If you are going to Gisburn Wigglesworth Road is shut so don’t go via Slaidburn
aguesty1Free MemberIt’s dumping like mad over in Whitworth, prob around 6 inch, it’ll be even worse up at Bacup!!
aguesty1Free Memberhave you considered a spot of dognapping?
Yes I consider it all the time.
She’s actually with another guy that she works with, she works away a couple of nights a week and works at the same office he works at when she is away. Claims nothing happened prior to us splitting which I see as a load of twiddle. How do you come out of an 8 1/2 year relationship to start seeing someone 1 month after and has been seeing him since September. 2+2=4 in this situation methinks. Actually bumped into her on NYE coming out of a pub with this bloke and the dog. Completely messed me up, more to do with the dog as she wouldn’t even let me touch him!! I was with a couple of pals and they made certain that I didn’t go home, tbh it was probably best that they didn’t.
I was on medication about 12 years ago after I got kicked out of my parents house (I must come across as a right nob, I’m definitely not, it was more my step father than mother but still left a very bitter taste), they worked for a while but I decided to stop taking them and actually felt much better about myself. Here we are again though, debating going to the GP’s but at the same time I am never keen on AD’s.
aguesty1Free MemberTbh, I do think that there are a large portion of society that are not fully happy in their lives, there is a tendency to put on a brave face and get on with it; speaking from my own personal perspective! My friends all seem to think I’ve done really well but there are 1 or 2 really good friends who know the truth and keep a watchful eye on me, even to the point where I’ll just get a friendly 2 minute phone call. Seems easier to talk to people on here about this than it has been to talk to anyone else, it may be down to the fact that I cannot see your faces or it may be down to the fact that you are strangers to me.
Work hasn’t actually affected the situation nor has money, I have a very good job and a good income, my situation really stems from family issues (not close in the slightest) and my breakup from my wife. Basically she decided to announce to me at my best friends wedding that she didn’t want to be married to me anymore. Basically she said I had let myself go (12st and 32″ waist), I’ve apparently got a massive OCD complex (I like a clean house and I’m house proud, yes I did majority of the cleaning), oh and to top it off I’m boring (we had just got back from Morzine and just had a week in Scotland; had a right laugh on both occasions). I’ve been told by impartials that she is full of $h1t but it doesn’t stop you thinking about such hurtful things. Worst bit of it all is that she won’t let me see my beloved boxer (like a child to me), I di everything for that dog so obviously that is a massive change in my life!
I am “hanging in there” (actually that made me laugh), taking each day as it comes and keeping busy, job interview tomorrow for something else to focus on, higher position no doubt with increased pressure but I definitely need a new challenge. Need to speak to the ex regarding the house and the divorce, part of me thinks it better to ignore the situation as it really does affect me but the other part knows I need a complete clean break. I’m finding that I’m definitely riding alot more now, getting out on the moors with my music on and just riding for miles certainly takes your mind off things, only issue with that is it was a shared interest with the ex but one that I enjoy so much!
aguesty1Free MemberCheers hora, I know you’re right but it’s hard to get in a positive attitude sometimes. I’m currently trying to get a job back home in the North West to give myself another challenge and the ability to stay in my own house, go to the gym and go play rugby. There is some light at the end of the tunnel but it may also come with additional stress with the new job, 2nd interview on Friday; fingers crossed I get it and have a new challenge to focus on!! The ex certainly doesn’t help matters with dragging her feet over the divorce and the house. I’m sure I’ll be ok, but at times you just get in the frame of mind where you wonder “why bother”.
aguesty1Free MemberI’m a 29 year old guy soon to be 30, my wife of 2 years left me in August 2012 having been together 7 years before marriage. I’ll be completely honest it tore me to bits, that coupled with my grandmother being extremely ill in hospital; I have certainly considered it. Fortunately I do have a great bunch of friends that have been there for me to talk / cry it out, I’m not ashamed to admit that. Every day is extremely hard, I work away in the week and being on my own isn’t ideal as thats when I tend to think about things, get upset and wonder where I’m going. I’m slowly dealing with things; I was dreading Xmas being on my own but I got through it. Just got to get through February now; birthday and wedding anniversary! I haven’t actually attempted suicide but I certainly have contemplated it. I simply try to keep busy and get out and about as much as possible, it’s incredibly hard and different people deal with things in completely different ways.
aguesty1Free MemberCheers for the recommendations guys, I’ll have a look tomorrow, rubbish wifi in the hotel can’t open the links…..dam travelodge!!!!!!
aguesty1Free MemberKimbers – freshers week in a few weeks, I’ll be all over it. The SU is a little ropey but there are plenty of other student areas.
I’m also the best type of student, I have a real job just for 4 days a week and the company has paid for the degree for the last 4 years! So I have money..
aguesty1Free MemberShe’s just been round and the finances are sorted, all amicable and sorted out what I’m taking with me (which isn’t much as I don’t have any room for it)!
Now the question is do I get rid of my Meta and upgrade????
aguesty1Free MemberScaled –
I’m in Ramsbottom soon to be moving to Whitworth to a mates, could be worse1 I’m still in the hills so doorstep riding remains.
aguesty1Free MemberCheers everyone,
I’m surprisingly fine, at least I know what’s going on now, basically she went for a week of space this time last week. This week has been horrendous and it feels like I have some closure now.
Time to go through a pre 30 crisis ha. I fortunate that I have a great set of mates and even more fortunate that one is letting me move in with him. I’ve been doing a part time degree for the last 4 years and this is the final year so at least I have something to focus on. I’m looking at a 1st for the degree and I’m not going to let all these issues spoil anything. Get that degree then the world is my oyster, I’m not throwing 4 years of hard work down the drain!
Ah well, best get out on the bike….
aguesty1Free Memberernie_lynch – cheers for that, I genuinely don’t think there is anyone else and if there is, the grass isn’t always greener!
I’m quite a busy person anyway, I have a new construction project (I’m a Project Planner) starting up on Monday that will keep me occupied. As for drinking, I’m not a massive drinker so that won’t really be an issue!
aguesty1Free MemberI’ll be fine, I’ve got a decentish job, little financial commitments, granted I have very little savings but I should be fine. I’m looking at the bright side I can now buy as many bikes as I want!
cinnamon_girl, i’ve offered to go to counselling but she has said if she doesn’t “feel that way about me” there isn’t any point.
potts at home, I’ve not been yet, I’m going over the bank hol weekend. Quite glad tbh as it’s something to look forward to.
aguesty1Free MemberNZCol – my thoughts exactly but she says that isn’t the case, basically there is no relationship to work on according to her!
aguesty1Free MemberNot a clue that there were any issues, basically she said she isn’t in love with me any more and loves me more as a friend / brother! Everything has been normal, she’s had a week away to think and that was the conclusion. Money wise it’s pretty much sorted just changing names on things just the house that’s going to be the issue.
I’ll be riding far and wide this weekend to try and help my head.
I’ll be staying with a mate from next week just going to have to find somewhere to store the bike!
aguesty1Free MemberI basically ride reds, blacks at trail centres, natural stuff in the peaks and have just been out to Morzine, I’m a regular at Lee Quarry and Gisburn and occasionally go to Llandegla, If I’m honest Llandegla bores me! I’m on a Meta 5 so not a xc whippet, love to go down hill and climb as well.
Cheers for all the advice, is there any reason that none has mentioned Newcastleton?
aguesty1Free MemberWillber, not to brag but it was great on Sunday morning, nice and dry.
My only issue with Lee and it’s a small one; the weather is mostly gash and its so open that it can be horrendous with the wind. given that it’s my local I can forgive it!
aguesty1Free MemberHa, If the bike fits you you’ll be fine, it was more an off the cuff comment in jest, wouldn’t want to offend a fellow egg chaser. Seriously though they are a great bike and very cheap and underrated, I love mine, so much fun. If you can though I’d definitely recommend a maxle for the rear as it stiffens it up a treat, I got one from real cycles, if you email them they will give you sound advice, they did me a second hand one.
aguesty1Free MemberCheers guys, it’s a boys wknd so plenty of messing around seasoning stuff!
aguesty1Free MemberBuy buy buy, great bike. As others have said the cracking issue has been blown out of proportion, look at all the people slating the Yeti ASR 5. Sometimes there are issues with bikes but if it’s an 08 and been ridden and not cracked I suspect it will be fine. My 09 is still going strong after 3 years of abuse, the cracking may be due to fatties 😀
aguesty1Free Member2.2 RQ here, love them for all round riding, roll well, loads of grip and are easy to fit as a tubeless tyre. RQ for the win……
aguesty1Free MemberDefinitely worth the trip, I’ll be up there this morning as it’s my local place. If Im doing Cragg and Lee I ride from Edenfield, along Rochdale road then pick up the coal road up to the wind farm at the top bank left the follow the nice techy footpath. Past the reservoir on the left then bank up to the right onto the pennine Bridleway which leads you to the start of Cragg.
aguesty1Free MemberYeah I saw the same last week at Gisburn, I was also with two noobs that when we stopped thought it was acceptable to leave wrappers. I promptly told them to put the litter in the bags!
aguesty1Free MemberTubeless wheelsets – yellow stans tape, can use any tyre although standard tyres are a little more difficult to seal due to the side walls, just leave wheel on its side and let the sealant do its work.
UST also use sealant, to ensure if you have a puncture it seals up.aguesty1Free MemberI took my own, it was £55 for the bike for the bike! Their hard tails aint much cop, only have about 60mm of travel. you can upgrade to a full suss but at that point you may as well take your own. Lift pass for 6 days was £82. The rafting was well worth doing, not worth cancelling to save £25.
aguesty1Free MemberBrycey, Sorry to hijack but were the lifts running in Les Angles and how long was the drive from Carcassonne. The Outlaws have a house at Carcassonne so it’s good to know these things, cheers.
aguesty1Free MemberI’ve just spent a week in Les Gets, both myself and the wife ran tubeless, granted we don’t ride DH bikes but we ride AM. We rode all the DH tracks fine but admittedly didn’t hit the gap jumps. I found tubeless fine especially as I was riding past people on DH bikes with pinch flats! I had one burping incident in a week and apart from that all was well.
aguesty1Free MemberSuppose it depends how old you are, the grey blue with yellow laces also come with a grey lace so not as garish….Plus they are generally covered in mud, rather have the tevas and they way they look over five ten orthopaedic looking shoes!
aguesty1Free MemberHad my Teva links for about 3 months, great shoe. Not as grippy as the five ten but I like that as i find five tens are difficult to reposition. Teva line are seriously comfy and light, just given em a sniff and they win festering like my five tens did. Go for the Teva, they’re great!
aguesty1Free MemberI’ve had both and the XT offer marginally more power. However I’m running SLX on my current bike, just come back from Les Gets and they were great…..
aguesty1Free MemberHealing vibes, just got back from Les Gets last night and was shocked at the walking wounded on the way back!
aguesty1Free MemberNot sure on the jackets but the shorts are uber small sized, I’m a 34 and on an XL
aguesty1Free MemberI’m in Morzine at the moment and had 4 days of riding the DH routes and techy root sections, the tyres have burped once, I literally whipped it upside down and reinflated it and it was fine, never had a burp in the UK, I wouldn’t worry about it, just enjoy yourself oh and carry a spare tube just in case
aguesty1Free MemberCarlphillips, make sure you get a receipt from check in, should there be an issue (I hope there isn’t) it will be easier to track!
