I bought my Land Cruiser over from Greece in 2008. The process is very straightforward and the DVLA are very helpful.

Because the car was first purchased in the EU, its much easier than it would be for, say, an American car.

CoC, change the speedo, headlights and rear fog lights (you’ll need proof of this, but a receipt for the parts was sufficient as I did some of the work myself).

Paperwork to DVLA job pretty much done.

Speak to DVLA for exact, up to date details.

    Go round Bewl water?

Good suggestion…. But it’s about the only thing in that area, other than Bedgebury, that I have done before! Looking for something different!

Bewl and Bedgebury makes for a good double btw, they’re quite close together.

Sea Kayak Kefalonia are very good.

We spent a few days with them a few years ago.

They’re very good and the scenery is pretty spectacular.

I’m very pleased with my Outback. Spacious, comfortable, excellent load lugger… Does all I wanted.

Also, as it’s the 2l diesel fuel consumption is a bit more sensible than the petrol versions. Quoted combined is 44.1 mpg, for my driving, which doesn’t include many short journeys, I get at least that on most tanks.

One of the major selling points for me over the competition was interior space, especially rear seat leg room as most of my friends and family are tall. I’m 6’2 and with the drivers seat all the way back I can sit comfortably in the rear.

You just have to get your head round lots of short steep climbs and descents in a ride instead of a few longer ones!

Where are you? I’ve got a phone & Sim for the US that I bought earlier this year. It’s a basic smart phone on a PAYG package that includes unlimited data, inclusive texts and calls. Bought together in the US so no compatability issues.

It’s just sitting around gathering dust, so I’m happy to lend it out. Just needs topping up on arrival.

I’ve been to Vegas twice – first time we saw Blue Man group, second time we saw Rock of Ages.

Both were excellent, thoroughly recommend either.

I’m surprised Cirque is not on, you know it’s on in more than one casino? Saw a bit of it on the tv in the hotel room and wasn’t that bothered, though…

It may be repairable – a decent tyre shop should be able to help and costs <£15.

I was really impressed with the Dodge. Smooth ride, but not too soggy, very comfortable & all the toys, plus goes like stink…

With the Adrenaline Collection you get your exact choice of car, not just one from that group.

The Challenger is a bit bigger than the Camaro or Mustang.

Only really good for 2,btw,rear legroom is minimal, especially if you have the seat all the way back.

And, yes I do have photos of me & the other half getting in through the windows Duke boys style 😉

Have a look at the Hertz “Adrenaline collection”.

11 days cost me about £650 for a Dodge Challenger R/T, 5.7, V8, 372bhp modern muscle car! Loved it!

There’s also a Mustang GT or Camaro SS in the same price bracket & a Corvette for a bit more…

Use a damp cloth (or your sweaty shirt) to wipe of the bit of frame where the clamp sits?

Works for me when I’m feeling a bit precious about my bikes (not often)!

    Ultimately you’re overtaking.

“only overtake on the left if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right, and there is room to do so”

    From here: https://www.gov.uk/using-the-road-159-to-203/overtaking-162-to-169

Cycle lanes / specialist markings aside, you’re a vehicle like any other and the same rules apply…

I know that some carriers can allow 2 hold bags. Get your your luggage in one suitcase, and your bike goes in as the second bag.

Having spent about £120 on a new racquet, then gone back to my old one…

It’s worth getting a new racquet restrung almost immediately by someone who has a bit of an idea what they’re doing. It makes a huge difference.

Your local club probably has “a bloke”. Costs less than £15!

Don’t know the specifics of the Fargo frame, but from the Rohloff site:

    Smallest permittable sprocket ratios

The sprocket ratio on the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 (e.g. 42/16) converts the slow rotational speed at the crank into a fast rotational speed at the sprocket and reduces the input torque for the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 in the same proportion. To prevent overstraining the hub, a minimum sprocket ratio of 2.35 must be used. With the available sprockets these minimum ratios are achieved by: 40/17, 38/16, 36/15 and 32/13. This resembles a derailleur transmission of 22/34. Larger chainrings can be used without exceptions.

More likely it’s skipping on the granny ring – if the middle / cassette & chain needed replacing the granny ring probably also needs replacement as it all wears as a set.

    Try a new granny ring!

I’ve always been very impressed with the longevity of Humvees, with the exception of one pair that wore out in a couple of months. I’d bought them at Skyline on a trip to Wales, sent them back with a friendly letter, they sent them to Endura and a few weeks later I had a new pair of shorts – so it’s worth trying your retailer!

I actually have one for sale. Custom built for me in 2005, will easily hold 8 bikes, plus gear. It is also vented, with interior lights and power to use for sleeping in.

I have Skype installed, but only use it by prior appointment!

It canes the battery if you leave it running just in case someone wants to contact you.

It does work very well, though, both for messaging and voice/video.

    Not tried any alternatives.

    What age?

I bought a new Outback 2l Diesel (basically the same as the Legacy) in January. One of the main reasons I went for diesel was the mpg.

2.5 is 33.6mpg combined – not too spectacular compared to the competition. The diesel gives 44.1, again not too spectacular, but above my requirement for 40+ mpg.

The car been awesome, though. Spacious, comfortable and very reliable. Subaru service has also been excellent and the handling was very good in the snow at the beginning of the year. Bear in mind that I live on a farm at the bottom of a farm track….

I’ve done over 10,000 miles so far, including a run to The Alps and Scotland.

    Go for it!

    Some info here: http://www.parkers.co.uk/vans/reviews/mercedes-benz/sprinter/1995/technical-data/

GVW most likely to be 3500kg, although not guaranteed. Payload will depend on what sort of body you’re talking about, anything other that panel van and there won’t be any official figures, you’ll just have to take it to a weighbridge.

Make sure you have a full compliment of springs and pawls before reassembling…

It’s all held together by the seal in the end cap, so if the seal is worn it will fall off, properly installed or not!

Time allow you to change the release angle by having assymetric cleats – cleat “a” on the left & “b” on the right gives you one release angle, “a” to the right & “b” to the left the other.

The screw adjustment alters retention force.
