Adsh- Nope, I have a camera on my roof

I have a remote handle with IR lamp and detachable camera.

Very sorry I take it back. Pet hate of mine how what is unacceptable in daylight suddenly becomes ok to some at night time!

Was trying to work out action – M700? NMcK work?

    I feel a lot racier on a 21lb bike than a 24lb one.

M980 XTR are good and generally pretty cheap 2nd hand. Minimum 30T narrow wide.

I have 2nd gen Next SL on the Epic which only gets raced or race training. Good system. My LBS did a very competitive price for me on them and I really like being able to run 28T rings for long/hilly events.

I can’t tell much difference apart from the lower tooth rings. If it were for anything other than pure racing I’d get the XTR as they shrug off large gouges etc from rocks which would be a bit worrying for me on carbon

I was going to say something similar – a lot of commercial shooting in the area. Like it or not it’s a major part of that rural economy.

Agree – has to be into singletrack.

tap out a constant cadence and est. power via RPE and focus on that not people coming me tinged with angry disapointment.

Maybe for long events but for shorter ones I fundamentally disagree. The aim is to get in front whatever it takes before the next singletrack, recover and put distance on the next fire road.

You got up to them, make the pass, try and make it stick, repeat as required until your superior fitness skill wears them down or there’s you.

More targeted training, some weight loss and possibly more data analysis. Examine how hard you’re pushing when you’re being passed. Are you really in the red or just not used to real pain.

FWIW Endurance training is not good for learning to bury yourself, recover and repeat. It gives a great base and long term grit but I’ve been amazed how training at high intensity and doing more XC has got me used to pain.

Racing can really hurt – one of the reasons I do less than some.

My recent training experience would be no it won’t be enough.

I’ve trained for long distance events each winter doing long z2 rodes on the turbo – up to 3hrs and getting out and doing long mtb miles in Spring. On the back of this I can do 12hrs in the saddle eg Torq in your Sleep etc.

I’ve been time crunched this winter have done more shorter sessions and split sessions. On the back of this I’m finding 4hr Z2 rides very hard.

Your commute will give some base and opportunity for intervals but you need a weekly session dedicated to building distance/time.

My ceramic King has worn to the point that the grease tool pulls the NDS bearing+race out with it

This now happens with my first CK BSA BB – don’t know if it’s stainless or not.

I’ve replaced the seals and circlips and it still spins fine with no play.

It’s had near constant MTB use since 2012 on my designated mud bike.

Brought back a long forgotten memory of my first multi pitch lead on Buchaille Etive Mor. We chose a long VD that turned out to be a very ‘Scottish VD’ the clue being that it was climbed later than many others.

Coming across an obvious abseil retreat 2/3 of the way up didn’t help confidence nor the fact that my experienced mate bottled all leads after this.

Well done, good luck and I must admit I’m very glad I wrote down my decision to not do it directly after I finished Torq.

3Hr GV for me, in orange ‘Cotswold Cycles’ kit and a black Trek – please say hello if you see me.

I did – as you passed me up the hill before I tried the comedy re-pass.

Hard day but quite fun. NN on the front helped.

^ Very true however my interest in analysis also wasn’t that long lived. I found that no matter how much I looked at my data the only thing that helped me improve was to train and race harder.

Wiggins claiming he didn’t suffer any illnesses during 2012 to it emerging he required performance enhancing TUE medication just before a Grand Tour, which is only needed in extreme circumstances

This, for me, is the only issue. It’s written in his autobiography and having not been denied/countered is IMHO an admission that TUE was used for gain rather than true treatment.

    Legal but diminishing

you could also try to develop out of saddle sprinting on rollers?

Make sure there is nothing breakable in front of you and that rollers are set up correctly ie front axle behind the centre of the front roller.

Rebuilt up my 26″ singlespeed. Still have heaps of tyres etc. It’s quite a bit more ‘lively’.
Still have my Flux – not really worth selling. Gets used on the annual trip to Wales.

It’s obvious that clothing colour makes little difference to noticeability. That’s why road workers all over the world wear camo and the military all wear dayglo.

    Exactly

I don’t think you’ve bent them as I have this issue too with 26″ SIDS. 2.25 ok but wider and it’s touch and go. I can just run a 2.4 NN but not with a guard and it will rub a bit sometimes.

I didn’t have that issue with the same tyre/wheel in Rebas.

    Ice?

I had this in an XT crank with an XT spd.

Bike shop grunted it the wrong way by the time they realised the key had slipped and the allen key slot was borked.

I put the crank arm in a lead lined vice, removed the pedal body from the pedal axle and ground slots on the axle with a disc grinder to closely fit a spanner to which I added a 4′ length of pipe. I made sure I turned it the correct way.

There was some swarf but the thread was ok. The cranks were worth more than the (worn out) pedal.

Sorry to hear you got hurt, glad it wasn’t badly

Bikes and ice just plain don’t mix, add in fog and you are really stacking the odds!

You run the risk of black ice at 4c and wet or 3c and dry. It’s not just you but the other road users who may lose control and hurt you.

Those may seem like pretty high temps but everytime I’ve broken that rule I’ve found ice or it’s found me, in one case at 25mph in a dip

I use Torq and try to intelligently analyse my progress and performance based on the things I learnt from them.

What NJee said – it really is a journey of which fitness is only a part. To line up on the front row and race with a chance of a podium takes time and racing experience way beyond 18months training.

Mine has been a 3year journey (and it’s not over yet if I want to move from a chance to actually getting on aforesaid podium) of which actual racing was probably the major part. If anyone offered me the chance to take time to train more I’d say I’d like it now not 3 years ago.
