Thanks, that makes sense. Thankfully the man in the shop set it up otherwise there would likely have been swearing.

Assuming we can rule out the possibility that you’ve accidentally adjusted the rebound setting somehow and havent been able to get it back to where it was with the adjuster, then yes logically you must have upset something when pushing the damper in by hand.

If you’re confident, try a damper service. Shouldn’t be that much harder than the lower leg service if you’re comfortable doing that.

Or take it to someone that knows what they’re doing and pay them.

Not sure on that specific damper but assuming it’s a cartridge damper, changing the oil in the lower legs shouldn’t affect the damping at all. If it’s the type where the oil in the lower leg is used for damping, then you’ve most likely put the wrong weight or volume in, or blocked a port with grease.

Have you serviced the damper or just the lowers? This is key info.

Muc off for me, it comes with a UV pen and shows up any leaks using the UV pen, plus it smells like forest fruits.

Not sure this exists. If the glentress red trails are too rough for you youre going to be limited in choice. Blue trails tend to be short or fireroads as you’ve mentioned.

Scotland isnt known for easy trails in general.

Someone will probably point out I’m wrong shortly.

Check trailforks for recent condition reports. I havent ridden Thornielee but have ridden Golfie a few and you should have no problem on the usual suspects like Flat White and maybe Repear Offender.

Has anyone sprayed five tens with waterproofing spray such as Nikwax? Bought some on the weekend to give this a go but havent tried yet.

Not going but kielder is all mechanically built hardpack trails so the weather shouldn’t cause any problems. Did consider it but the fact they make you do the whole course twice put me off as it sounds like a long day for a sunday in October.

Strange time of year for it. Not that summer was any drier! Personally if I was doing bike packing I’d stick to surfaced tracks as grass and mud are shite when you’re carrying your life on the bike.

Suppose you could sell them, use the money to pay for good physiotherapy to help it heal, then once its good again acquire new bikes?

Unfortunately not based near any of those, and having bought a bike online before that didn’t fit me I’m very wary of not sitting on them before I buy now. I like the look of the cannon dale. Centimetres as a measurement for bicycles still confuses me…

I worked on my fitness all year and the transitions still broke me. Did you see its graded the second hardest EWS category?

Muc off is the best sealant on the market but often the most expensive too.
