Dacia seem to be ok, BUT if its cheap to buy then chances are it will depreciate like a stone, Fine if your going to keep it for years, but not so good if you shift it on in 3 years.
This coming from a man who runs a Hyundai ( which has been faultless )
AirconAdeFree MemberFront wheel here, lets that tiny bit of oil in fox forks run down and lube the upper bushings. Not had any fork wear problems for the last 5 years!
AirconAdeFree MemberCheers Composite, you should an email by now.
CD, ta for doing the link, shame you missed to get out. And yes the enduro route is good but they missed a cracking climb and decent out between the bridges and the stiperstones if you have a look at the day ride Pt1 you can see what I mean.

AirconAdeFree MemberHi chaps,
Most people Should have emails by now, with the exception of Phil as I can’t seem to find your email in your profile.Nice site there Composite, If I sent you the info would it be ok for you to put a link to them?
Just ping a email back to me and let me know if they open up correctly for you.

AirconAdeFree MemberSorry for the delay chaps, only just logged on. when I get back home I will send out the info. As for a link sorry but I’m a bit of a luddite so have not got much of an clue when it comes to stuff like that. No worries with emailing tho!
AirconAdeFree MemberI’m guessing that cable your trying to connect to is a two core with each core being multi strand.
The cable connection points are/look like 😐 |: one wire goes into one connection on each side. You use a flat screwdriver in the slot to open a spring loaded connector, replacing screw connections. I guessing that you know it uses a different bulb type ( screw thread not bayonet).
AirconAdeFree MemberHi there, I live just the other side of the Mynd from church stretton and do loads of riding around stiperstones/ eastridge. I put a loop together for some mates which started from the Stiperstones inn and looped through Eastridge up onto the stiperstones, then over to Rattlinghope for a pub lunch at the bridges inn. After lunch it’s up along the Mynd and back to the stiperstones Via Heath myndd and Shelve.
All in it’s about 35 miles and a nice days riding avoiding the over rated minton batch and the like.
I have the route on MMO and should be able to send it as GPX.
I’m at work tonight so wouldn’t be able to send it till tomoz pm when I get home, if it’s of any use ping up a reply on here and I’ll send it out tomoz.
AdeAirconAdeFree Membermight have, will have a look in the morning. I never used mine, just drilled the rear drop out and tapped a thread into the hope mounting bracket then bolted the frame to the hope bracket. still working to this day 15/18 years on.
AirconAdeFree MemberHyundai santa fe (05) at this end, bought in 08 for 4.5k at 60,000miles. Still had 2 years warranty. Now done 130,000 and apart from putting a set of tyres on it ( BFG All terrain) and servicing it, we have had no problems at all. It returns 35/36mpg with the lead footed wife driving ( I get 42+ on a run). Fantastic in the snow with perminant 4wd does mis having a low box though. I also run a Landrover 90 as my daily driver and a Suzuki sj for winch competitions so have a good idea about 4wd’s.
So for me as a daily driver a Hyundai has it ( and yes we will be getting another if and when this one goes!
AirconAdeFree MemberYea was thinking of that, but as I was down that way at the weekend on the Enduro motorbike, there is no way swmbo will let me out again for a while!
AirconAdeFree MemberChakaping, some of the stages are the same as last year ( with a few tweeks) and a couple are new for this year but are old D/h runs from a few years ago.
I’m guessing that they will be parking you on the fields, so try and find the highest spot to park and get your motor facing down hill so at least you can start off if its rained. The ground is still pretty soggy so even a little rain will make it hard to get going!
AirconAdeFree MemberFrom Shrewsbury head south on the A488 till you come to the village of Pontesbury, after you pass the school on your left keep a look out for a left turn for Habberley.
Travel up the narrow lane until you reach Habberley, look for a fork in the road which will say Eastridge on a brown sign(but I’m guessing that they will have Grav D/H signs leading you there)A little tip, keep a ear out for Banjo’s and don’t do any rafting!!! We don’t get many new folks round here that often!
AirconAdeFree MemberWe were riding there last night. The conditions are just about perfect, one of our guys got KOM on the undulating run, which is one of the stages for this weekend.
The stages that they have set out use some of best bits of the wood, If your racing there you will enjoy it.
Good luck.
AirconAdeFree MemberSecurity is a problem, but it’s a case of making it less atractive and harder to start/tow/move.
The detailing looks silver but is natural galvanized finish, although the roof is silver!AirconAdeFree MemberHi there, We ride out from there once every couple of months and I have a few Gps routes I can send to you if you like. We mainly do Eastridge/Stiperstones on Thursdys ( leaving the stiperstones pub at 7) or on a Tuesdays ride around Oswestry/ Welshpool area have a look at,
Face book for TTT welshpool[/url]
send me a message if you want gps files (in mmo format)

Nice bike btw.
AirconAdeFree MemberI’ve had a series two for a few years, and that is very basic! But I have just bought a 1984 90 that has been fully rebuilt with a galvanized chassis and bulkhead and a 200 tdi. I paid just under 7.5k for it but the guy had bills for over 10k for the build which was 4000 miles ago. I’ve had to do a few little jobs on it but the parts are soo cheap it’s unbeliveable.
Yes it is slow by modern 4×4’s but it sits on 35″ bfg mud tyres and looks the muts nuts, it returns about 27mpg running to and from work (10 miles each way),insurance is £125 pa, steering is as crisp as any modern car (even with it’s mud tyres)I tend to use it more than my new vw transporter!Yes you will need to have/do more work to one than a suzuki or a honda ( and I race a suzuki 413 off road so do know)but the landy raises more waves and smiles and comments than my tvr.
So yes, get one and enjoy it, just look at many till you find the right one and don’t be fobbed of with people trying to tell you that “they all do that” and if your any where near shropshire you can come and try mine if you like!

AirconAdeFree MemberHi there,
I’ve been involved with a few blocked or fault code showing dpf’s. Some times you can force a regen via the obd, or in more severe cases where the main dealer says they need to replace ( at great cost) the dpf, we have removed cleaned and refitted the filter with good results. The treatment we use is by forte but there others and one of the cheapest is cillit bang in the green bottle!! just soak the removed dpf, then was out with hot water( pressure washer) it’s worked on a volve D5, a mazda 3 and a couple others I can’t remember.
Worh a try before throwing 1500 quid away!

AirconAdeFree MemberI did the 75k in 4h40 and would say that I was pretty unfit at the time.
It’s a cracking event with a couple of good climbs but some really good trails (Eastridge esp) But them I’m a little biased as I live less than ten miles from marshbrook/Stiperstones.AirconAdeFree MemberOne of our guys was on one of these last night. It didn’t look bad at all. I didn’t feel the built up weight, but he was flying so it must be some good! He was saying that now the logo’ed and non logo’ed were the same price, I dunno if that’s the case or not?
AirconAdeFree Member15 mins riding to Eastridge, 30 mins ride from longmynd. Lucky as ****
AirconAdeFree MemberNot me but one of my riding buddies made it down from mid wales for the day. would have like to have been there tho
AirconAdeFree MemberYep it’s got to be done.
Up is easy once past the last bit of tarmac, then the down is pretty wild and I’ve yet to clear it. The grassy climb after the rangers and before the final track decent can be a bit of a slog. The final run down is a scream, bunny hop heaven.
AirconAdeFree MemberIn bed by 10.30 as working at 04.30 in morning, got to work to find out that I’m the only engineer on site and the only other person is the security guard.
Still I did manage to strip my lads forks and find a bent leg (Doh more expence) and do a bit of urban trials riding around the 25 acre site. Only six hours left of trying to keep myself busy.AirconAdeFree MemberI’ve been using them for years and find them great. The best thing I found was using them with waterproof bib tights as this stops the “water running down leg” problem.
I’ve just bought some mid weight knee length ones for on the enduro motorbike because thats even less fun if you feet get soaked.
One thing I’ve found is that when you wash them, turn them inside out to dry as they dry loads quicker.
AirconAdeFree MemberIf you have the screen illumination set for 10 second bursts the batt life is pretty good, and you can also get an extra batt that also has a waterproof case as part of it, and with that the run time could be days.
Using your own MM makes it a cheap, good option.
I like the fact that it shows you exactly where you are on the map. It has ended many arguments when in a group ride over the ” no we’re here” moments.lolAirconAdeFree MemberI’ve had the 2800 for the last 12 months. Bought it for using on MTB and Enduro/green lane motorbike as well as the odd geocaching.
Std battery life seems ok ( better than smart phone). Good at tracking you route with elevation/speed/distance profiles at the end of the ride.
Quick to grab gps signals and display is ok when on bike but a bit small to see when on motorbike (they now do a 3500 with 3.5″ screen).
As a bike computer I think the Garmin edge seems better with live display of speed/dist/elev gained per ride and the virtual partner training aid.
The MM is far better for navigation as you can see your location on the map, but as with most gps units you some times have to take the wrong route to then find the right route, if that makes sence.MM2800 has a few bugs when trying to load pre planned routes from pc to mm unit and when trying to save data but the forum is very good for finding out what your doing wrong.
Would I buy another …. Yes. But I’m also thinking of getting a Edge 305 for day to day biking duties and keep the MM for longer day navigation rides.

AirconAdeFree MemberA super, quiet, cracking trail that’s WELL worth a visit. As has been said it makes you remember what is good about biking.
AirconAdeFree MemberJust picked up the thread , I’ll email you chaps when i get back home.
A.
AirconAdeFree Member2.1 Trailraker on the front and a 2.2 (?) storm pro on the rear. Yea a bit draggy but good training for the summer!
The raker is awsome on wet roots and mud, deffo one of the best tyres I’ve had.
AirconAdeFree MemberWe run one as the wife’s car, an 05 plate high spec CRDX CRT,bought for £4500 at 2.5yrs It replaced a trooper and we were concerned with how good it would be in the snow ( living in the hill’s a 4×4 is a must if you don’t want to walk a mile to the nearest road!)
It returns 36 to the gallon and is way better than my landy in the snow ( BFG all terrain tires on both). We had one warranty claim at 108,000 miles/4.5 yrs old which was the high pressure fuel pump (exactly the same pump on merc’s).
Would I have another one YES. but only when this one starts to cost money so maybe in anothe five or six years.Lol
NB I work in the motor trade as a tech working on high end German stuff, and hate working on my own motors.
Yes it is a little plastic and not as tactile as some brands but every thing will keep working for years.Ade
AirconAdeFree MemberJust remember that Eastridge is only a couple of miles from there, so you can put a good loop together covering some of the best single track going! If you want some GPS MMO files drop me a line.
AirconAdeFree Memberspesh winter waterproof boots with seal skins and if its really cold I use thin socks as well. Works for me and we did one ride last year when it dropped to -15. Feet were toasty just a shame that my hands felt like ice cubes!
AirconAdeFree MemberGood on ya mate! I hope the little f**ker was scared sh*tless while you were waiting for the Bib.
AirconAdeFree Memberz1ppy.
Yea I run a 2.1 TR on the front and 1.9 TR on the rear, or if its more rocky/ rooty harder packed stuff I leave the front alone and swap out the rear for a 2.1 fire xc for spesh captain or purgatory.
Rear grip in mud/slime conditions seem not to give me too much of a problem. I know that I can ride past a lot of my mates who are spinning out and I’ll be on a semi slick. But I hate the front washing out ( too many years of MX) and have found the TR the best by far for grip. I tend to run at 27-29 psi front, it does get slightly skittish at over 34 psi.Ade
AirconAdeFree MemberI ride most Tuesday and Thursday nights every week. This is only the fourth that I’ve missed this year and thats due to being on a night shift.
I should have been out and about doing a cracking loop in the hills by lake Vyrnwy, so am gutted that I missed out.
Still Thursdays ride around Eastridge and the Stiperstones is somthing to look forward to.
AdeAirconAdeFree MemberTrailraker every time for me. Just Sooooo much grip in all conditions.
Granted they’re a bit slow on the road though, but worth it.
