Summer school holidays are an all round shit show in the UK, the same lot who are our rioting this week are usually out nicking stuff, fighting in pubs, driving around like idiots and generally being unpleasant/hanging around in groups intimidating people.

As soon as the summer heat and no school hits they get bored and fired up and use any excuse to look for trouble.

This has clearly been building up for a while a til a suitable excuse was found to create some carnage and 90% are just the aforementioned idiots tagging along for something to do.

I can’t really picture the use for this, cant you hear when a car is approaching from behind?

I think it’s something you have to learn when you’re a kid otherwise it’s unlikely to click.

“What I found interesting is that the charges are a bit misleading. When I read ‘making Indecent pics of children’ I’m thinking he’s been personally taking the images

Whereas apparently just opening them after being sent them in wattsapp falls under this law. Not sure why he’s opening 40 pics of kids however, so still very much a nonce in my eyes.”

I think any reasonable person, open opening something like by accident would simply go straight to the police station to report it.

To do anything but that implies intent to receive them, to me.

Love my code RSC, never had an issue with them in five years. I’m a heavy rider and they slow me fine on downhill tracks.

    “nicking your data”

Whatever, part of life now sadly.

It makes sense for it to work in reverse to me, you want to contribute as much as you can when you’re young so it compounds, then once you get older then interest it makes will be worth more than the actual contributions so you can dial them back down.

I’m only 31 but pretty conscious now about trying to make the most of a pension. My current employer sadly only contributes the bare minimum they legally have to which is one of the main reasons I’m considering jumping ship.

“which if you had a phone in a cradle and doing that it’s against the law”

It’s not. They’re no different, you can use a built in touch driving, you can use a phone in a cradle while driving. However if either of those distract you enough in the eyes of a police officer, then you can be charged for being distracted. Using a phone in your hand is illegal.

Okay, thanks everyone. Sounds like an alignment tool would be a worthwhile investment in the long run.

If you’re going to pay for the materials up front at least agree a list of what they are ordering and have them delivered or brought to your house as soon as possible so if anything happens, you at least have them.

“Also, check the cassette isn’t bent. I sent 2 GX cassettes back to SRAM that were both bent out of the box.”

Is it obvious if they are? It doesn’t look it but the tooth profile is so odd that i can’t tell. It’s an NX cassette

It’s a brand new bike, I do have an Alpkit near me I can take it to since I just got it a week ago but I’m worried they won’t really know what they’re doing with it and whether I should just bite the bullet order an alignment tool and do it myself since I’ll probably need to use one in the future anyway.

Someone I line manage is an architectural technologist but we’re very much used to autocad as a practice and although we have Revit we’re struggling to transition without some kind of training course which seem to be very expensive.

I just received my Camino and the paint was chipped when it arrived. The PDI sheet said customer aware of frame damage, the thing is I wasn’t as nobody had made me aware. They were inconsequential so I accepted a £100 voucher off them instead of sending it back.

The wrong chain was fitted too, a flat top on a mullet build so they sent a replacement eagle chain out but the quick link was missing.

    Bit irritating.

Anyway I don’t think the mech hanger is aligned properly as the chain catches the cogs in both directions despite setting the B screw with the sram tool and using the AXS micro adjust in every position I could.

Maybe you could fit a 2x drivetrain to it to get a good range of high and low gears?

Christ. I think I’d have buried them or myself long before two weeks.

    Why are they there?

I don’t think it matters if some is left, i have only been meticulous about getting it all out when i’ve changed sealant brand and not being sure how they’d react with each other.

If the valve is gummed up, in my experience it can be better to replace it at that point.

It’s not that they’re badly built as such, just hard to get spares for and not readily made to be disassembled easily like some other brands are.

The general consensus is that they’re cheap to make, do a good job, but aren’t very serviceable.

Not worth bothering, where else is he going to park it? If it means parking it on another street he probably isn’t going to so id not even start the conversation. Not worth the effort.

“it’s because it tastes like shite, or more accurately, nothing”

The question/thread title is how bad are they for you, not do they taste great or not.

I suspect whatever you put on the bread has far more significance than the bread itself.

I could start a thread about how bad is butter/saturated fat/animal fat etc for you and I guarantee nobody would start talking about how disgusting it is, even though similar health arguments could be made.

I eat whatever bread is on the shelf at the supermarket and I’m still alive and healthy. Dunno what the big fuss is.

Whenever the rise of processed foods comes up I always wonder why its seen as such a big deal as nobody can ever seem to point to more than one or two randomised controlled trials that show a genuine issue with them on human biology, and life expectancy isn’t exactly dropping either in the western world.

We wander around in an environment filled with carbon monoxide fumes, particulate matter, background radiation, asbestos, and fungal spores in the air and we’re worried about a bread making process?

Everything I read suggests the dealer network are a shambles, warranty work is painful and spares/parts can often be on backorder for up to 6 months for fairly important stuff.

I’d avoid on that basis alone.

Yeah I’m pretty sure we do in this house at the minute, and loads at work have been hit by something that’s lasted two or three days.

Just going to work from home next week to make sure I see it off fully so I don’t pass it to anyone at work that hasn’t already had it.

I don’t know why this is surprising, the rail network is dreadful and poorly connected, and investing in new rolling stock is a huge capital expense at a time where borrowing costs are comparatively high.

I’d move it. If you’ve notified the DVLA online that you’ve sold it, it’s no longer your responsibility. Take the insurance off it asap as well if you haven’t already otherwise things could get messy if anything happens to it.

Didn’t really feel a benefit to cross climates when I had them on my last car, they did seem to puncture quite readily though.

Personally can’t wait to see the back of gear cables, always found them annoying to set up and maintain precise shifting on. A lot of that has been down to less than perfect cable routing on bikes and the smaller distance between gears on 11 and 12 speed setups. Wireless does away with all of that and charging a battery is hardly a new thing in 2024.

I’m with TJ, it just isn’t necessary. Lots of things you don’t realise have protein in like rice, beans and bread and you probably already eat enough meat to meet your requirements.

If you weren’t already getting enough protein you would know.

Whatever it is, it sounds more than the car is probably worth to put right.

Travelling to Turkey with a several month old baby seems risky to me from the get go but each to their own. Goes without saying that babies especially under 6 months are are highly vulnerable to infections especially in a foreign country, they haven’t even developed a proper immune system to the country they’re from at that stage. I can’t personally understand the thought process that leads one to think this is sensible.

Hope all works out for them.

Of course I could have disputed it and gone to court, but it would have been against the advice of my solicitor and I didn’t dare risk a bill at the end of it.

Surely it could all be covered by small claims court which doesn’t involve costs?
