I had issues with my square taper on my commuter.

The non-drive side crank arm bolt kept coming loose.

Tightened it loads until I got pi**ed off & removed it to inspect.

Turns out the ‘square’ part of the crank arm was far from square :-(

New Hollowtech 2 setup soon followed.

Definitely Mabie! :-) It has a nice flow to it & u can breeze 2 reds in 4 hrs.

Ae is a bit of a drag, but the last downhill ‘Omega Man’ is very good indeed!

    Enjoy.

Visit your local Specialized dealer, buy one of each & find out for yourself?

I heard they do a 28 day returns policy on most things, like helmets & saddles, sure it’s the same for tyres.

Solaris (seems tight for proper tires?)

I run a 2.3 High Roller 2 out back on mine & its fine.

Feels superb with 120mm Revs! :-)

Look ace, but sadly very sweaty :-(

I now use a hooded Gore Alp-X 2.0 which is excellent, also looks good on & off the bike.

    Go 1 x 9 / 10 / 11 & mount a RH lever upside down on the LH side.

    Job done.

Front mechs & shifters just get in the way……

    Where did you buy them?

Will they reimburse or bleed them for you?

I have them on my commuter / child transporter.

Left the hoses as they came out of the box.

No problems with mine so far….. touches wood.

Wow! – That boy on the vid is fast – or was it speeded up…..

Certainly won’t be going that quick.

Might stick to the red, wouldn’t mind bike & I in one piece at the end.

    Cheers all.

    Alan :-)

I run the RCT3 Solo air 29er’s on my Solaris.

They were 140, but i bought a cartridge to reduce a-c length & give me 120mm.

They are excellent, cannot fault them – super plush & stiff.

The 3 position knob works wonders, giving fully plush, half & nearly full lockout.

    Thanks uwe-r – ended up with a Ridgeback MX12.

He is happy running alongside it atm :-)

    Nice! :-)

    Surely it will grow back?

As a nipper I had terrible problems with in-grown toenails :-(

I had an op back in 1995 to remove mine, got em both done – one at a time.

Had the nail beds removed so they wouldn’t grow back.

It was freeking agony when the anesthetic wore off, couldn’t walk, had to keep it elevated for ages.

But look now – thing of beauty! ;-)

I think it looks worse in the pic than it actually is tbh.

Im gonna take it back on Monday & get them to lop a bit off the steerer.

But with this much seatppost exposed, stem inverted, and excess headset spacers, I really think the rider needs a bigger bike!

Before I bought it my lbs advised me that 58cm was the size for me….

what the heck is that growing on the pebble dash?

Certainly looks odd, strangely tastes of marmalade…….

    Loco:

does anyone know if the travel can be spaced down yet?

Yes I hope so, the parts lists are yet to be released so not 100%, no parts available yet but due soon.

    Good luck with that!

I bought 2013 RS Revelation RCT3 29er when they first came out – waited 9 months on a cartridge to reduce the travel from 140 – 120mm

    :-(

+1 for a remote – don’t need to let go with one hand when approaching a tricky bit……

If Team Sky mechanic built a bike for me I’d still check it before i pedalled off on it, it’s just common sense.

During the TDF when Froome changed bikes on a climb, he was out with allan keys & a pedal spanner.

Looked like a right kerfuffle, guess he was just using his common sense…..

    :-)

What sort of idiot wouldn’t check all that on a new bike before riding??

    Don’t know, just heard.

But, usually when I pay someone to do something I expect it to be done right.

When I had my brake pads changed on the car the other day, I never checked the wheels were on properly……

I have heard 2 horror stories of bikes built by them.

    Alledigedly:

Handlebars & stem came off steerer….

Front wheel came off when someone popped a wheelie….

    Both happened while riding!!!

When I got my first C2W bike a few years back, I asked for it in the box & did it myself.

If you have basic knowledge & some basic tools im sure you will manage.

    All the best,

    Alan.

Specialized Riva is flipping ace! :-)

Came fitted to my Roubaix, 3rd ride on it did 65 miles & hoop was aok.

Your local Specialized dealer should have a jig to measure your sit bones & get the perfect width.
