Good frame definitely when it comes to a hardtail
a quality frame should ride better, and maybe even finished better and therefore more durable. A better spec frame may have better cable routing, like fully enclosed internal etc which makes things a breeze.
You could buy a top spec bike with top end fox or rockshox, and have more dials to play with than you need, a drivetrain that in a blind test you wouldn’t tell the difference.
buy the bike around the frame you want, and over time you’ll work out anything you want to replace

you could use a few different options for the dropper..
there are over the bar lever options that might work with the lockout lever? or you could use one of the 2 lever setups that they use on certain XC bikes?

It’s a big day, past couple of times I’ve been, I’ve not managed to see everything in a day
there’s lots of walking, and if the weather is good it can be a sun trap
This is the fist year I’ve bought roaming stadium access, being able to sit in shade with a decent view with kids i think is pretty important.
there’s stuff going up and down the track every day, but we always do shootout Sunday, I’m local so a day trip is fine
but if its within budget, a weekend trip could be very cool
Food is bought this year was an absolute joke, 3 burgers, 2 chips, 3 cans.. £45 and it wasn’t even a quality burger, literally a dry bun with the cheapest patty ever, there may be better places to eat and we lucked out…

I had a moment the other week that could’ve been bad
i put it down to blindly pumping my tyres up to what my vague gauge said should be correct, not my accurate digital gauge, i had nothing gripwise. A couple of PSI difference probably not noticiable, potentially 5-10 might be a game changer

I feel as if I should’ve been already aware of Dualit toaster’s before this thread?
is it like those fancy vacuum cleaners with the headlight that the sales people would actually come into your house to demo?
    an urban folklore thing?

now if someone had mentioned Bagels…….
I’m assuming if the new model can do bagels it can do hot cross buns without involving the smoke alarm?

I’m pretty sure I’ve never spent more than £10 on a toaster
And I also don’t remember ever having to replace one apart from when it didn’t fit the decor
I have also never complained about the quality of the toast coming out of the toaster

    Don’t get me wrong, i’m a fan of toast…..

Ive been more than happy with yourmortgagepeople.co.uk through 2 mortgages

PM for a referral (think i have one)

For my renewal i got it in place 6 months ahead of time, then any time a better rate came up they automatically moved me over to it, up to the last minute

nipper went Orbea MX24 to Orbea MX 27.5, but then to a 26 full sus ebike, now 147 cm it’ll probably only do him another 18 months, but i guess he wont be too far off fitting my mediums by then, so I’m hoping i can work something out like that, certainly make bike storage easier ;p

Yep, conclusion.. IT and normals do not want to share the same space

However, this is a normal scenario… and getting used to it it will be fine

re walk ups and phone ups…..

I rarely answer the phone, If i do it better be critical, or my response is to log a ticket and we will get round to it

and yes, i will be using the office as and when, and i think the rest of the time i will probably sit with a headset on all day.

NickC the comments re ticketing system

    its literally essential

the alternative would be setting up a sperate calendar myself and boss have access to, and every time there was an issue , manually filling the info in, or copy paste, add all the customer fields the like the user, hardware identifiers etc etc, it would take longer to populate the calander than complete the job.

so what would happen? my inbox would then be a backlog of tickets, that needed processing even before i could start fixing the issue

So what id do instead is get my developer head on for a few months and come up with automating everything through Outlook, and create… a ticketing system, which  someone already has done to a higher standard and with far more functionality

remember, I’m keeping track of 350+ pcs/phones/laptops.. 250 odd users and all their issues, I’m not simply helping Jim in accounts total up an excel column

    A ticket system is essential

we used to not have one when we didn’t have a budget

people went without getting their issues sorted

Need to use a ticketing system, our current open jobs sits around 20, some longer, some shorter, but not projects generally as they are outside of that

Some jobs sit in there for weeks due to the nature of them, without a ticketing system those jobs would be forgotten and never completed

Its literally day 1, first visit to the building, but want to be prepped with any valid points

I think i can cope, i will have headphones on or use my boss’s office

yes, i sometimes have multiple laptops on my desk, sometimes physically open being repaired

odds and sods that i will need to learn to put in drawers but still

    disruption,

so i do jobs that can take 5 minutes, I also have jobs that I know I need x amount of time for, 2 hours, 2 days, weeks..

I pencil in the several hour jobs and ignore everything when i start on them, these are jobs that mistakes can be bad, again, I’m not just a support desk, I’m doing everything.

but the key thing is , i do not want people casually walking over to me, I’m thinking i will be sat with headphones on all day.

re the secrecy comment, yes, with full visibility on everything that happens in the business there is definitely an element of secrecy and confidentiality, including on phone calls, apart from my direct boss, I answer to 3 directors. I can be on peoples screens and they can have confidential info on screen. I can be on the phone to my boss OR as it is now, in open conversation about a situation that we do not want overheard as it’s an issue we are dealing with.

Also, i can be on Asda booking my shopping for collection

the junk area mentioned is another talking point, we can have boxes of new hardware  that we currently use one of our on site warehouses for, and we will essentially now have a bathroom sized room which is out of sight

I’m not sure there’s much strong argument, was hoping more along the lines of it literally breaking GDPR or something

yer my open teams requests get ignored, as do emails, I’m trying to train the company with rewards by ignoring their personal requests then instantly jumping on their requests when they use the official route

not being interrupted when i’m head deep in something by none critical stuff

the office i’m in has 2 desks close together, then my boss has half the space again with a glass partition, so the open plan is me, plus the student lad once every few weeks, music on loud, phone on DND
