Still going down slowly here, i think the shift to high fat low carb has helped massively.

Dont think i will reach my optimistic target weight but I am happy with the change in my diet and will stick to it.

Ha ha – so this is actually a we hate camping thread??

Personally I love it but I would opt for the minimal approach – can’t stand huge sites so aim for little traditional tent only places or more than often these days wildcamping.

Yes you are right Mcmoonter a recovery ride would probably do many a lot of good.
Will have to get our heads together when your ankle has calmed down a bit.

And it is also right about the creative stuff, I had focused a lot of time on that before I got back to work. Now just getting through my working week seems to be a challenge.

Have a whole weekend next weekend of no kids and nothing pencilled in – I’ve left it blank on purpose as I was hoping to feel inspired by the weather and get out on my bike – now even the weekend is weighing down on my mind as I’m not sure what I’m capable of (either on the bike or otherwise) and not feeling inspired

Or juggling even – I don’t often jiggle my kids

Mine are almost as big as me so jiggling them is tricky

Ha I’d be happy with that if my body was up to it!

Quite often events involve a lot of travel and child juggling – that seemed justifiable when I felt better and I could actually ride.

Sorry this is turning into a moaney grumble

I have a 14 year old who like to think he’s a little bit urban and edgy . . . .

Made me laugh when I gave him his dinner and he proclaimed

‘Yes! Kedgeree. . . . Kedgeree is peng’

I must have been the only one…..

I wish you were -this post is making me feel slightly nauseous

I definitely enjoyed one too many dubious drinks in my youth. Merrydown, thunderbird, Gold label, southern comfort, pernod, MD2020 and the odd pint of bitter as I grew up in a village full of farmers so downing pints was game we frequently played.

So glad my way ward youth ended fairly abruptly when I fell pregnant . . .(the two may have been connected)

I dread to think where I would have ended up!

Laminated on A4 and issued to all staff at induction our office rules were written by my previous boss many moons ago – he had rather meticulous tendencies so the rules have stayed

They include –

Not carrying more than one cup at a time (to avoid spillages)

No hot food (to avoid smells)

Leaving the venetian blinds down with the slats horizontal

Nothing to be left on desks at the end of the day, other than your phone keyboard and mouse

Got to love the humorous sexisim on STW . . . I have gone from laughing to wondering which 2 out of the 3 I am

Single, yes, attractive, so I’ve been told, sane . . . Well I thought I was?!

Luckily we have Junkyard to bring a bit of sense to that debate.

But OP it does sound like you’ve had a very lucky escape – crazy partners are available in various genders, and you definitely sound like you’re better off without that one

I could accept hand gliding – but for some reason people referring to the ‘guide lines’ attached to their tent bugs my immensely

I find the whole process of online dating soul destroying. Flicking through pages of faces on tinder just makes me feel judgemental and shallow

‘Phil Mitchell lookalike – left
Football fan – left
You seem to like your dog a bit too much – left
A picture of you cosied up with a woman, daughter/sister/ex who knows – left’

It’s hard to capture a person in one photo – but so many of the pics just send over the wrong message. I’m not that heartless in real life but being made to choose based on are picture does make you look at them critically

I sometimes think I should search the pics of women looking for men and see how we come across.

On Pof I find you get in undated if you have a public pic – and I’m not saying I’m anything special, it just feels as a woman like plenty of sharks rather than fish.

I am probably just not at the point where I am prepared to fully engage with online dating . . . But there seem few other options these days.

Rode over 20 miles in one ride (since surgery in October), I didn’t break any speed records and had a few issues with numbness. Feel well this morning though so my body appears to have coped just fine. Just need to get my fitness back now 🙂

I once thanked a boyfriend that had previously insisted he didnt do valentines day for the huge bouquet of roses that arrived on the day . . . He was very gracious when he explained he really didnt do valentines day and they really weren’t from him . . . Awkward

Turns out they were from a slightly creepy guy i went to college with who knew full well i was going out with someone

I have a tooth that plays up considerably from time to time, I resort to codeine and have found that if I Chew gum at that spot in my mouth – initially it hurts like bu&&ery, but Weirdly it seems to improve.

I am not a gum chewer usually, but I do get it when the tooth plays up. I notice that when the tooth is playing up it feels slightly more mobile – so I’m not sure how chewing the gum helps but it really does.

I discovered this because one time the tooth was raging it became very sensitive to cold as I was riding. I stopped and bought some gum hoping to Chew a temporary cover for my journey home to keep it warm. With the gum over the dodgy tooth when I pressed down on it I notice it relieved the pain.

Odd but may be worth a mention – I too have had the filling replaced and no real issue was found. Still flares up from time to tune

Is it too late to join? I have been making an effort to shift the weight gained after being banned from riding by the doctors last august. Hoping to be back on a bike in some capacity soon which will help but any motivation right now would appreciated

I once got a reading on my HRM of 202 riding up East Bank Road in Sheffield (a reasonable hill I have the option to ride on my commute). I was coming home early as I was coming down with some horrid flu type lurgy

Weirdly it didn’t make me feel like I was 18 again

I failed my first test as I missed a temporary ‘wait here when the red light shows’ sign at some road works – I was distracted by the top less workmen.

. . . I’m obviously old enough to have appreciated topless workmen – high vis doesn’t have the same effect these days . . . Or maybe it’s because I’m older and less distracted by boy these days!

Sorry I did say it was horrifying – when I originally watched it I couldn’t believe it didn’t get more of a reaction.

For those interested in the nuclear legacy of USSR

I saw this documentary on 4 a few years ago – horrifying and fascinating. They were studying the people living around their nuclear testing sites in some bizarre experiment

I think you know who recognises you and responds to posts with some knowledge based on previous posts.

But whether someone has a vague idea about who you are or not does it matter? I think the sense of slight anonymity on here, allows things to be voiced that you wouldn’t necessarily voice elsewhere.

I do get an idea about many of the ‘big hitters’ on here but without reading every post and having a phenomenal memory how could you remember all the details?

I don’t have a pregnant partner but I can speak on their behalf having been pregnant many times.

It’s horrendous being taken over by hormones at the best of times but the monthly fun pales into insignificance compared to 9 months of hormones.

The first sign I get of being pregnant is an overwhelming urge to push my partner away from me – this results in me being quite awful and almost wanting completely out of the relationship.

I recognised this as a pattern after pregnancy no 3 – so it then became something I’d worry about if I ever got in that mindset.

After that passes I tend to get the tiredness – a horrible tiredness that you wake up and it never leaves until you andre asleep. The more kids you have the worse this gets as you are unable to take naps as easily.

Then the sickness kicks in again not what you need when you and trying to function normally, and it can be a struggle to be reasonable

The sickness passes and you get bigger and start to get the baby brain which can make work a nightmare of you have to retain a lot of information. I always get to the point I feel I need key purse and phone attached to me at all times – like small kids gloves,as I would always forget one.

Then you are at the delightful stage of huge where you can struggle to feel attractive, intelligent, desired or even just an individual.

Your belly becomes public property for anyone who fancies a quick pat/feel and you start to waddle.

Soon labour with all its pain comes along to save you from exploding

When you weigh it all up – it’s a good job we are awash with hormones that make it seem perfect sense to be going through it all for the end result – or it would never happen! If they make you a bit wappy in the process I would say it’s a minor adverse side effect 😉

Thinking along the lines of fox – i wondered if there were any languages in the world that had words for fox that would make nice names

http://www.indifferentlanguages.com/words/fox

. . . I wouldn’t go for the German variation and the rest of the planet didn’t seem to offer much either!

The girl Fox from Disney Fox and hound who was called Vixey

Other red related names . . . Rosa, Cherrie (but Blair springs to mind so maybe not!), Rosy.

Red heads – Tilda (swinton) and lots of red headed characters to choose from Jessica (rabbit 😉 ), lola (run lola run – may not be a good namesake!)

. . . Or Essie? So when you call it in the park other STW folk will know who’s dog it is 🙂

Im not a professional but the things that spring to mind for me are the suicide of a friends sister, she had no history of previous mental health problems but took her life after becoming distressed oer a short period of time. Strangely her sister hadsuffered significant mh problems for a long time but was rarely suicidal.

http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM198911023211801 this article shows and increase in suicidal ideation with panic symptoms.

My brother has suffered depression and various problems over the years but was only suicidal on one occasion. There seemed to be almost a switch that was flicked inside him, luckily he was stopped

However the other thing that springs to mind is Larium – MOD have been criticised for their use of this antimalarial. Maybe worth looking into if she was given it

My two youngest probably heard way to much having older siblings as well as our music, the older two are now 27 and 23 and the younger two are 13 and 11, i dont think they have been affected by music in the same way they are by other types of media.

The two youngest caught a bit of the nick cave set at glastonbury 2011 (ages 8 and 6) which just got the reaction of raised eyebrows and concetration as the tried to decipher what he was actually singing about!

I think the content of games has much more impact on children as they become so engrossed in them.
