Thanks for the advice folks. In terms of video editing it is only short iPhone and camcorder family videos – not what I’d term full on film editing stuff. Here is the link to the ad:

The one that I’m interested in only has 4gb ram, will it make a huge amount of difference? It’s only for photo & video editing/storage and day to day email and excel/word stuff.

OP, out of interest what were the previous knee surgeries?
People are having knee replacements earlier on, partial knee replacements are proving quite popular too and the results coming in from an oxford uni study into their effectiveness are very promising. A lot of people I know say they regret not having a knee replacement earlier on in life.
There’s also new technology coming along to help regrow cartilage but that may still be 10 years off from coming to market.
You are doing the right thing by staying active in the meantime. Are you using painkillers during the gym sessions?

I had the first 2 operations in Glasgow and the 3rd in Bristol (Jonathan Webb). I’m based in Ireland now and have been to Santry Sports Clinic. More recently I had a benign tumour removed from my good knee.

I have never liked or had any need to take any painkillers following gym sessions as I’m not doing anything which aggravates it. I do however take anti-inflammatories before and after golf or hillwalking.

Thanks Shermer. The ability to rehab it properly whilst young is a big plus for me to go ahead with it. My main sport is golf and the kids are just getting on to 2 wheels so would love to get them out onto some trail centres Not sure if it makes a difference but I’m a tall man at 6’5” and roughly 105kg & I am probably leaner and fitter than I’ve ever been due to 3 gym sessions a week and watching what I eat/drink.
I your experience what are the improvements in range of movement in post TKR patients? My range of movement is very restricted and only getting worse.

I don’t have a neat edge to begin with as it weaves in and out of the rocks and bed. I’ll just ditch the edging with blocks/plastic idea, cut an edge and get some edge shears. Cheers!

@Roter Stern where did you get those?

What do you want to gain?
A neat edge? Separation from gravel? Something to run the mower along?

A neat straight edge which separates a flower bed from the lawn. We have a line of large rocks which create a wall, then a shallow bed then a lawn.

I’ve replaced two wiper motors on on Audi A4 estates for the same reason. I think the motor eats itself as the electric housing is in the same body as the water pipe so maybe a leak causes it. In any case I sourced my motor from here http://www.ws-autoteile.com and replaced it myself. You’ll need a wiper arm removal tool and plenty of WD40 as no doubt it’ll be stuck on.

TJ I agree we aren’t going to get across the gain line with Josh Strauss doing the bulk of the ball carrying as he goes into contact too high. The Irish will choke tackle him all day long.

P-jay I had thought of a shift to android but all my family is on iphones and given I live ‘abroad’ it makes more sense from a messaging, photo sharing, facetime point of view.

Blader unfortunately the budget won’t stretch to a 7 on my price plan.

Drlex the 6 is definitely the option not the 6S unfortunately.

They can be up to 45m long. There is diaphragms at approx 2m centres.  We want to move away from heat.  I’d rather not go into further detail to be honest.

How much do you need to move the steel by? Do you need to just ‘spring’ it into position for tacking, or actually cause a permanent bend?

Not much – can be as little as 2mm to 10mm and it is just to spring it into position to tack weld top and bottom.

So you want to flatten the vertical green plate before welding it up into the box section?

    Yes

How big a magnet? We have had some success with a chuck magnet but this is too large and heavy. Looking at maybe 300mm x 200mm dimension wise.

Suspect it will just spring back a little even after welding up into the box section. How long is it?

Up to 40m long – getting it to hold after tacking isnt an issue as the tacks can be enlarged and brought closer together.

    Thansk for the help!

Plates are distorted following welding steel angle stiffeners on back – rollers are not an option.

Can recommend Kilmahon House as a posh B&B in Shanagarry, East Cork. Excellent welcome, afternoon tea, breakfast is class.

You can stay in the light house at Loop Head, County Clare.

Parknasilla Hotel in Sneem, County Kerry is pretty good too.

Derrynane Beach in south Kerry is magic apparently.

Dingle is cool but will be heaving with tourists and is pretty €€€.  Nice pubs though and generally good music.

If if you want to stay away from touristy places then stay away from Killarney town but the national park around it is pretty damn nice

What kind of stuff are you guys into?

I got some G3 CLOP Steel roof bars from http://www.micksgarage.com which were compatible with the t-track fittings on my Atera Giro bike rack. Atera is another brand which would be compatible.

Galvanised steel core plastic all weather. Didn’t go for rope as it’s so damp here I thought it would go green during wet periods

Thanks again for the help, much appreciated.  Got a car sorted through Arnold Clark – like others I am very wary of easirent etc having been stung a few years back for not owning a credit card.  I’ve looked into excess policy and €49 seems good for 1 year through http://www.aig.ie.

Got an intern or work experience kid in?

As usual questions about the questions…

Why do you want to know? Is it interference or things controlling the wrong bit of kit? If it’s a safety thing I’d want a very robust test and a process to deal with any issues before starting!!

My first pass would be to get the instructions/specs for each bit of kit and get it from there.

Yeah we have summer students starting soon enough so it’s on the list of work for them to carry out.  Its an interference thing.

It’s grim. JJ Williams was on the radio the other night and he said something along the lines of ‘the fact that Scotland remain competitive given 2 professional teams is surprising’ – I can’t disagree to be honest. These injuries are killing us, seemingly more so than the other countries.
I think France will beat us at the weekend – if they don’t they are a bigger shambles.
