Just to echo the above, if you’re at home, patch it from the inside – mushroom plug or otherwise. Loads cheaper than a dynaplug insert, too.

For smallish holes which nearly seal, I normally find just topping up with sealant and riding on it sorts them eventually. Sometimes takes two or three rides.

I’ve had separates, and I’ve had combined – I’m pretty happy with combined. Not really any downsides, other than you can’t wash and dry two loads simultaneously, and it saves a bit of space/hassle.

I never really got on with Zwift, i found it to “Tron” like and love Wahoo SYSTM

I like Zwift, for me I find it has the variety I want of social/racing/structured workouts/scenery. I can’t stomach the price increase though. Perhaps come winter when I’m on it most days I’ll change my mind – but the price is now a massive deterrent from resubscribing for the odd month here or there when I’ve got too much on to ride outside.

Average power doesn’t really determine the race, sit in the bunch and then sprint for the finish.

I’d forgotten region coding was even a thing. All the dvd players I ever had were unlockable fairly easily.

50/34 and 11-36 would give you a pretty similar bottom gear (actually slightly lower) than you have now, and some pretty sensible high gears for tarmac.

No point pausing it though, just cancel and reactivate when you’re ready.

I think I’m ok with it – still cheaper than Trainer Road or similar.

Trainerroad looks like $20/month, which is a fair bit cheaper than £18/month.

I find it kinda weird that you’re okay with the Zwift price increase of £5/month, but objected to the Strava price increase of £7/year.

Jeez, I was hoping they’d reduce prices to compete with MyWhoosh.

Yeah. I appreciate they haven’t increased their prices for years, but they’ve still always been at the top end of the spectrum. With more competition, raising prices significantly seems an odd move.

Ironically, if they reduced their prices, they’d probably get more money out of me. As it is I only pay for 2 or 3 months over winter; if it was say, two thirds of the price, I’d probably pay all year round.

Does seem like a very large increase when myWhoosh seems to have been gaining ground. If they’d gone to £14.99 I’d probably have swallowed it, but £17.99 is enough to make me look for alternatives.

Anyone found one with a 130mm width and metal rails? (SLR shape seems to work for me)

Definitely should have gotten one of these instead – https://www.specializedconceptstore.co.uk/product/18829/2021-hotwalk-carbon/option/

On my 2.2, it measures ~9.3mm outside thread diameter.

btw, Park Tool have always been really helpful whenever I’ve emailed them.

I really like the Topeak Ratchet Rocket for a slightly more workshop feel, although can be a little bit awkward for tight spaces.

Or for minimalist carry, evening spin rides, I like the Mt Zoom one.

Lezyne tools seem nice at first, but I’ve had a couple corrode horribly, seize up, and then disintegrate. I probably didn’t treat them that well, but no other multi tool I’ve had has seemed to suffer the same.

29ers were only introduced by big bicycle to make 26ers obselete. There’s nothing intrinsically better about them.

Yeah, this whole thread seems to be either stuff you could find in a fortune cookie, or stuff a 10 year old just isn’t going to remember after the 10-20 years it’s going to take to become relevant.

I love this way of thinking. If everyone did as you suggest how would you ever receive your Amazon parcels and go grocery shopping. If those some deem to be deserving of being paid a pittance pulled themselves up you’d be ****. No cleaning being done, no cheap goods being delivered at the drop of a hat. They don’t seem so deserving of low pay when you stop and think about it.

The outcome feels like it would be effectively the same. If everyone left those jobs, employers would have to pay more to recruit into those positions. That additional cost would no doubt be passed on to the end consumer.

Minimum wage should be set at a level where people shouldn’t need in-work benefits to get by

Ideally companies should just pay people a fair wage and not have to be told the minimum they’re allowed to.

Previously I was on minimum plus about 8%. Now on a higher minimum plus about 5%. Despite the overall increase I can’t help but feel like that is a bit of a snub.

I wouldn’t see it like that. The minimum wage increase was a pretty sizeable jump, and they’ve increased your salary by more than they had to.

    Fenwicks is pretty good

I’ve tried two cans of that, both were terrible.

All the Fenwick’s stuff I’ve tried has been awful – I don’t know how other people have been getting good results with it, but I’d never buy anything made by them again.

Those climbs are a bit unexpected for a disused railway, but they aren’t anything that should trouble a moderately keen cyclist.

but that’s super transparent and a nice way to move cars that other wise might struggle to sell.

Yeah, I’m a bit sympathetic to the ones that aren’t really making a profit, but just an alternative way of moving an item on, even if they are illegal.

Yeah, the one that they mentioned in particular seems to fall foul of GC rules for being a free draw or prize competition – but presumably they’re either happy to turn a blind eye or don’t have the teeth to enforce it.

National Lottery at least goes to good causes, private lotteries are just lining other people’s pockets.

Many of them seem to be illegal under the Gambling Commission rules, and for any I’ve bothered to look further into, the cost of the tickets *far* outweighs the cost of the prize (seen some over 3x). I’m not opposed to the organisers making some money, but I think they’re kinda taking the piss.

These are the best years of your life.. It’s all downhill from here, kid!!

Literally everyone told me that when I was around 10. I’m glad I didn’t listen to them.

What is it with all the people here who would use their one shot at telling their 10 year old self something useful, and instead go for something they could get out of a cereal box?!

Get a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.

So many people have trotted that out that I’m not sure going back and telling yourself that would be in any way useful.

It would however be helpful, and save a lot of time, if you could shortcut the whole thing and tell yourself what job that might be.

It is sort of ironic that it benefits higher rate tax payers quite a bit more than some poor soul who actually might not be able to afford to run a car and needs to use the scheme to spread the cost of a bike to actually ride to work!

On the other hand, one of the reasons it was set up was to encourage people to cycle rather than drive – so having people who can and would afford to drive be able to take advantage of the scheme isn’t a bad thing.

By the way, the sacrifice on the car and bike also affects the amount the company pay into your pension

That’s not how it works in any company I’m familiar with.

Camelbak Repack works well for me, too. Easy to tighten up one handed as you empty the bladder, so it stays snug.

Employers benefit from the reduction in employers NI, so are unlikely to want to penalise people for using salary sacrifice schemes.

    Aidy

AFAIK salary sacrifice is just that, you lose a bit of your salary, and the attendant benefits thereof.

Most companies I’m aware of calculate benefits from the notional salary, and they’re unaffected by any salary sacrifice schemes.

From a private seller, I don’t differentiate much between never used and ridden 10 miles or so. No warranty either way. I still get surprised at how people try to pass off clearly broken things as new or good condition. Been caught out by not checking things until weeks later a couple of times.

“I don’t support it because I don’t get to use it” is honest, but not a particularly compelling argument.

I struggle to get very excited about potential tax evasion with c2w. I mean, sure, that’s not what the rules say, but it’s a pretty small amount really, and if it wasn’t used for c2w, people would just avoid tax by putting it in a pension instead. Doubt it really makes any difference to the taxman in the grand scheme of things – if anything, it might help through VAT.

If its a US company then expect it to be absolute minimum

FWIW the UK company that made me redundant did the absolute minimum (actually less than), and grumbled about having to do even that. Had to go through the tribunal process to get something fairer, and they fought me (with some pretty dirty tactics) every step of the way.

I think the offer is on this weekend so I need to kill any old listings and go again?

Make sure you opt into the offer first.

    Aidy

Don’t just cancel the listing then repost. You can choose ‘sell another like this’ then it copies all the details into a new listing, then delete the old one. Saves making a whole new ad.

Just ending the listing and clicking the relist button under “unsold items” works for me.
