Don’t suppose you can just put the sources in the room and re-run the satellite cable? You’ve got cat5 for any networking you need, and that way all the complications of running video & IR signals a long distance are solved.

I could but didn’t want to as we would prefer not to have any cables etc showing hence the reason the cat5s, coax, etc are buried in the wall.

Basically Looking to see if this cat5 to hdmi converter is what I need at both the source end (sky box) and tv end…

Cat5 already installed in the wall – just looking for a definitive product that will take a signal from Sky box to TV and a DVD player to tv – It’s not multiple locations it’s just one tv in one room.

HDMI cable doesn’t like long runs (so I’ve been told) so you run cat5 then use the converter boxes.

The cat 5 carries the HD picture and a standard co-ax runs the remote/magic eye.

Is there a similar product that will do two devices (Sky & DVD) in one?

supremebean – that’s soul destroying to hear – that thing broke my heart over the weekend. I followed the instruction but assumed the plugs supplied (green 6mm) or even standard red plugs would not be suitable for hollow walls??

Matt – It’s a stud wall between the hall and the bathroom.

Having already drilled the tiles and wall with 11mm hole for these toggle clamps and the fact that it’s up I’ll leave it but should it need to be redone I’ll use the Fischer plugs. Or would you remove the spring toggle plugs and replace? I’d have to redrill the panels metal fixing tray unless the Fischer fixings come in 10mm diameter…

My 2003 1.9 TDI has done 140k and the only issues I’ve had are the front and rear windscreen wiper motors going which were replaced myself, the actuator for AC to the windscreen went but i just removed it and left it open full time and the battery was replaced last week. Aside from that just a standard service every 6 months or so and the necessary cam belt changes at 80k and 125k.

Slight hijack but I’m looking for some decent good value wall speakers (white in colour) for the house. Was looking at Audica Micropoint as a mate has them…anyone got any other recommendations.

qwerty check with local stainless steel fabrication shop – they might be able to bend & drill flat plate for you.

Shouldnt be a problem I’d imagine. Check the spec out in the instructions or contact the supplier but I’ve recently installed had an extractor fitted and the run from the inlet to the outlet is around 2.5m and nothing was mentioned to me. What make and model is it?

Butterfly them and fry and serve with different dips or sauces – kids could go with lemon type mayo maybe and adults sweet chilli or just make a batch of Thai green curry sauce and add to the adults portions?

It won’t be being fed from hot supply just cold tank or mains depending on shower cost. I’ll check with the electrician what rating the cable is at.

Good advice b r cheers! I’m 6’5″ so a pet hate of most showers is the head being at chest height!

I’ll have a look at the power showers but to be honest I’m not shower on the difference between mains and power and bog standard? Another pet hate is the pump screeching while you try and have a shower!

The fried chicken thing (specific to Tiger) relates to comments made by a guy (comically) called Fuzzy Zeoller who, upon Tiger wining first Masters, commented that he’d better not serve fried chicken and greens at the champions dinner the next year…

The plan is to fit engineered timber floors – would it be OK to contact you via email DD as I’ll probably have a few questions in the coming days regarding this?

Deadly – in a previous thread I asked about the checking of moisture levels on a concrete floor – I haven’t checked but assuming I do what figure or reading would mean I would not have to use liquid DPM? It’s a new build house that has been unoccupied for ~2-3 years?

I’ve a similar problem on solid wood stairs which have not been treated with oil or varnish. Is there a similar product for this or do I use meths or turps?
