I think the mark one took up to 2.8 tyres

I will be aiming for the hench Wench look by the end . . . But failing that I think the blobs of sealant would work . . .I just didn’t know if it had any nasties in it that I should avoid

I wanted to avoid sewing through as the edge material is quite light and doubled over to form a cuff. Stitching though it will probably pucker it up a lot as the material is very stretchy. . . If that makes sense. If it were just a single thickness cuff that would be ideal

There may be differences between incontinence arising from a spinal injury (neurogenic) and that arising from sphincter damage or other issues arising from bladder cancer. If he’s had surgery they may not want him self catheterising atm.

One thing I would say though is for your friend to have a word with the nurse specialist helping him with his urology products – there are many different types and makes.

I went to a bladder and bowel education day the other week. One sheath was really impressive the guy demonstrating it put it on his thumb and his assistant pulled him (in his wheelchair) around with it.(not saying you’d do this when it correctly positioned – but it does show how good the adhesive is!)

I can find the make of that as he said it could also be used without a bag if the loss was small as it had a little capacity in the sheath itself.

Love mine – it’s first proper trip out (and my second actual ride on it!) Was the Southlakes 100 #jennride.

Fantastic weekend and the bike was brilliant

@jambalaya that pic is a few years old – alas she is no longer living in the alps but is in the big smoke in the rat race . . . My grandchildren have been put on hold in favour of a career

Ahhh kids on little bikes makes me so broody – but luckily I’ve got enough already!
And as this seems to be a daughter fest here’s mine . . . Who obviously needs to go back on stabilisers if you look at the bike – can’t wait till I get some grandchildren to teach how to ride and take on some adventures 🙂

You need to share the pic Hammy . . . We won’t laugh (too much) promise

I think it was decided not to stich it because they were holes rather than cuts. They tried their best to clean it but a scan has confirmed there is a lump of gravel in there still.

I think it healed quite well given the mess I’d made of it 🙂

Sorry – probably stepping over all lines of taste decency and innuendo . . . It is the appropriate name for such a wound though

Yes they do make a gloopy mess but it works keeping it moist. As we are going for grim photos I will share the picture of my ‘gash’ about 3 weeks after I’d done it . . . .
I did worry that it would stay like it bit the holes did eventually fill up

Google seat post clamp rack mounts and you can find all sorts of variations of these.and you will need to think of larger wheel diameters and disc mounts as has already been said. I used an axiom one on my old inbred

Oh no Frankenstein you are obviously near Peterborough! No decent mountain biking for miles

I’ve had a few offs over the years and I always try to carry on regardless. My logic behind that is – if I take time off riding when I’m injured I seem to suffer longer (but I’ve not done a proper study of this, it may just seem longer as I will be itching to get back on my bike)

Just before the Bearbones 200 last year I got knocked off by some muppet at a roundabout. I had to go to hospital as I couldn’t lift my right leg, they scanned my pelvis and spine and couldn’t see and fractures and advised me to rest.

I managed to do the bb200 that weekend with the help of some decent painkillers and a deliberately steady pace . . . And I seemed to recover quite well in the long run. ‘Mobilise as pain allows’ can actually get you a really long way it seems 🙂

We have lots of things filmed around here – This is England 86 probably the most widely recognised…the place has a distinctive look to put it nicely

They used the silver impregnated gel gauze on mine so it could stay on longer between changes – was a bit rank by the time it needed changing though.

    Modern dressings are incredible

You really should get it looked at – it looks broken (the link that is 😉 )

I carried on riding with mine – the dressing stayed put. The only struggle was bumpy stuff, just because it was a bit sore – in particular the bridge over the estuary at Barmouth, I had to resort to riding with one hand but it was easily doable.

As long as you have spare dressings I’d give it a go 🙂

(Obviously not being a qualified health professional I can say what I like 😉 )

Ooh i could do with some recommendations – will be doing the tuscany trail on my stooge (very soon) and I really should have considered what tyres I’ll be using.

Will be putting my 29er wheels on but think I need some faster tyres as there is a lot of gravel and quite a bit of tarmac. Apparently there is some single track but not a tremendous amount. . . .any suggestions would be great

No, not remote but isolated enough in the dark.

    (And if we’re being pedantic – it’s hardly a chuffing mountain! 😛 )

🙂 it’s a good thing to have on your to do list.

I know people who don’t do it often have the view point of it being scary or dangerous. But until they’ve hidden themselves away in a dark spot somewhere under the stars and woken to a glorious morning they probably won’t understand the appeal.

It’s a great spot to bivi, I rode into the forest quite late just a the moon was rising – quite magical. . . Didn’t see or hear another soul during the night. But woke to the noise of mountain bikers chatting – which just made me laugh as even though I was in the middle of the woods I was undoubtedly in the west midlands.

People tend to give you a wide berth when you bivi out anyway. . .as you are generally viewed as the ‘nutter’ in the situation!

I’ve not had any problems biviing anywhere tbh.

Would you really be less likely to have a problem with a group of dodgy blokes as a man?

Solo bivi in Wyre forest – mug shot 🙂

I’d like to say it was some extreme ride . . . But alas I was just racing the boys to school through the woods on our morning commute!

In my defense i had just done the Sandstone way so was probably a little too much in mtb mode when really I was riding my croix de fer with road tyres . . . It all went horribly wrong on a gravelly corner.

    Came off last year . . .

Looks a lot better now – went to minor injuries and they used burns dressings. But it took a while and a few visits due to the three holes I’d managed to gouge into it

There is a slight problem that I came for a work event so have limited clothing options. Will go for a wander and hopefully not get had by the werewolves.

But yes right in the city so should be able to find something to do – although an early night may not be a bad idea (still recovering from the south lakes 100 jennride!)

I would go there – at the end of the day if he was allowing he to ring to announce the wedding then he can’t be surprised when a family member shows up for the occasion. She will be allowed to have a moment with her family before the wedding surely (even if it’s just whilst she gets ready!?).
Then if she really does want to bail out of the occasion/relationship/country then she has the opportunity and transport/support to do so

Hands flat on the floor here too – but I’ve always been really bendy. Until I was 36 I could lay on my stomach and arch backwards until I could put my feet on my forehead – not that I ever found a practical use for that particular party trick.

Out of my 4 children only one is anowhere near as bendy as me – which is fine as some of my joints aren’t great, and I wouldn’t want them to have inherited that from me.

When I was little I did loads of gymnastics and yoga – hence the adjustable Wench nickname – I’m still bendy but try to keep my joints within their normal ranges these days

My youngest had them – but he seemed unfazed. He strongest subject is maths, but he’s good at English too.

He said they were fairly hard but was surprised to hear the reaction they have got in the media.

I have never made a big fuss of SATS at home – they were introduced when my eldest was at school, I have never agreed with them on principle. I praise them when they have done well afterwards but I try to minimise the fuss in the build up to them – it’s unnecessary stress for them as far as I’m concerned.

Yes I escaped the kids for a quick blast earlier – the youngest has broken his arm so I couldn’t drag them out with me.

Its brilliant! I have lots of kid stuff to do this weekend but I feel kind of distracted. . . .

Loved it although the people I’d watched it with were just bemused! Haven’t read the book and I wish I had done before hand.

It did make me swear to myself I’d never stay in that bothy . . . But that was where we ended up on the shindig last year . . . And we survived 🙂
