Ours is up as of yesterday. Watching my 2 year old decorate the tree was brilliant, she was so excited about hanging the decorations on her ‘Santa’ tree.

The backlash from the Irish press/radio media in response to the All Blacks’ high hits is huge, were they any different to what is seen in at least one high level game of rugby per week worldwide? Are NZ any worse than any other team at this? The ‘whinging’ coming from the media here is starting to grate given the Irish reliance on the high choke tackle. Has this high hit only come into the game since the influx of league defence coaches? I’m not excusing the Fekitoa one which was very bad by the way.
I’m much more concerned about the likes of Calum Clark type incidents where a player has deliberately gone out to injure and remove a guy from the game.

As others have said big yim I’m broken hearted for you. We went through a couple of miscarriages but at a much earlier stage and it just blindsides you as you start making plans for the future. The world may seem a very dark place now but hopefully with the love you both have for each other and through family and friends light can return very soon for you both.

We have an ESSE stove which has been faultless since it was installed – they do a few nice looking double door ones.

A couple of questions fir those with a stove – is the room in which your stove is vented? If so where in relation to the stove is the vent?
I have a load of engineered oak flooring which had to come up due to a burst heating pipe – I was thinking of chopping into kindling – is there anything that should stop from burning this in the stove?

Aye green light is on and unfortunately I am the owner of the house. Looking at instructions there could be a problem with the chamber and to hoover it out so asked them to try that. If the chamber was a problem on one of them would all the alarms that are radio connected beep?

Manual says it has built in lithium rechargeable cells with up to 30 days back up so not sure if it could be that?

There’s a clas Barnardos kids toys store in Glasgow which I am sure would take the toys if they are in good nick – you could check if there is a similar store in your area. Or how about local doctors surgery waiting rooms?

Happened on my much older Audi. Check to see if the headlight unit itself is locked into position properly as what was happening on mine was excess vibration causing headlight bulbs to go.

Watching the 2006 European cup final between Munster and Biaritz on Sky Sports 5 – the game seems to be faster paced than it is now and the scrums are a joy to watch-2 big packs standing 2 yards from each other and launching into the hit.

I always liked a pint in The Long Stone – you could check their Facebook page to see if there’s music playing.

If the weather is good Connacht versus Ulster should be a good game as well as the other Irish Derby.

    Great work Weeksy!!

Question re the portion sizes – what’s the acceptable muesli portion? Is it 1/2 cup like porridge?

I would assume it depends on what exercises you have been doing…if youve just been hammering the cardio and building no muscle mass then that might be why your body fat percentage hasn’t dropped in line with the weight loss.*

    *non-qualified guesswork going on :-)

I had a new kitchen put in a few years ago and had the units built higher than standard, they are 95cm high now including the worktop – as far as i can remember the cupboard space is the same and the plinth was just a bit higher. Great for food prep etc…

There was a good podcast from Off The Ball on Newstalk in Ireland a couple of weeks ago. One person was advocating that Semenya should be taking a testosterone controlling drug to bring her testosterone level into a certain band. One of the argument was that if the same was applied to men’s sport where some men have a natural high level of testosterone.
Someone mentioned that athletes will try and have kids 2 years out from a major championship as there is a natural boost to hormone levels which can aid their performance??

My daughter is nearly 2 and I’ve used this one since she finished in a maxi cosi

    http://www.mothercare.ie/britax-evolva-1-2-3-high-back-booster-car-seat-with-harness-black.html

It looks and feels very comfortable – harnesses are heady to use and the cover is wearing very well despite her smearing it in raisins and rice cakes on a daily basis.

I did a block construction garage @ 8.2m long X 4.8m wide with an apex roof height of 4.3m. All in it cost around €15k. If you look bCk on my post history there’s some photos there somewhere.

Given I replaced the immersion elements in Feb 2015 I questioned the maintenance companies call to replace the full immersion unit and tried to see if they could replace the thermostat only and this is the response I got: (of course the elements were only covered for 12 months labour and warranty)

“Thermostats in immersion heaters can be changed separately but this puts them at high risk and we do not recommend due to their constant use. Changing thermostat only, prolongs the inevitable.”

    Is this bull?

Alanl – it’s a rented house so I’m not there but from what I know the thermostat was adjusted and left on long enough for it to take effect. I think the immersion works on a timer but I can double check. Looking back at the records the elements were only replaced in February of 2015 so surely the thermostat can be replaced separately.

I’ve just got 3 pairs of GAP straight fit chinos for work and they are ideal and I’ve fairly large thighs. I’ve used Uniqlo chinos in the past and they’ve been good although a wee bit neater than the GAP ones.

Worth remembering that since 2004 The R&A and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews have been separate entities.

And The Open – when’s the last time you saw a woman teeing off with the men?

I think I’m right in saying that The Open Championship is open to both male and female whereas the Ladies Open Championship is not open to men.

In a way i feel sorry for the 60+% members who were in favour of women joining who are now being called dinosaurs etc yet wanted the club to take the forward step…saying muirfield is a golf club is pushing it a bit, it’s a lunch club with the (in)convenience of a golf course attached.

If you can be arsed you could contact http://www.standrewsgolfco.com and see if any of the hickory shafted ones are worth a decent amount. I did this last summer and the clubs that weren’t rare etc I got £20 each for. Or they could maybe recommend a local option.
