I agree with Ton it makes me smile every day …well most days
commute 13 miles each way and have done for the past 18 months
on a Charge Tap converted to singlespeed
its the highlight of my day, mostly B roads so not much in the way of
    traffic (more tractors than trucks)
most essentials have been covered full length mudguards, puncture resistant tyres
lights I use a P7 on the front and a nightrider cherry bomb on the back also one of those small clip on
red lights on the back of my helmet 80% of my route is unlit and coming of the backshift at 11pm
in the pissing rain you need as much light as you can get
waterproofs and overshoes i use both on a regular basis (west coast of Scotland it rains occasionally)
but youll get a feel for what works for you after a few runs best of luck and enjoy

45+10 hours commuting contracted 40 but something always crops up I work 5 over 7 so time off midweek & every second weekend off helps with the childcare for our youngest, looks like it might all be changing soon though and not in a good way

With the cafe …seahouse are you implying shoddy service
    is a Scottish phenomenon?
as Ive always found that the couldn’t give a toss attitude
    stretches far and wide
anyone know what’s happening to the cafe/shop at Ae?

Horses for courses and all that Kirroughtree found it a bit bland
Mabie very good Drumlanrig great fantastic natural trails brilliant setting
but my favourite by far is Ae fair bit of climbing but fantastic descents
new berms on the mid section are brilliant not as busy as the other 7 stanes
some of the above comments may indicate why …but hey we cant all like the
same stuff and id rather it stayed a bit quiter so in hindsight forget Ae its crap 🙄

we have a chocolate lab 5 years old and boundless energy I take him out with me on the
bike when i have a local blast never tried any of the trail centres think they might be a bit too busy ..
he was a bit wary of the bike to start with but now fine like anything just build it up slowly.
I use an extended lead on the 1 mile to the local woods as were near a main road but after that
he runs on his own just ahead of me

Picked up a pair of Karrimor gloves in Sports Direct.
for the daily commute I wasnt expecting too much
for £9.99 but they have been great kept my hands
dry and warm in torrential downpours,a lot better
than the Pearl Izumi winter gloves they replaced

I use a P7 on the bars and a cree headtorch
80% of my commute is unlit B roads, had previously used
a cheap bike light set from Halfords which was no use at all …
I always dim the lights if i encounter any traffic
lucky if i see half a dozen cars on the 13 mile commute
    though

As mentioned above it comes with territory,
I work in retail and all our store and support
staff have ban on holidays end of Nov till mid
Jan it’s always been that way, it’s the busiest
time of the year for stores ,she should be
getting enhanced rates for working 26th/27th
so bit more cash in her pocket

giving the commuting a miss today
so far at work one of the shutter doors in the warehouse has caved in
and an internal plasterboard wall collapsed !!!

13 miles each way for me most days 80% country roads
so less traffic more cow shit ,doing it since May
Positives -increased fitness arrive at work invigorated ,
fantastic scenery , extra cash, highlight of my day
which says more about my current job than the commute.
Negatives- weather can get you down sometimes,I live in
the west of Scotland so obviously I’m as hard as nails
but 70mph headwinds and sleet are enough to bring
a grown man to the brink of tears
bit knackered to start with but it gets better
    give it a go

Mostly on my own but do a group ride with 4-5 mates every couple of months too much stopping and faffing about on these group rides for my liking though as theres 1 of the group who will walk up everything that isn’t flat or going down,so selfishly i prefer out on my own !!
