It’s not really a full blown business. Just some pocket money. £300 will be more than I will get in a month.

Could I register a domain for 99p on somewhere like godaddy, I could get free email from zoho. Would that be ok?

Ta. That’s the only place I’ve looked at so far. Charges £3.30 a month for email. If you register the domain (say on godaddy for 99p a year), can you get free email from anywhere?

Also good for scuba diving. I remember we used to drive to a deserted beach, my dad and the other men would drive the speed boat over. They would dive for cray fish. And we would light a bonfire, cook them and eat them and sleep on the beach looking at the stars and watch the phosphorescence lap up on the shore (whilst the adults got pissed).

    Good times

Lived/grew up there in the 80s. I always think about going back but would be too worried I will not recognise the place and feel like a stranger. Lived in the middle of nowhere halfway between the airport and Muscat. Literally just a mosque, a few shops and a few blocks of flats and lots of sand dunes. Went on Google Earth a while ago and spent 10mins just trying to find my block of flats dwarfed amongst a load of high rise. Not a sand dune for miles. But my school and our boat club which is where we spent most of our time was all just about still there.

    Things I remember:
-wadi bashing and finding crystal clear deep oases surrounded by palms just like out of a film
    – playing in the mountain sized sand dunes
    – sailing in warm warer (apparently it’s great for kitesurfing now)
    – visiting the old forts and villages with amazing raised irrigation systems
    – the souks in Muscat
    – the people (albeit many people are foreigners working there- or were)

We also went to Dubai before it turned in to what it is now. Scary to think what it’s become. Hopefully the charm of Oman hasn’t gone the same way.

Just looking at that invisiframe stuff. Youve got to pretty worried about scratching your frame. It seems to cover every square inch! Id imagine people doing that still have the protective wrapping on their mobile phones and sofas covered in plastic like in the 80s

Im not going to go mad putting protective tape everywhere. Just the down tube for rock chips and the seat/chain stays for heal rub. To be honest I am not sure where else i would put it anyway. So buying a roll and cutting it shouldnt take too long. Got the stuff from Viking and will see how it goes. Actually works out quite cheap per m. But i did end up paying more as minimum order is 3m which is way more than i need. At least I have some for another bike now.

I don’t think sram mounts work with Shimano calipers. Swapped a mates avids to Shimano slx yesterday and the bolts were the wrong length as there were cone washers on the avids. Suppose could just try Shimano bolts on sram adaptors.

Mine isn’t as clean as the picture now. Covered in mud from the last ride last year and a good amount of dust.

Just googling Atera. The sport seems to just tilt. The DL slides. Is the sliding thing worth the cash?

I got one of these made up. Kind of pricey and a long wait. But love the idea of something made bespoke for me by a man in his shed in Devon.

Woman goes walking her dogs who don’t like bikes on a footpath safe in the knowledge there shouldn’t be any bikes.

Some prat comes round the corner on his bike, doesn’t get off, and dogs run off in to the distance chasing the prat on a bike.

    Dogs don’t actually bite anyone.

Look at it from her point of view. I think it’s you who should be apologising to her. If I ride on a footpath I make every effort to slow, stop and keep out of anyone’s way.

All suggestions above are very good. I like the Mavic Infinity as it has loads of zipped vents and looks really nice in the flesh (not so good in the photos though- it looks like rubber suit in the images but is actually a shiny patterned ripstop nylon). I like the vented secondary zip on the front flap.

You won’t be able to resist. It stands out on its own tempting you. Spent a few days there this year. Did it once on the Saturday and three times (three routes) on Sunday. But there are loads of beautiful rides in the area which I never did. Some sounded amazing.

Took me about 2 hrs each time. Places to stop and take pics on the way. I had perfect weather, but here it can be awful. Noticeable temperature difference from top to bottom. Stinking hot at the bottom. Chilly at the top.

The dogs are getting a guest appearance in the local paper apparently.

They robbed more houses than they could carry stuff so buried some of it in the woods in the college next door. Just happens that’s where they train rescue dogs (which in Hertfordshire is a bit bizarre in itself)

Cheap deals come mostly from the independant chalet owners looking to fill their places. Try chalets direct.

You will have to pay extra for the flight as its last minute though.

After the amazing week i just had in la plagne I would suggest bin it and get a cheap deal. You only get to go once a year. Make it a good one.

I thought i’d increase my chances this year and registered me, my wife, my mum, my dad and my brother. Slightly backfired though. They all want to do it now and the only one to get in was my dad. Might try convince him its a bad idea and take his place….

When I had just moved in to our house someone blocked our drive and our car in the garage. Pressumably as they couldnt see the car they thought it wasnt there. The old guy who lived there before us never used his car so assumed it was something people on my street did.

It was 10pm and wasnt going out so wasnt too fussed. But without wanting to knock on every door in the street I decided to leave a polite note on the screen. It was polite. I never complained. Just said we were new to the street and would be usining the garage from now and please dont block the kerb.

Next morning I get an irate neighbour banging on the door and shouting at me for leaving a note. Apparently I was the one in the wrong- go figure.

Havent spoke to her since 7 years ago. Which is a shame as its quite a tight knit close. But her whole family are a bunch of t!ts anyway.

The 586 has a 0 deg stem. Just looks up because of the head angle (so technically it is). The photo was taken when I bought the saddle so hadnt got it level. It is now. I thought the saddle was level on the Planet X was level when I looked in the shop. Maybe its a strange angle. Will get my spirit level out.

The Look rides like a dream. It just wants to climb. So light. And it looks great which is really the most important thing. Got to say though, the seatpost doesnt help for a comfy ride.
