for the link. Some great prices in there too, but could not find the black away one he's after.

Correct on both accounts……but kids these days, there's no tellin them.

Replica's are a no-no for the young and stupid!

And I'm up in the Highlands of Scotland so it'll need to be internet based.

Local stores do not have this top in kids.

    Aye, White Brothers fork……..pants!

Epicyclo, cheers for the offer. I might take you up on that one day but for the time being I'm sticking to gears 😉

    Alek

    Sam……what does your singular weigh?

I'm 63kg's and tried one last weekend but found it particularly heavy!! Might not have had the right gear for the 'puffer' and it had a Whyte fork, which didn't help either. Maybe I just need gears no matter what 😐

Darkness-is-Golden……if in saving the environment the firm saves money so be it. Everyones a winner. Is that not the point of common sense too?

Construction drawings are always issued. Not trying to off-load costs as you mentioned. But design drawings/minor alts for approval etc…..you get the point.

The Building is window-less with heating/air con progammeable and on a timer. Building is rented. Heating etc on a contract with local technicians who check and adjust etc. This will not and can not change.

Lighting is open plan office specific. Again this will not change. No tungstens.

I feel this post is now …..exhausted and in the end completely pointless.

OK…..MAYBE sustainable is not the correct wording (obviously as the question is still lost in translation)

Lets re-phrase it – Any common sense ideas to stop wasting resources or unnecessary land fill dumping. Does that sound more 'correct!'

Again I think I'm going to have to answer my own question, just so that you get the idea of the 'tips' I'm after.

Filling out online application forms (no paper)
Not printing every e-mail for the file – use laptop
Web-site facility to download PDF's for client/contractor use (no paper/no postage)
Use second-class mail for letters where applicable.
Recycle teabags/paper. Disposing of old electrical equipement correctly.
Walk to work/Cycle to work/Car share.
    Turning the heating down.
    Use of motion activated lighting.

Do the STW massive have any other 'simple' suggestions to add?

    And breathe………………………………………………………

Looking into ways to make our office more 'sustainable' so currently working on a green policy.

Recycling paper, photocopying in booklet form, cycling to work, car sharing……..all seem obvious inclusions but do you have any others

OP above. After reading it again I don't really understand how some responses were so 'off the mark'. Generally most of the STW'ers got the question 'tips on how to' make staff and they're use of office a little more enviromentally friendy.

But I did not expect some of the responses at all!! And I thought this was a chat forum where other friendly forum users would happily give out advice as they see fit for the question, and also some banter along the way (Cheers GrahamS).

As for the Eco Warriors of the forum and those a others who are so highly strung that they mis-read the question……!!!! lighten up, just a little bit pls.

C_P – I appreciate your second response but again back to my OP and suggestions quoted which were Recycling paper/printing in booklet form/cycling to work/car sharing. I thought this might give everyone an idea of where the question was going. Obviously not. At no point did I mention Heating (we have M+E consultants for this) insulation, sourcing local materials, use of timber, enviromental impact and all other aspects associated to a Sustainable Report for an individual project. Which are not subjects for bike chat forum. Chill.

And your point about greenwashing I would say has had an impact on every business (not just Architecture).

Must pay more attention on the wording of my 'posts' in future.

'The Management' are working on the policy………

We 'the working staff/technicians' have merely been asked to contribute to any 'other' slightly more obscure ways in which we can/are sustainable.

So apologies for any confusion but all I was after was 'simple' ways to be 'more' sustainable in the work place.

Fax machine is redundant (but some old school contractors still send info from site)

10 people max in office so we all shut down anyway.

    No management system in place.

Not ones that stock Assos mate. Highlands of Scotland. The edges of civilisation.

Otherwise………obviously I would, as I'd prefer to try them allon first before spending the cash which is why I'm asking about the size!

But if they don't fit or I don't like them, I send them back just like every other internet purchase I've made this year. Which is why internet based suppliers are so busy these days 🙂

If I want the best on the market I have to order it……fact. Either through my LBS or other.

    Mediums ordered…….cheers

So if there on the large side. I'd be better off ordering a small + medium as I'm bang on in the middle as far as the size chart goes on Wiggle.

    Alek

Mail order……….so should I go for medium + large?

One of those two is bound to fit best if they are indeed on the small side.

Spokes are spot on – wheels were superbly built by Squarewheels LBS.

This is only a winter wheelset any way as I just bought pro3's for racing.

I'll leave it to the discretion of Squarewheels as they will be rebuilding it for me.

Thanks for the advice, its allowed me to make my decision.

Wheel is about 4 years old IIRC.

Existing hub is goosed. Had hoped to try and keep the costs down so was looking at a direct replacement.

May need to decide whether to just bite the bullet and buy a new rear wheel complete as the 819 rim does have a crack in the rim although this has not caused any issues running tubeless.

And it seems madness just to bin it!!

    Its a dilemma for sure.

The first ones don't look much!!

But the compression ones just might be worth the money. Cheers for the link.
