Agree with footflaps, all those routes are classic and have everything. Worth noting though that Reeth is a fair old drive from Skipton. Pic of my 5 above was at head of Gunnerside Gill.

Nope, you just need a tiny bit of copper grease, or normal grease ( but a smigin) on the back of your brake pads!

That’s s…te mate. Based in baildon and an orange geek, will keep an eye out. Home made alarm based on rape alarm kept the scrotes out of my shed last year, and bought a very expensive motor bike chain and lock all bikes to big F off piece of concrete. Good luck in finding them.

Would have left it in shop and said I wanted it back by next week sorted and with a free crud catcher attached, in a polite tongue in cheek sort of way..

Yep, yep, yep, nisby but your shock is at fault, you can either have mojo service it but if you want the full effect get a CC spring shock. Not cheap but if you want the bike to do its thing then that’s the answer.

Yep prezi, you will never use power point again, just don’t get too swirly with it

If you put 190 in it and it’s still sloppy with PP on then it needs a service, nowt to do with frame. At that weight it should be about 150 psi and at almost lock out on PP.

Ran X kings on my orange, yuck – durge! Neither one thing or another!

Now I’m a minion fan for big spring autumn Wales & Lakes rock fest, swamp thing for winter, and for general high roller. I would recommend high roller, it’s pretty solid and as good as I am if you see what I mean.

Yep, I’m local and been out today in the rain and it was all doable.

Definitely ever go down Jacobs ladder but whilst I wouldn’t say it’s difficult it’s a bumpy old bounce for a first timer … You wouldn’t want your first OTB in the peaks to be there… But equally it’s all doable…

Told my daughter (7) in a debate fueled by my wife who is catholic and a roady that actually Jesus was a mountain biker, as you would. She goes to the local CofE primary school and delighted in telling her class and teacher this. Miss Drew did not wholey approve… I’m glad she didn’t add that God rides an Orange!

Shorter stem would help but it sounds as though your tech is not quite right. Compress before lip, push bars forward don’t lift, project body forward, spot landing, in air feet back to bring nose down, keep loose!

Make sure you know what a shorter stem will do to your handling characteristics, it is one of the most significant differences you can make to how your bike behaves, just don’t be surprised by it. Shorter stem means quicker response to stearring and further back for DH but it will feel twitchy and unforgiving of you over cook it. Very short stem, great for tech DH but you need light hands and wide bars …

The science behind it is hotly debated. I think the tolerances sometimes, especially on new kit are such that it just happens with a particular chain and ring combi. Solution? Absolutely spotless and not over lubed chain or replace chain with SRAM and power link. Whilst your at it why not buy 2 chains and change them every couple of rides. Dead easy with powere link and makes it simple to have nice clean chain often. Will also prolong the life of gears massively, a chain is only 20 quid, new cassete lots more.

That’s cool, sounded a bit NIMBY of me about the downhill but it strikes me that that is now another permeant track down the side of the moor. Problem I guess is that people keep riding it, don’t suppose the bracken will grow back this summer . Once fell out a couple of years ago with a guided group of 15 from the south riding down from the trig point, what an old fart I have become!

At the top of the tram way BW turn right back on yourself to a FP which leads you eventually to the Baildon Bank climbing crags, it passes woods that sit above saltair and Shipley. Don’t want to go their if it could provide conflict. Ironically what bugs me as a local is people riding the top plateau of the moor. Have ride
The BW up to caravan park for 15 years and have seen an increase in erosion due to riding from the trig point, and there had been downhill building through the bracken… Rant rant sorry.

Find a bit of flat grass that you don’t mind trashing (back garden?). Cycle a tightish fig. 8 loop over and over until you have a track forming. Now keep doing it sticking to the line exactly but lean the bike over further and further with each loop spinning in the cross over section. Increase spead gradually and keep smooth. You will be amazed how low the bike will go and retain grip. Make a conscious effort to drive the bike into dirt with that compressed outside arm and foot, oh and have your sadle low. Enjoy

All BWs into Hawes and around are pretty cool and you can link them together for quite a few routes that are all interesting and quite compact around a single area! Or head south over the tops for a biggy. Also, go a bit further north to Gunnerside.
