mrmo has it. Since the Supreme Court hearing in ’09 you’ve no chance.

I know a few people who managed to get £5-6,000 back a few years ago (beggars belief that people run their accounts that badly…..)

As said above, not sure there’s anywhere that ticks all your boxes. You’re probably better off moving around. The harbourside / centre / Park St / Queens Rd area should have plenty to suit you, and it’s all close together, i.e. easily walkable.

Same reason I started smoking, drinking to excess, smoking weed, doing acid………..

I thought it’d make me cool as f*ck

It didn’t, nor did the others, but 20 years on I just can’t shake the habit……

    Thanks for sharing.

My dad’s still around but I’ve never really had any kind of relationship with him.

It’s sad, very sad, but the upside is it’s given me a template as to how not to be with my kids – we’re very close (at the moment, teenage years on the horizon…).

As said, compact road (maybe with a 48 outer) – just the ticket.

Had a “non C4” Picasso for 9 years from new and it never missed a beat. The few problems we had were electrical admittedly, but nothing major.

My boss has a Grand C4 as a company car and has had no probs at all. I’ve been in it a lot as a passenger and like it a lot.

Modern life is rubbish. So said some band or other….

Seriously, yeah – been through periods where a combination of work and parenting responsibilities have led me to feel I’ve been hanging on by my fingertips. Two things that have worked for me are riding (recommended) and booze (probably not recommended).

It will get better. Kids and pets cause immense stress at times but the positives they bring outweigh the negatives a thousandfold.

    Hang in there!

No address, just phone no, e-mail addy, and bank details. I’ll ask him for his address then go for it. (It’s also a bl00dy good deal as he wants paying in Euros…..)

    coulda… yes, quite!

Last went to Ireland on holiday in 2003 and it was damn expensive then, can imagine it’s horrendous now.

I spoke to the guy on the phone and he sounded totally genuine, we were yapping for ages. Also checked with the site he advertises on and they said he’s been with them for 18 months and had no negative feedback. I’m sure it’s all kosher, but I’m naturally very risk-averse so like to have all bases covered whenever possible.

Here’s mine just after I built it – I’ve since rerouted the rear brake hose and changed the seatpost. Absolutely cracking frame, very confidence-inspiring.

My younger sister is mentally handicapped (has learning difficulties in current parlance). She attended a Steiner school until she was 16 then moved into a hostel run by a local charity for adults with learning difficulties – she’s now 43.

The school was, in my memory and my parents’ opinion, excellent – really couldn’t fault it and it was absolutely the right place for her to be.

However I knew a few kids who went to a “normal” (for want of a better term) Steiner school and I’d have grave reservations. It seems to me to be a very hippy dippy let the kids learn if / when they want to sort of philosophy – which may and can work for some kids, but I don’t think I’d have sent mine to a Steiner school.

It is perfectly possible to build a trail that is sustainable in all weathers and still has technical interest.

    bikemonkey is spot on.

Ultimately you do what is best for you and your wife, nothing else matters. Doesn’t mean you can’t do it in as “nice” a way as possible.

    Lovely bike.

I remember lusting after those Montana Pros back in the day. They did a blue and pink colour scheme IIRC which I fell in lurve with 🙂

But I’ll never give either up while I’m still physically able to ride.

Fortunately there’s some indications that population growth should peak sometime this century and start falling again.

Really? Got any sources? Not being facetious, I’ve long thought that population growth is by far the biggest problem the human race / the planet faces, so if indeed the curve is not ever-upwards I will sleep easier 🙂

What like using the markets to regulate carbon emissions ? Cos that’s really worked huh ?

Nope, because at present there’s no real incentive for it to work.

Maybe it’s cos I’m a glass half full kind of guy that I see that there ‘s light at the end of the tunnel it’s just not linked to continued economic growth.

Fair enough – so what is it linked to? (bearing in mind that most of us – Western society – have lifestyles based on economic growth).

    We’re doomed

See, you’re a glass half empty kind of guy.

I’m a glass half full kind of guy.

For all it’s many many faults, I have a (possibly naieve) faith in the human race to survive, and to develop economic / environmental policies / processes to do so.

It’ll take being on the cusp of disaster to do so however…
