I might start a Kickstarter fund to get webcams installed at all the drops/gaps. There will be some comedy gold up there.

Hell yawwwh! Gonna be so many guys on XC bikes hitting the big stuff :/ Oh I forgot to mention, This is being built next to the gully. Pretty big area to work with.

I’ve ridden on the roads with 4 trail lights (2000lm a pop) Crazy bright. i have black plastic hood on them for the made out of black pvc heated up and formed into hoods. Then banded on. 8000lm doesn’t dazzle them.

I use 8000lm for trail riding btw. Overkill? nah i ride **** fast on the trails at night. So the next time you see a car driving down the trails. That would be me.

… Don’t go ride on your local woods or you’ll spend 3 hours repairing what you broke and another 3 hours cleaning yourself, your gear, and bike off 😀 made that mistake yesterday!! Rear tyre just shredded up the berm like it’s paper :/ 3 hours to fix the bugger.

Just read a review of the carbon 456, sounds like the back end is uber harsh… need to try and get a test ride on a ti 456

that was done by bikeradar. Which are a bunch of useless riders who don’t know anything about bikes. It’s a nice ass frame.

get a pig frame. i used to have one. don’t know why you need super slack angles.. if you want to pelt something DH get a voodoo bokor, wanga, or a pig. or evo 456

Voodoo bokor. Running a 140mm fork atm, shoots downhill like nothing else. Cheap too.

Thanks for the Info guys! I’ll do the conversion for now, and I’ll upgrade my whole drive train to XT or some sram kit!

Oh I forgot to ask, do I need a DH helmet and goggles? I heard somewhere that the Uplift has rules about helmets.. I ride with an All Mountain helmet and goggles. Would that be allowed?

Replacing the chainrings is what I plan todo soon, since replacing my current chainrings would mean getting a whole new bb and chainring setup.

I honestly have no idea what my BB is, but it’s a cartridge style one with the axle integrated. I THINK it’s square taper. Voodoo bikes tend to slop a bit when it comes to the drive train and bearings.

So eventually all the unbranded crap is gonna go and be replaced with better kit. But for now, I’ll convert it into a 2×9 with a bashguard 🙂

That could be because the oil takes time to drain back down to the bottom of the leg and when upside down there is no oil for a hydraulic lockout to work with. Flip the bike back up the right way, the oil goes back to where it should and all is ok.

    good to know, thanks.

Quick update, the wheel is now fixed. My local bike shop (halfords) actually managed to do something right! they took MOST of the buckle out, there’s just a very small one now, only noticeable if you look for it.

Ok, quick update.. THE LOCKOUT WORKS AGAIN! no idea how or why but i’m guessing that it didn’t like being stored up side down but yesterday i flipped it round and put the wheels back on and today the lockout works 😀 no idea how?

The rim is flawless apart from the buckle, spent 1 hour looking over it cos i was bored no cracks or creases, took it to my local halfords today (lol i know) it’s the closest bike shop.

Also it’s probaly worth mentioning that the rim’s are Alex sx44’s and some say this is a strong wheel.. damn i’m bad at asking questions, Next time i’ll try to put all the info in the OP first

!!! I forgot to mention that i rode home on it no problem and the rear wasn’t bobbing around. Also, i don’t know how tight is tight for spokes but i played around with them again and some of them move more against the other spoke in the cross over than others. i can try and get a video of the wheel.

I’m planning check the headset and bb but i don’t have the tools to check the forks. I can see one allen bolt on the bottom of the fork and i have a key for it but apart from that i don’t have anything else needed to check the fork. Also As for the landing force, i really don’t think it was that great, the lockout was just on so the shock though me off the bike.

You can buy an adapter and disc for less than £40 together, It’s only 40 quid if you don’t like smaller discs (doubt you will to be honest) then just put your 180’s back on. I personally am upgrading to a 180 rear from a 160. Even though you’re meant to use the front brake 90% of the time.

Also as a side note, is there an easy way to test?

Also worth checking the position of your brake levers, many people tip them right down which forces you to roll your wrists over the grips. If you tip them up to a more horizontal position, when you hit small bumps/rocks/ledges you’ll be pushing the bars over them with the bottom of your palm which is a strong position, and again makes you less likely to go OTB.

going to try that! i have them at errm in a slightly angled down position at the mo i’ll drop them down to a point where it looks stupid lol

Ooh my gosh 🙁 i feel you mate i have had my old orange 5 stolen from inside my garage too a few years ago, eventually found it a year later chained to a fence and in not the greatest condition, most of the steel parts were rusted, wheels had been though some big hits and bad landings, fork deflated and shock utterly broken. Chain was still but someone somewhere had been riding it and then decided to chain it up 8 blocks from me, got the **** in the end he went to prison with a £50,000 charge on multiple thefts and break ins.

The only reason i would is to learn to brake properly, easier to do myself with advice from here and friends 🙂 i’m a better biker than it may seem, but braking is my weak point. The simple fix is stop being a pussy and use ya front brake 😀

I don’t lock my brakes up, i just don’t get the power i expect from decent hydraulic brakes. Next time i ride i’ll take all your advice into consideration and try to implement it. I think i’ll end up getting a better set of brakes and for the mean time, pads, i have resin in the rear and metallic in the front. Thanks for the advice lads! should help me a ton!

This is my second set of rear pads on a 2month old bike, i must be doing something wrong, I read somewhere that sanding the rotor and pads lightly will dramatically increase performance. Also when changing pads, it’s it advised to clean off the rotor? get rid of the old pad material?

I’m worried about going over the bars 😀 it hurts, thanks for the advice, also do you know anything about “glazing over”? i think i could of done that to my rear brake – probably the reason it feels like shite. Idea’s on how to fix it?

    Regards.
