South was alright, still pretty rocky and I’d aim for a shorter ride due to the heat. Was fairly technical and got hard when it got hot. If it has been cooler I would have gone further but I’m not great above 30 degrees! Was few sandy bits that were a slog.
Replace every 3-5 years without major crash, comfiest I’ve found are the Giro Spherical ones. Tried quiet a few others and just felt bulky and awkward.
Sold tons of Arkoses, Neons and all the kids bikes all great and well priced. The problem is if you don’t invest in brands then they slowly become obsolete. Was perusing the new websites and they seem to lack top end models of bikes, nothing over about 7k, that’s obviously not cheap but bit odd I thought.
People will still buy stuff from them and they’ll be unaware of the buyout. Not me personally and god help anyone who buys a bike from them that develops problems.
Had it on the way to work, wasn’t on pavement mixed use bit as it’s badly surfaced but close pass even though it’s a two lane road then red faced screaming about not using the cycle path. He was apoplectic even though it made no difference to his journey and he was actually just now sitting at traffic lights.
Where have you ended up Jameso? Was at Evans for years but jumped ship to Balfes a while ago after the Frasers group fun. Always liked the pinnacles as easy to sell. Regret not buying an arkose while I was there.
Got a few variations from Castelli, endura and chpt3, use them a lot. Short sleeved does me down to about 10 degrees with different base layers and below that long sleeved does very well. Got some nanoflex arm warmers for those in between days.
After a summer of building work the garage is nearly back in my hands so not entirely looking forward to seeing how much fitness ive lost. Preparing for dry heaving and wobbly legs sometime next week.
Try getting some PlusGas as it will do a better job of unsticking the seal created, heating up the crank with boiling water so it expands a bit sometimes works. Last resort is drill it out very carefully until you can snap/dislodge what remains of the spindle and remove it.
Recently got a Hammerhead Karoo2 and quite liking it in comparison to a Garmin, set up so much easier and screen much better. Not used it in anger route wise yet though.
Often get calls from old people trying to renew their AA insurance as my local landline number is the same as some bit of the AA membership number. The joy of arguing with people that you’re not the AA and can’t Renee their insurance…..phone no longer plugged in
While I do think twitter etc has led to many like ones that have been horrendous and clearly directed and vindictive, I do feel like karma is in play here.
I think it’s pushing the limits of grip that makes them crash, see also pro downhillers. They crash far more often than I do but think they might be a squidge more talented.
Topeak ninja pump in seatpost, co2 cartridge and tyre lever co2 combi thing, small multi tool, butyl tube in rapha pocket bag thing. Also for wolf tooth encase in bars for anything more in depth. Don’t like stuff on the bike.
Brompton use unique derailleurs so different fitting from normal, also with the smaller wheel you’d be in danger of constantly bashing it. Standard derailleur is 2 speed and the newer version is 4 speed but they’re mounted on the rear axle and chainstay so don’t see it working without a lot of time and energy.
I find with a fat bike they’re extremely capable until they aren’t. The comfort and grip sort of lulls you into a false sense of security then you find you’re going pretty fast and you discover two big tyres aren’t quite the same as 150mm of dampened suspension. But then again that half the fun of them. Tyre choice and pressure do make a big difference though. Surly Bud on the front and Jumbo Jim on the back is a nice combo, I tend to drop the pressure until I can feel it squirm under hard cornering then add a bit.
Actually I hope Pog isn’t ready tactically, much more fun to watch when he’s barreling off the front when he doesn’t need to. Then watching everyone else look at their power meter reading a to see what they should do.
