Not sure on the size guide.

I use XL, but tried my original pair in my lbs.

    True.

The way it rides fits nicely between the SC Nomad i had and the Solaris – Best of both worlds!

Can’t wait to ride it at Glentress for speed & Laggan for the Gnarr!

    Hi Darren,

    I love the Kona!

    It’s super comfortable.

TBH it’s mainly used for commuting to work.

Other than that, it’s been on a few 30 – 40 mile jonts, with a mixture of cycle path & forest trail.

    It just feels right.

Looking forward to trying a CX race on it this year…..

    Where’s the review Alan?

    Sorry for the delay….

    The bike is awesome!

It’s definitely no light weight – 30 lbs to be precise 8O but……

I can’t say I really noticed the extra 3 lbs over the Solaris on the way up, it really feels stable & planted on the way down, which is nice.

Even though the frame is very chunky compared to the Solaris, i still felt a bit of ‘springyness’ in the back end.

When I cut the fork steerer, I left enough for 20mm above & 20mm below the stem.

Ever after the one ride on Saturday I feel the front a bit high, so gonna reduce it to 10mm below, see how it goes.

Due to the extra weight, I’ve decided to run a Hope T-Rex, which should be up & running for a trip to Glentress on the 21st – can’t wait for a bit of speed on the way down!

    What is that bike alandavidpetrie79?

Yes, as mentioned it is indeed a 2Souls Quarterhorse.

Nice looking bike Alan, indeed the same size as you – in fact it’s your old giant frame that I’m currently commuting on I believe.

Cheers. Ah! – My trusty old Giant Seek – How is it going?

Mmm, some places list 32, 34, 36 etc:

Where as others like CRC list M, L, XL etc.

    Now I’m confused…..

    OP.
You been out on it yet?

Nope :( – well about 200 yards to adjust gear cable tension.

The Mrs has not been well, so I’ve been on father duties all weekend….. – how selfish falling ill when I’m itching to get out on the bike!!!

Heading to Comrie Croft on Saturday for its maiden voyage, unless I can sneek out mid week

    Thanks all!

Really looking forward to its maiden voyage on Saturday…..

As much as I’d love to hit GT, I think due to the weather it might need to be Comrie Croft – still have a blast none the less.

A Question for singlespeedstu & or Scienceofficer:

re. the back end, I have the dropouts in their front most position, so the wheelbase is at its minimum.

Do I now just nip up the two smaller diameter bolts to keep it in place?

    Regards,

    Alan.

Oh god, they’re almost common now!

    Hope not…..

    Did you weigh the frame.

    No.

I kinda wish I had though. In saying that, I never bought it to build a light bike, so not really bothered, it would just be nice to know.

Its nice, except for the crazy slack seat angle. Any reason for it?

To cram in the gigantic wheel? – thus keeping a short wheel base?

Dunno really, but it sounds good…..

Ah man – want one of those keyrings! :)

I did get a free BB for the delay mind you….

Is that a miniscule Hope hub keyring? :D

If it rides as good as it looks (IMO) :) I should be in for a real treat….

Who really spins out 32 11? I struggle to believe anyone is doing it on a regular basis.

    My thoughts exactly.

I ran 34 with 11-36 on my Solaris & never felt I needed more gears.

I now have a 32T chainring, but that’s only because my new build is heavier…..

Love that I think you got the last one in the ceramic coating according to Marcus

Thanks. Well, I thought I did at first when I ordered it on 22nd December, but they got back in touch to say it was a Slim Jim they had in XL, not a QH….

So I asked for it to be powder coated in the nearest colour to Ceramic.

I did have the choice of any colour I liked, but it was that grey with the leather wrap on the downtube that got me lusting for one a while back.

    +1 for the TLD A1.

I just got one this week & have not worn it on the bike.

One thing I will say is that I was blown away when I stuck it on me napper – seriously comfortable & plush padded liner!

Check our JE James for the best price (that I found)

Got a nice orange one for £75, the Matte Grey & Matte Red were available in all sizes for £65!!!

    I’ve removed & re – fitted mine.

I had no idea it was a one use only….

I’ve removed & re – fitted my 10 speed ones a few times, so assumed the 11 speed was the same.

Interesting on the Bike Radar link that someone fitted a 10 speed link to an 11 speed chain……
