Is this place to ask questions about turbo trainers given the thread title? Looking to dip my toe in the water due to restrictions etc. and completely clueless…been offered a Tacx Blue Matic basic model for €159. I would see about adding the tacx speed and cadence sensor to try and get it to work with apps etc in the future but right now it would be for HIIT and training in the garage. There isnt much stock of anything else to be honest. Any help much appreciated!

Thanks folks it’s on the Covid jobs to do list. If I was to sand the whole table back and treat it with an oil what would people recommend.

Same here re the wetness – bannetonA are good and baking inside a casserole pot makes a difference too.

@sadexpunk yeah I’ve tried it a good few times and it’s nice but I found it heavy going on the digestion compared to normal or sourdough loaves. You can make some nice variations of soda bread too…

How crucial is room temperature when getting the starter going? I’ve read it should be between 70 and 75 F which is warmer than any of the rooms in our house (Scotland, obviously!). I’ve measured the temperature at the top of the fridge and it isn’t warm enough there either.

And does it matter if the temperature dips overnight? MrsKenny is understandably reluctant to have the heating on 24 hours a day no matter how delicious I claim the pizzas will be.

    @kennyp
if it’s colder the starter will just take longer to get going I imagine and same applies when proving bread etc. You could offset the temp initially by adding slightly warmer water. If you’ve a got water tank you could use that room.

From what I’ve read/watched refined sugar is too complex for yeast to feed off – it’s only used for colour and flavour.

I do shape it then prove them overnight in the fridge in 1 round banneton and a mixing bowl which has steeper sides. then turn out on to grease proof paper, slash and place in the heated casserole dish or baking stone. I’ll try and post pictures if possible to show the comparison.

Aye, I agree. I followed a recipe to the letter for the first loaf and didn’t like the results – now follow a rough sequence from a few recipes and the results seem better and as I get more confident I’ll vary the flours and hydration levels. Things I need to work on are my shaping although baking inside a casserole pot makes a difference.

@nobeerinthefridge the easiest recipe I’ve followed comes from here except I do a stretch and fold every 30 minutes for the first 2.5 hours.

@nobeerinthefridge – you can also go down the route of the scrapings method which saves you from throwing out perfectly good starter and adding 100g flour per day.

Also check out firehouse bakery Instagram feed who were doing recipes with discarded starter.

If you’ve got hula hoops you can hula, or use them to setup an obstacle type course of hopping from one to another. Chalks and hopscotch. Kicking or throwing a ball to one another or her favourite cuddly toy. Get her a waa umbrella and turn the tap on have her run around while you spray water in the air trying to hit her. Travel rug and forward rolls. Long plank of wood as a balance beam.

Personal experience of the testing over in Ireland is a joke. Wife works in healthcare and first showed symptoms a week past on fri and waited 8 days for a test and still no results yet ‘famous’ people get symptoms, get tested rapidly and the results quickly too. The numbers being stated on the news as confirmed cases mean nothing – it’s only the ICU numbers that matter.

Anyone know of a non-mainstream cycling type shop that would stock children’s scooters. Don’t particularly want to use a big store and would rather support a small independent shop that sells online and does delivery to Ireland for reasonable rate. Thanks

First couple loaves made-crumb was a wee bit tight but good crust and made lovely toast. Going to change recipes and be a lot more patient this time. Notice from other threads that the yeast and flour shortage is hitting, I managed to get a bulk preset of flour from a mill here in Ireland so maybe that’s a route folk could go through in UK. Any body else started their starter?

Step one in that video should have been to remove and throw away that expanding plastic piping and replace with metal non-expanding ducting. With insulation sleeve around it. Will increase efficacy of the fan,

Can you recommend a make or online retailer for the ducting you’re Can you share a vent tile between 2 extractors? Or will this potentially take the steam from one bathroom and shove it into another?

I have two of those and had to remove the blades that make up the closing mechanism as they wouldn’t open anymore. This it was due condensation as they are mounted on the ceiling as oppose to an outside wall.

Anyone know if I should fit a condensation trap on the ventilation pipe in the attic space?

I don’t follow any online plans but do intervals on a Concept 2 3 times a week and vary it between
    20 reps x 20secs on 20secs off
    20secs/10secs x 8 reps x 2-3 sets
    30secs/20secs x 8-10 reps x 2 sets
    1000m – 1 or 2 min rest…750m – same rest…500m – same rest…250m – same rest…750m – dead!
Don’t use a heart rate monitor.

OK, so you want to select a component and enter its target ship date, then have a table filled in with all of the relevant process dates with each process colour coded? Do all components have the same processes?

Yes – the components do have all the same processes but with different times for each process.

Will you be doing this for one component at a time or do you want to be able to have a list of components with all of the dates for each one?

I’d prefer to have a list of components with dates for each.

Then you want to be able to amend the actual date of a process then have all the other dates update based on that, but without affecting the final delivery date?

    Yes.

    Thanks.

@mrsheen Yes it probably would but I would imagine excel could easily create what I’m looking for but my knowledge doesn’t move much beyond standard if statements and basic pivot tables.

Yes – I have a table with components and process times and want to populate a chart with the appropriate dates.

What I should have said that the ship date should be highlighted yellow, test dates green, assembly dates blue, paint dates purple.

Had a Panasonic SD255 for years and up until recently was using it 3-4 times a week. The pan and paddle need to be replaced having lost the Teflon type coating which is almost as expensive as buying a new machine. The paddle can be an issue with it tearing a hole in the bottom of the loaf if and when it gets stuck which is a pain. I’ve started making bread by hand rather than replacing the bits.

If he wants to be mentioned in the same breath as the greats like Carter and Sexton

    🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Sexton is not a great. Very good player, best British 10 since Henson 😉 I mean Wilkinson in his pomp but not a great imo.

I’m going to bite…Sexton is not British!
