The AlpX is slim fit and the Phantom comfort fit

    True, but I found:

My XXL Phantom is a perfect fit.

The XXL Alp-X softshell I had was baggy round the waist band & definitely felt bigger all over.

I find Gore sizing a bit funny.

Unless that item is no longer available, they can’t magic up something that doesn’t exist !

This is why I asked this first:

Have Marzocchi stopped making a 150mm fork?

    alandavidpetrie79

so does that mean that the alp-x sizes up smaller or larger than the Phantom ?

    Larger.

Surely a warranty replacement should be the same?

Was 140mm ones an option? – might be better going slightly shorter rather than longer travel?

I also have a Phantom 2 for commuting! – it’s even the same colour as yours :)

I have an Alp-X 2.0 AS Gore-Tex for the wet rides & love it.

I also had an Alp-X 2.0 Softshell & although I loved it too, I was between sizes (XL slightly too small, XXL too big)

    Reluctantly sold them both.

Now gone back to a Cosmo Windstopper softshell – in Camo! (Again…..)

Evans are currently doing the Alp-X 2.0 Softshell for £99.99!

    Looks nice that.

I had similar comments when I posted pics of my XXL Roubaix.

I thought about getting a L, so it looked better in pics, but couldn’t justify the Chiropractor bills….. ;)

    Ah man! – I’m drooling!!!

Sorry op, I’ve no positive experiences to tell you about.

But, in a couple of weeks I hope I do…..

I’m waiting on my 2Souls QH frame to arrive.

I’m building it with 140 Pikes.

I’m hoping it will satisfy my needs and reignite my passion for mtbing I’m ashamed to say was fading slightly.

Roll on the end of the month :)

Get in touch with an accident claims company ASAP.

    Do not sign anything.

I got hit side on from a motorist who claimed he didn’t see me.

Mind you, I was injured (2 broken metatarsals) & bike / equipment damaged.

I got a very substantial payout that I was very happy with.

I wonder what is in that big box strapped to the bike?

I reckon this hit his van when he overtook him…..

The Pikes I bought from Evans on 23.12.14 were not due in stock til 07.01.15.

    They turned up on 24.12.14!

    Don’t loose faith…..

I bought a bike that turned out to be stolen. I had to give it up, and I lost the money that I paid for it. eBay and Paypal could not give 2 shites about my losses.

    I cannot believe this!!!

    Shocking.

    Im a user of Gore Windstopper softshells (Gore Alp-X 2.0 & a Phantom 2) & a Gore Active Shell Gore-Tex (Gore Alp-X 2.0)

Both excellent at stopping wind penetration, as you would expect.

I do however find the Softshell more breathable and reach for one of them before the Active Shell, unless I know it’s going to rain.

I find a HH Freeze baselayer & a softshell perfect when it’s sub zero.

    + 1 for Pikes.

I’ve only just got mine & not actually built the bike up as I’m waiting on my frame.

But looks wise, they are very nice indeed! :)

    Cheapest I found:

Just need to decide on a 46 or 51mm offset……

    Aldi winter gloves.

    Best £5 I’ve spent.

Looks aside, I cannot fault them.

Will your frame not come with the right axle?

Yes, but it’s the ‘female’ bit of the actual hub I’m needing

    alandavidpetrie79
    Free Member

It’s definitely an Evo I have.

When I removed my 10mm bolt – in axle it left a big hole.

I now have the X12 ends, but they both have o rings on them, so must seal onto something? – an axle would be the obvious thing, but can’t seem to find what I need online….. :(

Really looking forward to getting my frame (end of January)

Pikes arrived on Christmas Eve & look sad sat in their box.

If it is 135mm spacing, then yes 29er MTB wheels will fit.

I run Pro 2 Evo / Stans Arch EX on my Kona Jake the Snake with 32c SB8’s.

You are correct in what you say re the leather wrap, think I will stick with that, cheers.

    tricky dicky:

I’m dealing with Marc Donath, but have also exchanged a few emails with Reinhard Allwicher.

They have been good at getting back to my emails so far.

Are you like me & going to purchase or having an issue with a frame (if you don’t mind me asking)
