Silicone will do the job. Have fixed a cystern to the wall, pan to the floor and a sink to the wall with it. Its strong stuff (and waterproof). And more importantly-cheap.

At the risk of inviting hate emails- kids should be banned from flights unless there is an extremely good reason.

Wasnt my choice for you to have kids, so why should i put up with them crying and bothering my journey.

Just so mummy and daddy can go somehwere nice on hoiday is not a good enough reason to ruin 7hrs of my life. Its selfish.

If you guarantee your kids dont cry, kick etc.. or have a dying relative abroad then igonre all that.

p.s. i am half inviting a nasty response, but I do feel that way when some little sht is crying for a whole flight right behind me. Also I know that wasnt the original question, but it is a pet hate so couldnt help myself.

My best memories are sailing with my brother. Chasing each other down like in the videos. Whooping and shouting at each other with only a couple of feet between us. The ocassional drag of the hand, then a jump off the wave in front of the other.

He lives in Aberdeen now :-(

My fave kit is what I have now. Quiver of Ezzys and my 74l RRD Freestylewave (not used it yet thought).

Brand new its out of reach for most people. At the bare minimum its £1000 for a board, £1200 for three sails, £150 for a wetsuit, £200 mast, £150 boom, £200 for assorted bits. Plus most people say you need two boards and two wetsuits, and will probably need two masts and two booms.

But with the decline in popularity the second hand market has fallen right through. I just bought a 1yr old board for £300, and a brand new sail for £150 off ebay. Also once you have the kit the yearly upkeep is low (unlike biking).

I sail as much as I can. But it is limited to windy weekends as I live 1.5hrs from the beach. Also I can see how kids etc. really makes it difficult as there is no way you can plan your weekends/life around the wind (I have a hard enough time with a gf).

Kitesurfing has attracted loads more people down the beach. I would say 25% of windsurfers have either stopped going or have converted to kitesurfing in the last 10yrs. But there is a hell of a lot of kitesurfers out there. So its just getting more people down the beach. I'm too far stuck into windsurfing to take up kitesurfing. The expense and time to do both is too much. And i cant give up windsurfig with the amount of time, effort, and pain i have put in to it over the last 15yrs. Plus i am actually starting to get good at last. Going for my first loops!

I hope windsurfing will be 'cool' again. In the 90s everyone ditched skiing for snowboarding. Now skiing is the thing to do. Hopefully windsurfing will have a resurgence. But like skiing, windsurfing is a lot more difficult to pick up at first. But as people have said, its significantly easier with the new kit. It took me 5yrs to do my first carve gybe. My mate is doing them now after only his second year. It seems unfair.

Some very good advice from njee. However, as he/she says its all down to personla prefference and what you can stomach at the end of the day. I trained for an Ironman this year and tried out all sorts of combinations of drinks/gels/bars. I ended up using SIS and nutrigrain bars. The SIS is very sickly but the flavour was more palatable than the others. Also some of the less flavoursome ones eneded up making me feel sick over long periods of drinking them (there were a lot of people throwing up on the day). The nutrigrain choice was down to what i could eat while on the move. Trying to chew energy bars is a mission in itself, then trying to breath at the same time was no good. Nutrigrain are moist and soft and have plenty of energy. I wont tell you what trying to swallow energy gels was like- you can use your imagination.

There is a lot of scienece in these bars/drinks/gels but many people say that flat coke with half a teaspoon of salt, and bannans is just as effective for most.

My advice is try some out first, and see what you like.

I did mean the 2G ones. Didnt know about the 1G one.

There must be a lot of them sitting in sheds/garages, or been thrown away. I recon they would still stand up as great bikes in todays modern world. But I must have known of 10 of my riding mates with them, all sold on now. But to have that many good bikes doing nothing seems odd. You still see loads of old steel konas around.

Just a flesh wound. Its not worth spending another second worrying about. I have worse on my LT in more vunerable areas (by the bottom bracket) and is no concern to me. There is plenty more metal left in the scratch, and as pointed out already the little stress that is in that area will just be taken up by the remainding metal in the tube (can give you some engineering maths equations if you like). The dent wont effect it unless it goes really stressed (i.e. beyond its plastic limit- Now Im getting technical). If it eases your mind- i'm a chartered structural engineer and 'in my proffesional opinion you should have a cup of tea and forget all about it'.

just doing this myself at the moment. From what i have read from the turf manufatcturers web sites now is a good time to lay turf. For seed its too late though.

I also have clayey soil. Unless it is raining or has just rained then the rotivator will just skip along the top of the baked clay and wont do a thing to turn over the earth. A pick axe is all that will work.

You then need about 2 inches of decent soil for the grass to sit on. This may mean diging out 2 inches of clay if you want to keep the same level, or just put it on top of the clay.

The main problem i have had is flattening out the area. My lawn is so up and down i was moving barrows of earth and digging up all day. back breaking work.

    Good luck.

Rode in today on my road bike (26miles). Got passed on a flat bit of road by a guy wearing a hi-vis vest and mx helmet riding a £50 Halfords job. Got no excuses. Promise to try harder on the way home.

My American company is doing the same, but its 10% :-(

We are having a lot of redundancies at the moment so there is a solictor in quite often so we asked what the legal stance is. They cant enforce a pay cut, and legalliy it cant be used as a criteria for selection for redundancies if you dont agree to it. But they can sack you anyway, and re hire you on a new contract for less money anyway. So you havent got a choice really.
