I quite like mine, wasn’t fussed about weight and they work pretty well, same lowers as Lyriks but in use seem really solid and reliable.
If you want light then Wotans wouldn’t really be the best option.

Endura MT500s, cheaper than Gore and better, really waterproof and windproof and pretty sturdy as well, plus they are a snug fit cos they are stretchy material.

Few of my own hanging around but never bought anything, got a few friends who have bought some nice stuff, nothing expensive just things they like.

Tokyo is a fantastic city, only briefly been to a few other places so can’t really comment on them but I lurve Tokyo.
Really nice distinct areas, wander around neon lights and then old temples, you could happily spend weeks exploring.
The transport is gloriously efficient and the people are very friendly, eat everything you can as it’s all good, had some glorious food and overall can’t wait to go back.

Nike Air whistlers, very happy with them, nice balance of stiffness/stickiness, any of the Nike 6.0 ones are pretty good and you can get them pretty cheap at the mo.

Get the XT version and upgrade the shifters, XTR is lighter and does shift a little bit better but in terms of actual fun there’s nothing between them, go for XT and then upgrade a few things on the bike as an off the peg machine is never perfectly set up, what bike is it because sometimes the extra cost is worth it if there is an upgrade in wheels etc between the two models.

As long as they get the throw on the double tap levers right they should work pretty well, although it’s all gonna be so expensive I’m not really bothering looking that closely.

They will give the date the date the manufacturer has given them plus a few days for processing, but manufacturers can often not be that reliable, if in doubt give them a call closer to the time or send them an e-mail and they should just be able to phone up Charge to check the date for you.

Running Spesh All Condition Armadillos in 23c, lasted a lot of miles through London town and picked big old hunks of glass out of them with no actual punctures, not the worlds fastest tyre but barrel em up nice and hard and they’re fine.

Just tell her you think she should see other people……and only other people.
Might be dull and say honesty is the best policy although making something up may save her feelings, really depends on why it’s not working and how she feels.
It’s possible she’s on another internet forum asking people the very same question.
And this is a dreadful place to ask.

North congrats on getting the mtb bug, much fun ahead of you.
STW is a helpful site but some people will seem to know what you want more than you do, find a bike you like that feels right and buy it but do your research.
Sounds like the shop you went to was trying to upsell you, not uncommon but they were doing it with slightly odd advice, the FSR is a really good deal and currently you get 10% of Specialized accessories free when you buy a 2009 bike over £1000, worth bearing in mind.
If you can find a good 2008 bike in the right size I’d definitely snap it up as most companies have had to increase prices or downspec for 09.
From what you’re saying you seem to have the right idea, 120mmish full suspension from one of the big companies is a good choice.
But getting a bike that you like and is the right size is very important, shops are useful but some will push you into something you might not want and don’t pick up a bargain that’s the wrong size just because it’s good value.
As most people have said just get your leg over a few and you’ll find something you like.

Got mother in laws booked in for helping out and told friends to bring a meal if they are coming to visit, yeah planning to sleep but a bit wired at the moment, may end up bouncing off the walls.
No one ever really tells you how tiny they are, now I just need to figure out how soon I can get them on 2 wheels.

Taka you have confused me, I think I may be missing something…..
Very calm at the moment which is now worrying me, if you see what I mean, anyway I will ramble on here for ages but I’m up at six so better go, may post pics tomorrow depending on whether they let me take a bike into the hospital and sit the sprogs on it.

Give them ice skates, give them knives, put them on the ice and last man/woman standing wins.
    Much better show.

Ah well not to worry, probably not worth it by the time postage and stuff gets added and also having twins tomorrow so would be quite likely to forget or post them to the wrong place! ;-)

I have a pair of very lightly used ones of an Iron Horse Transit as I upgraded to some bling Halo ones, pain to post but if you’re London based you can have them for a reasonable amount.

Tandemjeremy has some good advice about the sitting on the table thing, means your feet are sitting in the most natural position.
Stiff shoes make a massive difference, going from flexy shoes up to carbon soled disc slippers is quite a revelation.
I run spds for commuting but flats for offroad.

Lots of carbon hardtails are full on race fiends so comfort not really the biggest concern, try a few if you can.
Carbon can be really stiff or really compliant depending on what the manufacturer does with it.
I will say the Commencal Skin looks good enough to eat though.

Sodafarts, if someone does an excellent job then they will get more money out of the bonus at the end of the month, good work is rewarded. Oh and thank you for the concern but pretty secure in my job at the moment.
Rudeboy, yeah I work in the CW branch and hopefully we are doing okay at the moment, always useful to hear feedback good or bad.
Rich C, yeah I do know what you mean but sometimes if head office don’t know when somethings coming in staff on the shop floor get stuck in the middle, normally phoning the manufacturer direct can find out though.

RudeBoy, can you remember who it was and I’ll give him an extra five minutes for lunch.

Yeah drops are fine, used to run Spesh Rock Combo bars on a Cindercone back in the day, really steep stuff was a bit sketchy but rideable.

Some companies will be waiting until they get stock in at the new prices so you might still be able to pick up a bargain.

I usually put the fs away for winter and ride a nice little bodged together hardtail and it’s always loads of fun. Trying very hard to resist the urge to splurge some money on it…….babies coming on monday…must not buy bike stuff.

Just go SLX and you’ll be fine, I never bother with anything fancy on the front and the new shimano prices mean a lot of the stuff is now very poor vfm.
