2014 Trek Remedy 29er:

I run a 2.2 Protection MK 2 on the rear & a 2.35 Hans Dampf on the front.

I find the combination excellent

The MK 2 is definitely faster than the RQ that I used to run F & R.

Huge difference in the physical width – the MK 2 comes up narrow.

+ 1 for Specialized S3

It’s light, comfy, excellent cradle & strap system & imo looks good on :-)

You can safely ignore that advice. Nothing gnarly about GT.

Duane – have you actually ridden GT? – We often ride it & most of it is so smooth a rigid would be fine.

It is a great trail tho – very fast & has plenty variety.

My 2.5 yr old is doing really well on his balance bike, bumping up & down kerbs, down steep slopes & actually happier taking the bumpier options.

What ratio are you running?

I built mine a couple of months ago.

Started with 40 / 16, soon changed to 40 / 12 as felt like I should be putting more effort in.

It is perfect for me, but im only 3.5 miles from work.

A 32T Rental SR4 chainring :-)

Im 6′ 3″ with a 34 / 35″ inside leg.

My lbs advised me to get a 58, but I went for a 61 & it fits perfectly & very comfortable.

It seems tinkering is just as addictive as MTB’s……

Now with Ultegra, Specialized carbon bars & Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels :lol:

When trying to decide between a L & a XL, I asked Cy’s advice as he is also 6′ 3″

He reckoned I should go for a L, but in the end i decided on an XL – Im glad I did – definitely wouldn’t want it any smaller!

I said that was the budget…… could probably push it a little, do like the look of the FS-260.
