Very nice indeed. I've sat on a few and could be tempted if I had the cash (which I don't..)

Here's hoping we have a long hot summer…..

antigee – no the current shape – with the folding seats.

Cheers pacemaker – how do you find the 1.8 engine, enough grunt for overtakes even when loaded up? I don't drive particularly fast (got a motorbike for that) but we go down to Cornwall a lot and those constant hills on the A30 are tedious in our current 1.8 petrol Citroen Picasso, so looking forward to going back to a torquey diesel.

What car are you thinking of getting Dylan?

We have been (window) shopping for a new car today…..

Btw – a lot of car dealers apply a 2 or 3% surcharge on credit card payments, could add a fair bit to the screen price.

Ah Saxon. I did (briefly, I was young) want a white tassled leather jacket…. :-\

Wheels of Steel, 747, never great, but damn good nonetheless.

Ho Chi Min, Leigh Woods, when it's dry and dusty (about 6.2 days a year on average) ridden flat out is rather nice.

Most of the Quantock singletrack I've ridden has been mint, ace, wicked <insert suitable adjective>

Realistically, yes it's a school night. However I refuse to let the weekend end early so tend to enjoy a good bottle of red. Likewise Thursday is a school night but it's long been the start of the (pre) weekend for me so I tend to inbibe then too. Luckily years of practice allows me to perform acceptably at work after too much booze the night before.

Saw 'Maiden tour the first album with Di'anno, loved that album (still do), and they were cracking live. Once Dickinson took over on vocals I lost interest and never regained it. Di'anno era Maiden had a slight punk edge to then IMO whereas the later (and bl00dy succesful) incarnation always seemed to me to be rather a pastiche of metal aimed at 13 year old boys.

That RC30 pic has me drooling – bestest looking sports bike ever.

Had a VFR750F for years, not a full on sports bike but that V4 burble (especially with an unbaffled race can) was addictive….

On the road – yais. My rather tatty Deodara overshoes are 15 years old and still hanging together.

Off road: Forget it IMO. Get some over-sized winter boots and wear decent socks underneath.

I was looking at getting some Mavic shoes but was put off my the similarity to the Morrisons logo. Your post has confirmed my fears..

I've got an SLR on one road bike and an SLR kit carbonio on another and I love them. Not sure how long they'd last off road though, the leather looks very thin. After years on Flites my current favourite saddle for off road is the Charge Spoon – very comfy and dirt cheap so no worries if it gets trashed in a crash.

No personal experience, but I've worked In collections / recoveries for over 20 years and from what I've seen I wouldn't touch in invoice factoring with a bargepole, for reasons as above.

Only done a 2 hour very very muddy night ride on mine so far which didn't allow me to get to know the bike that well at all, but initial impressions were very promising.

I bought a new 3G off a guy on avforums (unwanted upgrade) for £300 and have gone on a sim only deal. When the 4G. comes out I'll sell the 3G for not too much loss and go back on contract to get the 4G

As per Rusty Trowel – p*ss taking. It really defines Britishness for me (among other things obviously).

I was 15 and a big AC/DC fan (still am), I remember my mate phoning me with the news that Bon SCott had died – I was gutted.

Much though I like the later stuff, Bon-era AC/DC will never be bettered.

    RIP

I've got the Nukeproof low-rise bar on my Blue Pig. I've not cut them down as yet, at 760mm they are a pita moving the bike around in the workshop etc, but I have to say I really like the feel of them on the trail. Probably only a matter of time till I get caught between the trees though….

Just built up a Ragley Blue Pig with Nuke Proof 760mm risers. They do feel wide and I've clattered the car wing mirror twice riding between it and the wheely bin where normally I have no problems. Only ridden on the road so far up and down a steep hill last night to bed the brakes in, but they feel quite nice. Acid test will be tomorrow when I see how they feel in the woods.

If you can afford them and have the storage space I'd say keep 'em. I've nearly sold a couple of my bikes over the years when I havn't been using them but always ended up glad I didn't. I'm now up to 9 bikes (albeit two aren't built up) but what the hell, I have a deep deep fear of lying on my death bed and thinking "I never had enough toys"….

Brant: ah, I'd seen a pic of someone else's BP that had the rear brake routed that way and liked the look of it. Maybe I'll reroute it then. Had thought the stem may want to come down a bit but thought I'd test ride it first before cutting any more steerer off.

Chainslapp: havn't riddn it properly yet or bedded the brakes in so can't say. Major pita to set up and bleed though, I got through nearly half a litre of mineral oil and the rear is still slightly spongy. They are known for being a pain to bleed though apparently.
