Trying to buy the short sleeve but the XL which I have been in all other Castelli tops was pretty humungous ax the shoulders and neck. I’m a scrawny 40″ chested 6′
Anyways looking forward to it as I generally get too hot and really like nanoflex armwarmers which luckily sow up quite well….. :?

Find a large syringe, add some flexible hose (think the service kit from TF tuned has exactly these) and suck majority out via the valve hole?

^Good one – 2.1 beaver. Back brake had gone so my bad habit of hanging on the back brake was transferred to the front with inevitable consequence.

Frimley were stellar, definately worth a compliment letter. No I made it to the end under own steam about 15m before cut off but felt I couldn’t do an extra lap because of time to get elbow sorted :(
Friends I was supposed to cook for were there when I returned so wife is merely ignoring me. Rioja beckons :)

Wife is angry because I am going to be v late so she will have to do what I was going to do plus she worries.
I seem to have delicate elbows or am falling more. It was pretty slippy by the end. Maybe I should move over to cross…..

Bit of rain and a couple of laps might stir things up a bit!

I bought a merida 96 carbon team frame new for the same discount and am very happy. It will be harder to shift if you sell later.

It’s this conundrum that’s making me thing twice about a cross bike. Currently run durano+ on my winter bike. Looks to me like Marathons are the only similar 35 or 40c tyre but presume not exactly grippy off road plus I’m wondering how well guards work off road. The idea of pfaffing around taking guards off and changing wheels or tyres at the weekend really doesn’t appeal. So is there a puncture proof wide tyre that doesn’t weigh 1kg and do guards work off road?

Looks lovely but far from needing a dropper post it needs an upper! Seat is already below bars.

Maxxi Beaver are very good. Good traction and quite fast.

Wow 24hrs 15mph average is haaaard. 18mph group is nutso. Your riding is pretty much what I do and I find 6hr XC racing painful…..The agony of going out too hard and hanging on for 4hrs is gross. To get droppd by a fast group 12hours in will be pain on a truly apocalyptic level.

ps only ever enter events like this within 6-12hrs of doing a very painful ride while the memory is fresh.

If a dog attempts to bite you kick it as hard as you f#$*@*g can. I did this when my old dog was attacked and it works. I have also landed one on a snarling sheepdog while on my bike. They have teeth – I have size 10s, they use them I use them.

I have an endura windchill that comes out when it’s really cold and wet or absolutely freezing. It’s a pretty good compromise, it’s definately windproof but even with the normal jersey bits it still ends up damp inside. Fine when pedalling but cold when stopped for any length of time.

Use the 800 for distance and time. Ditched the HRM and now go on pain and just occasionaly when I’m bored at work etc look to see how much I’ve done or if I’m getting any faster (answer no). Will never do Strava and take phone for emergencies only.

Many drivers seem to think that blind corners don’t matter when it’s a cyclist they are overtaking.

It was this that led to a lorry nearly killing me. He overtook 75yards from a blind bend on an A road having followed me for a couple of hundred yards. He somehow thought he could accelerate from 10mph (it was uphill) past me and get back in. It being rush hour a car came round the bend. Luckily it was being driven slowly and did an emergency stop. The lorry could have too but no it chose to try to crush me to death for which he recieved ‘driving without due care and attention’ rather than dangerous driving.

    I’m really tempted……. but

    a) I find my soul with 2.0 mudtyres too harsh for my back on long rides and I feel quite beat up after my long chilterns loop. I can stand for the bumpy field bits etc but my hands get a couple of inches of suspension even with lock out.
    c) I don’t plan on increasing the amount of road I do apart from my small lane commute to work.

So the head says that it’s not really for me. If I were to do it it’d be with a ‘dale headshok I think.

Depends where and how you ride surely. My long Chilterns training loop is 60m with 20% roads and the rest non tech tracks. Only 1100m climbing but it’s either looong or steeep and occasionaly both. I’m quite fit and quite light and still need 24×36 up the steep bits and not far off on the long ones.

A mech clatters a bit on the downs and towards the end of a full on winter ride can be a bit sticky getting the big ring (yes I ride a triple) but it’s still a great solution.

120’s quite generous but I’m faster on my 100mm 26 FS a) because I can’t ride a HT on a rooty XC course for more than 90m without being in serious pain and b)because it’s more forgiving of my poor line choice.

Even on rooty shortcourse it was faster though that’s more to do with my skill level (lack of) but I found I was able to pedal sections that my 26″ hard tail was just choppy and throwing me around on.

Yup selling my summer project frame and haven’t done more than a couple of road rides since a saxo brushed me at a 30mph differential a year after a lorry squashed me against a wall. Then there were the near misses…..

After mtb I feel tired and relaxed after road I feel lucky.

I still do the odd country lane ride but A roads are history for me.

I think the premise of your post is suspect given there could be 4 weeks of rain or drought plus the ridge way stretches from Chinnor to Avebury ranging from clay to chalk. Whatever enjoy the ride. Fwiw I think the clay bit in the chilterns is more fun.

Any turbo session when you are not hoping for a house fire or any excuse to stop the unbearable pain is obviously a recovery ride.

Unfortunately I forget how bad it is 2x a week.

Quite a few older but new Merida carbon xc 26 frames around from Merida selling stock to the trade. Have a look on e bay or speak to a dealer. I got my 96 team carbon for a fraction of the price and the hts are cheaper.
