Cascais is worth a day trip. A few little beaches, walkable little village centre with pubs etc. Easy to get there on the train too. Also, there is a Food hall in town near the Cais do Sodre station which hosts independent start-up restaurants, loads of tasty and cheap stuff – https://goo.gl/maps/PpvVEizLS6U2

Try and be original! I’ve been to enough weddings now that most speeches are the same downloaded tat with just the names changed. Zzzzzzzzz

That’s what I’m worried about. I want it to be original, but not distasteful. Guess I’ve gotta find that balance.
The more I look into the more I realise how unenviable the other two speeches are!

True, but Auntie Brenda did and still does **** all for anyone. She doesn’t feed Poppy when we go on holiday and don’t even get me started on the bunting at last years summer bbq. If it wasn’t for Uncle Simon she’d be long gone by now.

I’ll not be thanking the selfish so and so in my speech either then.

Ah, of course, all great questions. These questions and more will be answered in the future, or past, or not at all. Whatever.

Derwent Edge down to Cut-throat ridge (aka Alpine) is my favourite. Great view over Ladybower and a techy descent.

i agree very strange opinion…would it be more acceptable to inform the police of racist abuse only for them to say “suck it up princess and move on”?

No, my point was that if something did come of it then there are bigger implications regarding lack of free speech. The idiot who made those comments obviously seems to be very angry/ignorant/stupid and racist abuse shouldn’t be condoned but punishing someone for hurtful comments sets a dangerous precedent and could lead to thousands of teenage internet trolls being arrested just because someone doesn’t like being offended.

I do appreciate it must be intimidating to have comments like that directed at you though.

I’m not condoning the obviously vile racist comments but it does just look like a needy troll who wants attention.

If something does come of your reports to the police it’s probably a more worrying thing than if nothing at all did… In my opinion.

Crooks is what the locals call it…

I think it looks pretty cool. I normally don’t like bike bells too as they ruin the symmetry of my bike and has MASSIVE aerodynamic effects which will ruin my constant KOMmage. I’ll get one of these when they are on shop shelves.

    1. Is it really worth moving from Nottingham to Sheffield. They’re 40 miles apart. That’s not worth relocating for.

Why not? I’m moving to live in a new city not to be nearer a job. I think being able to ride from the door to the peaks is probably worth moving for. I can think of better things to do with my time than an 80 mile round trip in a car too. Each to their own I guess…

Crooks eh, what’s your take on BMX tracks and jumping? Bolehills is excellent for a ride around and you’re the correct side of the city for the woods (Wharncliffe and Greno) without TOO much of an epic journey.

I did spot the track on google maps. Very short ride from my house. I will definitely pop down and try it out. Is it a busy spot?

Congratulations on making the correct decision. Sheffield is the best place I have lived.

Glad to hear it! Looking forward to moving.

    Ahwhiles –

Anyway, Adam – which area of Sheffield will you be living in?

    Moving to Crooks.

I’ve been to Sheffield twice. On both occasions the natives tried to steal my car.

Oh, that’s good. It’ll remind me of Nottingham then.

I think everyone is forgetting about the Midlands. There’s more than just North and South. Birmingham, Derby, Notts, Leicester. Neither North nor South.

Thanks for the Meetup group link too, whoever it was who posted that.

Ok, didn’t mean to start a northern bragging war. I’ll rephrase… “I’m moving further north relative to my current location”.

Great race and really enjoyed being on solid weather proof trail centre tracks. I’ve done a bit of a write up with pics and thoughts of my time at the race.

Notts is great. Always plenty going on and has a good arts and culture scene. Mtb not so much. I’ve lived here for over two years and do most of my riding in Amber Valley via train journeys.
If you’re happy with one ride a week then it’s not so bad to get out to decent trails at the weekend. Just don’t expect any gnarly local weeknight rides.

bruneep – I think so, but I’ll take it off and double check. I’m wondering if I’ve overtightened some of the chainring bolts too.

adam@bikeworks – It’s a good few mm’s out. Also when I jump on the bike and pedal under force I can feel the chain trying to come off the front ring.

Peak district themed content in blog-ular format. You might need a cuppa with this one it’s a bit longer than the last one. Pictures and contrived metaphors galore.

As always, constructive criticism very welcome.
