Just had a look at tubeless kits. They’re not cheap are they. 14 quid for two valves is outrageous. I guess this is the sort of product where you’re going to get ripped off and you should just take it like a man

Washing up liquid to lubricate the bead onto the rim? Will that mess with the sealant if they come into contact?

They’re the m775 wheelset, the only penetration through the rim bed is for the valve. Ie no holes for nipples etc

I’ve got the Shimano mw81s, brilliant. Hard to believe the other options are any better. Size wise, I’m a 44 in diadora, 45 in mw81.

Get on really well with these

Good value as well compared to Shimano etc. These are my summer shoe vs my mw81s for winter use. Really comfortable and seem to be well put together

You can get hit with a 60 quid fine for driving in fog with no lights on. Its definitely something the manufacturers should make a bigger deal about.

It looks like the one on my trance. Which is an FSA overdrive 2 I think

Brooksons are pretty good. They get slated for being a bit expensive, but they’re big enough and they’re processes are robust enough the tax men are more likely to leave you alone

Probably hate. If its not a long travel steel hardtail, a fat bike, an orange 5, a yeti or a Santa Cruz its no good

I am taking the Michael here, I have a long travel steel hard tail and am treating myself to a yeti or sc later this year. Mbuk or MBR did a long term test on a yt last year, it did pretty well i seem to remember)

@sanny my Shimano brakes went TU on Friday, its possibly a bit of contamination of the pads, so not exactly the brakes fault. Got some cracking strava times, but I did nearly die.

Osprey all the way. I’ve got a viper 13 and its great. Loads of nice little design touches, really impressed with it

Not that worried about weight, but it has to be a factor. I’d always choose reliability over weight, but like I said, the zees are 50 quid more and my Shimano brakes have been a pain. Avids get slated on here, but I simply cannot believe they are as bad as people make out.

The zees weight a fair bit tho don’t they? The avids are better than they used to be (I’ve heard), are much cheaper and lighter

I guess the 9s with their bite point adjustment may be worth a look. Plus the carbon levers won’t freeze your fingers

I’ve got m775s at the moment, and they’ve been OK, but been a bastard to bleed properly, and the 4 pot avids definitely had more power

In terms of setting fast times, I’m sure the 29ers are better, but I feel they suck the fun out of things, just not as nimble as 26/650b.

My little 12v dewalt was brilliant. No point getting hammer action with less than 18v, it won’t be man enough to tackle masonry. Obviously, make sure you get at least two batterys

I love the look of the carbon fatbars. I also wouldn’t discount xfusion sweeps, seem to fare well against the pikes in the few reviews I’ve read.

Yer they do. Anyone tried them?

They’re the ones I was looking at. You’ll have to pay some sort if import duty on them at the post office, but it’ll probably be about 20-30%. Let us know how you get on.

You’ve possibly done what I did with my m775s, in the act of bleeding them the syringe tube fell off the nipple and I ended up contaminating the pads with hydraulic fluid. Muppet.

I bought a couple of sh ones, but they’ve got a bit of a wobble in them I can’t get out, so not keen on buying another set with potentially the same issue

They’re only the discs. And like I said, they’re going on a hack, not on a dh monster on a trip to the alps

You never see them anywhere tho. I took mine into my lbs to get a star nut fitted and they all gathered round as they’d never seen any before

Doing the stw thing of recommending everything I’ve ever owned, my xfusion velvets are superb. They’re 32mm and I doubt would be any stiffer than your foxes, but their big brother, the slant, are based on a 34mm chassis. Mine are adjustable in 10mm increments, I reckon the slants will be too. They’re lovely looking, light, plush, super reliable forks. Once they get their distribution network sorted out, Fox and rockshox will be worried, but at the moment you can only buy them in about 3 places in the uk

I started the driving me insane thread, struggled with them for hours. The pad travel wasn’t a problem with me to be fair, but give the calipers a good tap with something plastic to dislodge any bubbles. Also found that pulling the lever and letting it spring back shook the reservoir and lever any dislodged any air trapped in there

I’m working my way through life on Mars on Netflix, and will be watching ashes to ashes after that. Not seen them since they were on TV first time round. Well worth a watch if you’ve not seen them before

i had murder with mine, i got them working again with a good bleed, giving the caliper a good tap with a rubber mallet to loosen off any bubbles, then closed the pads right up with the disc out and opening them up with a screwdriver so i could just fit the disc in. work fine now and i was on the verge of t
    hrowing them out
