    I was confused – but a quick Google reveals a 1957 hit . . . . Would explain why it didn’t ring any bells!

Thanks John – you are right a weedy short thing like myself may be better off with the tow bar one anyway.

Will price it up . . . And possible scare myself judging by your comment!

OK – so I guess if they make one to fit all wheel sizes the others may struggle to accommodate all when sizes?

I see what cougar means about them being held on by the frame on most so the wheels don’t matter – but I’m sure I read somewhere that fatter wheels don’t fit in the carrier below properly. . . Maybe I just dreamt it

I need something more than a hatch as i have two kids living at home and two others that appear on a fairly regular basis with other halves. we need space for bikes and camping paraphenalia.

as for a £300 i’m not sure id be able to rely on it to do the driving required for my new role. basically i can be anywhere on the east of the country atm

As for the vandalised bit – i think it was a freak occurrence and am trying to over come the aversion i have of ever owning something again….the police asked if someone had a vendetta against me due to the amount of damage my poor car sustained. i pointed out that if someone who knew me wanted to get at me they would have gone for my bikes not my cheap old skoda

You should be getting some early nights on the build up to your party . . . . You won’t be able to party like you used to now (but I guess that’s why it starts at 2!)

    Oh happy birthday btw! X

Vast majority of meals yes, we got lazy a few years ago and it wasn’t good for our health. So we stopped being lazy and started cooking properly again. Yes I have kids but not sure why that makes a difference.

I was just responding to the post that suggested with children you couldn’t cook, due to time constraints I guess from the post. Personally i try to be a little bit aware about what i feed mine so prefer to cook from scratch or as near to it as i can. And no i’m not some knit your own yoghurt earth mother type – i just feel they should have healthy food.

It takes the same amount of time to rustle up a quick meal as it does to reheat a ready meal

Generally we/I cook a meal every night and by cook I mean starting from base ingredients
    Guessing you don’t have kids?

err – surely that’s the best reason to cook and start from scratch!

I am not privy to the contents of the report . . . . And if I was and was considering buying shares I don’t think I’d mention it on here 🙂

    They do pay dividends.

A report will be published soon which may affect the prices.

I’m in an odd position as I’d been offered a new role at the end of last year. A more junior member of staff has just found out she won’t be getting a role she was promised. I half expected to hear they were retracting the offer to me to given the role and the area that it was in – but I had confirmation from above today that my role is still safe . . . Makes me feel quite positive

So nearly thought i had found a pair this morning – 2 wheels on ebay with pink hope hubs . . . . but they were 5 bolt disc mounts. . . .argh!!!!

ha ha well just to confuse the issue – i seem to be able to make a reasonable amount….but also made quite a lot of children along the way to just to balance it out. Being a single mother (who doesn’t get loads of maintenance before you all roll your eyes) a lot of things depend on my income.

Two have fledged the nest so far and i sometimes let myself imaging what it will be like when the others go and i get to have all of my income to myself . . . i’m not sure i’ll know what to do with it!

the only time i’ve had to do it is when i replaced a giant one on my son’s road bike. this was concave on the back so superglue wouldn’t have bridged the space between the badge and the frame.

I cut some pads like these to the right shapes and it worked a treat sticky pad things

i guess strong double sided tape would also work if the badge is flat on the back

I wanted hubs to put into a pair of arch 29er rims, i don’t have a set of wheels i am looking to swap 🙁

Where do you find anodiser steve?

I have had a search for pink hope set up on ebay for ages and no hubs have come up – unless they have not listed them as pink i can’t see how i’d have missed them

superstar no longer offer pink, those white industries ones look very pale pink

Chris king pink would be ok – if it weren’t soooo expensive!

have been trying to find some pink hope ones but have pretty much given up. just surprised i couldn’t find any others doing that sort of pink. i think the industry 9 hubs are more cerise but will take another look

It’s not mine or in my possession to get rid of and I doubt the person who has it will do anyway. It has been kept safely for a very long time – I wasn’t allowed to play with it as a child but I know my mum did once or twice (and she’s 66 now, and remarkably sane).

Elemental mercury isn’t as poisonous as water soluble mercury compounds – I’m pretty sure even if you swallowed it you absorb very little (But no I am not saying try it!!!). But regardless of that it is kept very securely.

As for the bloke who broke his maze then lost his hair – he probably just went bald and became a stoner

High 5 fellow Sheffield Chemistry grad!

But, I graduated in ’08 and got a proper bollocking for even having a stoppered jar of zinc amalgam outside the fume cupboard in the 2nd year. Just because something was overlooked in the past doesn’t mean it’s right.

I’m not suggesting it was right! Just saying we are a lot more careful with this bottle than many of my fellow students (and it wasn’t that long ago – we didn’t have a matron to run to that’s for sure!)

That seems a very odd reaction to a tiny amount of elemental mercury

I did a chemistry degree in Sheffield and saw far to much accidentally ending up where it shouldn’t in first year Labs – at least it isn’t trimethylmercury 🙂

No desire to sell it or get rid of it. It will be staying where it is – just wanted to check where we were legally with it 🙂

Good glad there are no restrictions – someone was trying to tell her she shouldn’t have it.

No shrunken heads – although there are some at Ripley believe it or not in picadily if you want to see such a thing (and pay a small fortune on admission!)

yes molgrips it does have very small one – but compared to tap water it looks absent (i poured out one glass (both clean glasses out of the dishwasher) from the cooler and one from the tap to compare)

when you look at it though it just looks flat

I’m sure it should be a nice idea and that is how proper relationships start – but the cynic in me thinks there are some people out there who only want a specific bit of a normal relationship.

They just want the attention and the dialogue but without any of the commitment/risk/physical side . . . . They’ve turned to apps . . . Whilst the rest of us have STW 😆

I do try to understand the rise of these dating apps – I’m sure there are benefits but they just seem to add another layer of problems to the while dating thing.

My eldest is happily settled and thankfully hasn’t had the need for them however my 22 year old son seems to use then quite a bit.

There is one girl that he’s had this weird sort of ‘relationship’ with over a similar distance (he’s up north and she’s in London although has family near us). However on the couple of occasions they could have met she’s not gone through with it.

They call, text, snap chat, face time – but not meet – I’m confused?! I mean what is that all about.

He still seems drawn to her but her behaviour just seems really odd.

He didn’t see the funny side when I said there are plenty more Tinderella’s out there . . . .

Argh you have just reminded me of my old squealy avid brakes – I switched to organic pads and that seemed to help and wasn’t a problem as I could get them cheaply and easily) – will have a Google on guide pads . . .

Thanks that doesn’t sound as gloomy as some! I shifted my working hours to 8 – 3.30 which means I tend to miss the worst of the rush hour I hope that would still be the case from out there.

I had thought 50 mins to an hour – but for the days I was in the office all day I’d try to ride in, probably through bolsterstone along the road to Oughtibridge and then through the woods coming out near the new sainsbury. The road sections wouldn’t be great but it’s a ride I’ve done plenty of times.

I will also be starting a new role in the new year that will mean I am out of the office quite a bit covering the whole of Yorkshire – I think it will be easier to get to the m1 north bound from stocksbridge than it is for me atm

There will be a big bike shop there . . . But yes I know what you mean philxx1975. I have a good friend in bolsterstone so I know more about that than stocksbridge

I’m hoping the regeneration of that old site brings a bit of life to the place. And the talk of the rail/tram line that will go into nunnery square in Sheffield – will hopefully take some of the commuter traffic…Maybe?
