The LTS DH didnt have a rear disk mount, I just put an A2Z adptor on the back. Rear shock 'popped' on about the first outing in the Alps. Still worked well enough for me. The forks flexed back and forwards more than they went up and down. All the bushings creaked and groaned. But it served me well until the rear shock link bolt sheered through one day in Morzine. Bodged it back together with zip ties and duct tape though. Bought it for £350, and sold it for £450 after much abuse (but was very honest about its condition).

Hmm, those new RS forks look interesting.

Pikes are £430 on CRC, so not really a bargain.

    The 55s look reasonable priced.

Cant find any coil, maxle revs for reasonable amount (CRC, Wiggle, Merlin)

I just dont like relying on a tube of air up front. The word plush gets used a lot, but coils do feel a lot better to use.

I dont need the slabs at all, as have way more than enough. If its any use to you, I have 14 intact spares (600×900) blue-black that I was going to put on ebay. But working out £10 per slab I'm not going to let £30 worth turn up broken before I get to use them.

The slabs seem great. Uniform thickness within reason, nice riven surface, even colour (but I think the copper is supposed to be a bit more patterned). It is a natural product, so am not being overly picky.

My thoughts exactly Rich. I dont think it matters what you tell someone you will do in your T&C, they will never be able to contradict your statutory rights. But, I am guessing.

Slabs broke in half, and not nicely down the middle (diagonally).

It sort of says that on their website:

Whilst we do our utmost to ensure your goods arrive in perfect condition, if you should find any problem with your order, please sign for the goods as damaged and contact our customer services team by email or phone within 24 hours of receiving your order. When ordering your materials it is important to allow 10% extra for cuts, waste and a small number of potential breakages, usually between 1-5%. You have 48 hours from the date of delivery in which to report any missing or damaged items and we ask you to follow up your initial contact in writing with photos by way of an email to info@nustone.co.uk.

But I read it meaning I should allow me damaging 10%, not them! Otherwise I should allow 10% for their damages, and 10% for mine.

They are definately trying it on. 3 out of 33 broken. Slate slabs. Nustone.

Very cheap slabs and everything else about them is fine.

you need it to sell. just pay for the insurance for the buyer. thats what happened on mine. the extension was built in the 80s and no record of BC approval. So the seller paid for the insurance for me as part of the negotiations. Solicitor sorted it all out.

Cant answer your questions directly. But do know you can pay for insurance to cover an extension without BC approval. Did on mine and was very cheap (maybe £50-100).

Well if they turn out to be fakes they will be chucked in the bin. The GF did know the guy, and he is a cigar dealer by trade. But looking at the prices on the web, she certainly didnt pay anywhere near enough for them if they were the real mcCoy.

Want to go home now and find out!

Lets for instance say someone had some real ones, how would someone go about selling them? (not me of course as that would be illegal)

Think it fits in their remit. Think you are getting confused with lanscape planners, gardeners and Alan Titchmarch.

Am tempted to make some bad jokes about them, but better get some help first

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=singletrackworld
Singletrackworld- A website populated by portly mid life crisis sufferers with delusions of gradeur, who think that riding around on an expensive push bike somehow makes up for their dull job in engineering or IT.

Various cliques can be found on this website. The most amusing being the ones who pretend to like something purely so they can be on first name terms with a washed up ex bike journalist come budget bike company owner or some muppet who draws pictures of sheep and waffles on in a pretentious manner. The actual condiment is more entertaining.
"I'm an overwieght, stuffy, pompous engineer with a lack of personality is there anywhere I can go to have petty arguements with people just like me?"
"Of course there is, try singletrackworld"

Phoned up Madison to check as was having the same dilema last year some time. Think thats what I was told.

Is the BB width different between Ultegra and Dura Ace? I might be getting confused.

Ignore me, now i'm confused, not even sure what i'm talking about now.

Oh well. Thats what the bloke over the phone said.

    ads-b

If you are talking external BBs.. XTR i was told is a different width and not compatible with the other chainsets (or maybe the other way round).

But looking at part numbers and asking Madison (?) then it was confirmed the only difference between the XT, LX, Deore (whatever) is colour.

Bargains are starting to come through.

T-mobile price just went up so now not the cheapest.

http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk £25/month over 18months is the cheapest. £0 for the phone (£450 total).

Also http://www.buymobilephones.net is advertising the cheapest deal at the moment but not in stock yet. Also relies on cash back.
£0 for 4 months. £30 for 14 months. (£420 total). You can also get £25 cashback if you purchase through quidco.

Am so tempted to get one and finding it hard to resist. Sense would say wait for the iphone 4th gen and see whether i change my mind and if the HTC prices drop. June seems so far away though…

edit: all out of stock now till 10th May. Worth keeping an eye out though on http://www.moneysupermarket.com.`

edit 2: Obviously cheaper per month on 24 month contract but usually cheaper overall if go on to sim only tariff after 18 months

Dont panic. I designed and drew out the house already and just dropped some bikes and boxes in it.

Not too bothered about oil/air in the brakes. Been left upside down for weeks now and not noticed anything.

Gonefishin- I am very tight on space too. But not enough wall space to hang them the right way up (9 bikes). I think thats what you meant?

Have tried to plan it out..

5 on the walls, 2 off the joists, and two on the floor.

There is an art to when and when not ride two abreast (i.e. single out in fast traffic etc..- its all been said).

But personally I just ride two abreast 90% of the time. I like to chat to the guy next to me, enjoy the ride, and dont like continously moving in and out as it becomes a chore. Potholes are bad enough to avoid at the moment without trying to sychronise a group of 10 riders to keep changing formation.

It may inconvenience some drivers a small portion of the time, but on balance I am safer.

While on the subject, yesterday a group of 10 of us were slowing up to take the right to the tea stop. Cars parked on the verge either side. Children and families walking along the road (no pavement). Then a complete dck in a Rover decided to floor it past. He got halfway through us before a red car popped up infront over the brow of the hill. Rather than stop, he floored it more. The red car screeched to a halt at the front of the pack, and he pulled in on the front to riders who had to scarper into the grass verge. C0ck!

p.s. if we know a car is waiting we will wait until there is a safe point in the road and if he needs us to single out to get past we will eventually. But it is us who make the call, not some arrogant driver.

Save yourself a lot of time and energy. Get a grab lorry to pick it up. Round here its £150-200 for lift. Dont need to knock it down, will just pick it up as it stands.

So he may just be trying to restrict as many people from the land as he is legally entitled. I suppose if he had the choice, he would close the footpath entirely. Not just a simple grudge with cyclists, just anyone trying to use 'his' land. It just so happens he can pick on cyclists and not walkers.

Just trying to add some common sense to this (which may be impossible with some idiots), but what was his actual objection to bikes passing along a 200m stretch of his land? Is it possible to do harm by carrying a bike on your shoulder and walking as opposed to weighing 30lbs more and not having a bike with you? Did he reason his argument?

Would it be worth contacting this bloke in a mature letter and trying to open discussions with him without him wanting or being able to hit/push someone?

I may have missed it but..

I'm shocked Mach 1, 2 + 3 hasnt been put on here. Hours of riding (up)through grassy fields to be followed by a 5 min gravel path down billed as 'extreme'. Then a huge decent on a road.

    Total dissapointment.

    p.s. The Climax is fantastic

I went first time round with a Klein Attitude. I wouldnt recommend it though. I then biught a GT LTS DH for £400 on ebay. It only had 100mm travel, but worked fine until i broke the pivot.

I think a SC Heckler, Spec Enduro etc.. is big enough for your needs if you arent too experienced in DH. But if you arent really into it then you might find hiring a good option. I think you need to go on ebay and see whats about. Whatever is around 130mm+, big brakes and is a bargain will do.

I use a SC Blur LT (130mm) with massive tyres. I'm not Steve Peat, but I do give it a good try and it hasnt failed me yet.
