Its really gutting to hear this, followed them for years and she was part of some of my good friends extended social circle and knew her well.  She was a lovely positive person with a cracking voice.

Today I am mainly listening to Danielle Moore :(

@bruce what plb? I looked a while ago and they were all subscription and never quite justify it for the amount of use it would get.

Paper map if I do not know where I want to go or want to explore an area this is mainly running.

Watch/gps if I am doing a set specific route with a map as back up, this is mainly biking.

I did the dragons back a few years ago and started with using watch/gps but eventually turned to using map/compass as I preferred the longer sight line of what is coming up, the context around where you are and to be more fully immersed in the endeavour as I found just watching a dot move across a line was pretty boring.

My background was doing lots of navigation events so its always just been my preference to fondle maps

A swarm of honey bees just made a nest in our wall Monday so thousands and thousands.

Usually just in the garden always see a few flying round pre our new neighbours arriving.

Within 1 mile of city centre Leeds.

Someone is coming with a big hoover next week to take them all to re-home them.

friends of mine wandered straight into a festival by donning some high vis vests and walking past the security in their high vis at the trade entrance. Just merged right in unseen.

We are thinking the same, and as someone who has been exclusively Mac for work and personal for last decade, I would lean to PC.

He would want to game on his as well as school work so this is a consideration too.

As my fitness drops, my gears increase. Was single speed singular swift, then went alfine 8 speed, now gone 11 speed. I seem to change it every 1/2 year so imagine it will be back to SS before the end of the year.

Surly cross check currently fixed road gear set up but thinking of making this a more CX type ride with easier SS freewheeling ride.

My wife now rides my santa cruz chameleon, It is now truly a retro ride, sliding dropouts and made in the US from scaffalding pipes. This used to be single speed but my wife prefers to mash the gears.

Probably worth mentioning that Elon Musk is one of the founders of OpenAI who created chatGPT. He resigned a few years later.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenAI

So do we think he is bashing it as he is no longer part of it and its FOMO or something else?

Nope, not in my lifetime for the MENS team.

Thankfully the Womens team did bring it home.

There is no real conflict with the rest of the UK.

My experience based on how to implement for a large online and store based retailer. Can I ask what yours is based on?

    @intheborders
tbh that is really not one for me to answer is it. That is probably more for the leaders of Holyrood to answer. All the candidates for SNP leadership seem to be rolling back on it. My point is ONLY it is a lot better for UK as a whole to do it all at once.

Personally I think it should be implemented UK wide asap and we are already looking at how we do this across the EU and as one large trading bloc it does make it a lot easier than the UK.

@tjagain, it would be better for the UK to adopt as a whole trading block as the problem with cross border trade on the bottle recycling scheme is quite complex. Especially around web based sales. Essentially companies will have to make Scotland/Rest of UK a seperate trading country with different rules for a short space of time until the rest of the UK come on board.

My understanding is from looking at how to implement this in a large online and store based retailer, however I understand this is even harder for smaller traders from what I have read in the news.

It is a great idea and will be implemented, it is more a timing issue

I am in, really need to lose some weight as I can’t be bothered to go buy more jeans when I have a load that just don’t fit anymore.

The weekly weight loss guide is monthly surely on the spreadsheet?

Might be good for a weekly and a monthly column?

one note or notes on a mac I find is just for notes, transitory information that is one up from textedit or notepad.

If you actually want to organise yourself to keep on track I have had good success with Asana which is web based and the free edition does enough.

Keeping others on track, there is not a system in the world to accomplish this.

My mtb keeps switching between SS and geared. Been thinking of putting it back to single speed for a while

My commuter is a surly cross check, here in CX/gravel mode but now its got fancy wheels and is fixed with road tyres. Its not getting much love now i don’t commute so occasionally used to do short trips instead of a car

Its been a pretty rubbish year but like the idea of the thread and positivity is my new mantra for 2022 so may as well start early.

Finally got a new house… we had one fall through AFTER we packed all our belongings in the removal truck. We had to sell and buy twice this year. It worked out for the better in the end.

MIL recovered well from a heart attack

    Got a new job last week with a 80% pay rise..yep 80%!!

TBH these all happened in the last 3 months, the first 9 months can f right off.

Pre pandemic I used the free gym at work. Mainly did core, then squats, deadlifts etc. Pretty basic things.

Found it helped with maintaining technique and proper posture when I got tired and felt stronger on long climbs and descents.

Personally think it worked for me. I imagine milage may vary depending on type of running. I think more benefit for ultra and longer fell and trail type races. Your 5/10km road will probably benefit more from another run.

@andyb39 well done for getting that far!

I was a bit gutted I did not set off earlier on the 2nd day but the tight cut offs caught me by surprise in that heat. Rest of the days I found okay. Really quite enjoyed day 5 as the terrain suited me.

End of day 4 from the water point to the finish was just unpleasant but was the only day I finished in daylight apart from the final stroll into the finish day 6.

Going to go back 2023 to finish it properly and see this year as just a long recce

Been a while posting on this thread but starting to enjoy my running a bit more again. External stresses and being rubbish in lockdown put me back a huge amount.

Managed to pick it all up again from about June. Bloody good job as did dragons back race last week. Missed cut off on day 2 after 2/3rds of day due to just not being able to run in the heat but did all of the other 5 days reasonably comfortably but not earth shatteringly good. This year had the smallest % of completions at around 25% which was mainly down to it being sooo hot.

Taking a few weeks off from proper running then planning on a 100km back end of Oct. Tour of Pendle in Nov then start thinking of stupid plans for next year.

Need to lose more chub to get back to being a bit faster but all going in right direction.

Walk today, as did dragons back 6 day ultra running race last week so trying to take it easy plus packing the house for the house move tomorrow means time was short.

Will aim to knock off some of those 30 day challenge apps before Christmas.

Took today off ages ago to go on a decent full day bike ride. Got to top of mastille lane in Dales forded a bridleway up to my thighs in water, rode through a new lake on way back down.

That was enough for me, went home.

I had it a few years ago. Really ill for a couple of weeks. I then had a lot of stomach issues. Cramps, Urgent need to poo etc.

Turns out I had become lactose intolerant. Something to do with stripping all my good bacteria from my gut so unable to break it down.

Took me a while to work that out as had no idea I could get food intolerances from it.

Heard pro biotics are good for you. Reset the natural balance of your stomach.

Shadows on the Wasteland by Dr Mike Stroud is a really good book.

Written about his and Ranulph Fiennes unsupported crossing of Antarctica. An honest brutal book that really had me gripped.

I also really enjoyed his other book. Survival of the fittest has tales of adventure in them but also then goes into the actual science of it behind the feats.

Yep I get that very occasionally. Usually with an intruder in the room and I cannot move to stop them coming to get me. They are on top of me and I can’t breath or move properly.

    Turns out its reasonably common.

Can’t seem to find the DT Swiss with old school 135 rear spacing.

Lightly used hope4’s seem to go VERY fast at the moment. Would consider new but wondered if there were better options at the moment.

My assumption on looking was Shimano still licensing hence the lack of options.

Oh should say I don’t want shimano wheels. Had xt wheels for a while and tbh I am bored of cup and cone.

With the pm saying to avoid non-essential travel, are people considering that to include travel to and from the home to wherever we bike and run?

Meant to spend a weekend running in lakes with a friend. Chances are we would see no-one else but in my mind it is not necessarily essential. Apart from a stepping stone to my summer goals.

    Lol @thisisnotaspoon,

I think: I want a bike I like the look of.

Other people think: absolutely nothing as most people have better things to give a toss about than a bloke on a bike going to work.

Oh and single speed as cheaper and more reliable during winter, but yeh bloody hipsters.

I’ll have a think about that clickster. I was hoping for really cheap and cheerful but guessing that may be a false economy.
