East coast wise you could look at places like Elie/Kilconquhar/St. Monans/Crail/Anstruther/Pittenweem/St. Andrews. Lots to do with kids as there water sports centre in Elie, good beaches, tennis courts, golf etc. Wet weather plans sea life centre in St. Andrews, swimming baths, strawberry picking (outdoor/indoor poly tunnel type). If you need more info let me know.

My memories of Lochgoilhead on a calm summers evening are of black clouds of midges and tonnes of folk hovering round either my Uncle Jimmy’s cigar or practically hugging the barbecue.

East coast tends to have less of them. Fife is a great spot for holidays in Summer with plenty for kids to do and there is some good riding around the place too.

Glencoe could be worth a shout as could Lochgoilhead. Plenty of riding near both I’d imagine not sure about accommodation or stuff for kids but I’m sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along shortly. Oh yeah, midgies will no doubt be brutal!

My sister has got a NEFF induction hob and having used it myself I think it’s class. The temp changes are instant, it still looks like new, is easy to clean and looks really sleek.

so the checking of size and weight of the bag is once you’re on the plane? Wasn’t like that last time I flew (which was with RyanAir). The bags were checked before you went through the gate. There was no checking once you were through the gate. Has this changed?

At Glasgow Prestwick they check after the security check on the way to the plane. At Dublin they didn’t check at the gate.

As an aside on a recent Dublin to Prestwick flight the flight was delayed by 20 odd mins then the first officer did his preflight safety walk round and went atse over tit putting a gash in his head. Cue flashing lights for the paramedics and another 40 minute delay to find a replacement first officer!

Guy I sit next to at work has just got a Hiace cab van. Rear is decked out in plywood and seems pretty good space wise. He was talking about reselling as non-commercial tax on it is huge (in Ireland by the way). Think he was talking about €6000 odd for it. Low mileage too…if you’re interested let me know and I can send pics and details. Not sure what it would cost to clear it in the uk?

WCA that programme I just sent should be good (I think) for fat burning as its low weight, high reps.

I’ve got a great shoulder complex weight training programme provided by a previous Bristol RFC fitness and conditioning coach which should be ok to complete sitting down. The good thing is the weights used are small 4-7kg. I found it great for posture and core. Let me know if you want a copy and I can send it on, it’s an excel file.

Dropped around 9lbs to 17 stone dead and body fat to just above 25%. Going to the gym 4-5 days a week and only major changes to diet is less bread and cheese is a weekend treat. Lightest I’ve been for probably around 14 years!

I found out from my biomechanist last night that engaging my core isn’t the same as trying to do things while holding it tense and locked.
everything feels so much easier now.

I had a fact sheet which recommended a drag factor of 125-140 which equates to 5-7 on the rowers in our gym. Used to be a 10 setting man until about 4 weeks ago when I started the drag factor business, I noticed a big difference straight away and the 20 second intervals are grim with 10 seconds rest.

I was doing 30:30Rest intervals and 8 interval took me to just over 2000m. Now doing 3 sets of 8 20:10Rest intervals and getting to around 3500m and I’m absolutely shafted at that. Not sure if these figures are any good!? Both of those setting drag factor at 125 thanks to some advice previously on here.
